What's painfully bad is the thought that in the minds of some segment of the general population this song is solely linked to Bolton's terrible white bread rendering of it. The Percy Sledge original is great and there have been many many decent covers, pretty much all of the ones I've heard superior to Michael Bolton's painful edition. Through the whole thing he sounds like he is in the bathroom trying to work something out, and it ain't a song.
