Wallace was by no means the most famous novelist of his time, but his vibrant writing articulated the anxieties of his generation. A vivid writer, with an almost exhausting but entirely compelling prose style, Wallace seemed to me to be like the voice in my own head. I'd quote something from him, but its almost impossible, given his style to get a sense of his writing in less than a thousand words, so I'll leave it to you to discover him on your own if so inclined. His suicide seems, in retrospect, to be foreshadowed by his writing, and I for one, am saddened by it and saddened that a unique literary voice is silent.
