Loved this perfume when I was very young. I couldn't afford it then, so I finally purchased a tiny bottle. I love the clean powdery scent. It makes me feel all dressed up!

Its smells terrible when you first put it on but gets more powdery over time. Its wierd, I can't place what it smells like at all and it has an acidic tone to it like First.

Because of it's romantic connection to the Gardens of Shalimar and the fact that it's deemed a classic because of how long it's been in production, I have so wanted to like this perfume. But after two bottles, both of which I tossed in the trash after only a couple of uses, I have decided that it just doesn't live up to its name. I agree that it smells chemically. I even tried the new Light Shalimar on and it smells the same, just lighter. The only Guerlain fragrance I can wear is Samsara which I really like.

Shalimar is a classic. I began wearing it in the early 1960s. It has great staying power, but it can be overpowering if used in excess. Its scent is a bit too much for me. A prefer a whisper over a shout.

I've enjoyed Shalimar for 15 years. It is important not to put on too much and to choose carefully between toilette, cologne and perfume to find the best match for you personally.

Shalimar is and has always been the best fragrance. Although it is chemical hell, it is the most elegant. I still won't wear it though.
