Urban Carnivore 5

Urban Carnivore has been fed to my pei for 4 yrs. Not once have I had any problems nor illness. In fact my pei are the healthiest they've ever been.
I don't like feeding dry that is full of additives, fillers, and preservatives. Natural is the way to go.
I rate urban carnivore 5 stars and have and will recommend this food to anyone.

Urban Carnivore 1

Update: After eating the bad batch of Urban Carnivore our puppy was never the same. Even though we took him off of it and he was no longer anemic his stools were either the consistency of water or pudding and he was losing weight. After $500 worth of tests it was discovered that he TESTED POSITIVE for SALMONELLA and CLOSTRIDIUM PERFRINGENS ENTEROTOXIN TYPE A which attacks the lining of the intestines and interferes with the absorption of fluid and nutrients. We were told he would have to go on a high fiber diet and a very expensive drug called Tylesin which we were told he may be on for the rest of his life. I was worried what all that fiber would do to his joints by year 3 and was told he probably wouldn't make it to year 3 without this type of intervention. The pathologist told us that 67% of commercially prepared raw pet food patties have tested positive for salmonella. We were also told that inflammatory bowel disease may be an underlying component as a result of the enterotoxin A which is treated with a chemo therapy drug and steroids and we would test for it if the current treatment didn't work. Thankfully he is having actual formed stools now and is gaining weight. Urban Carnivore made a perfectly healthy puppy have a lot of suffering and cost us a lot of trouble and money. Stay away from this or any other raw food product!

Urban Carnivore 1

We fed Urban Carnivore to our cats and one Chow (now deceased) for years with no problem until this year. We got a new Chow puppy this spring that had only ever eaten Urban Carnivore. The chicken patties were fine until this summer when they changed for the worse. Instead of the color of raw chicken like they used to be they were now red and left a greasy residue on the conatiners. My chow puppy who is sensitive to fat and suceptible to colitis like most chows are, got very sick a few hours after eating one patty from the new batch and had to go on medication to treat colitis. I contacted the dealer who in turn contacted Urban Carnivore and was told that a fatty shipment of chickens had been processed and they more cases in exchange for the troublesome ones. Just as my puppy was feeling better I tried a patty from the latest shipment (which also looked red instead of the color of chicken) with the same bad results. Blood tests done revealed that my 6 month old puppy who had only ever eaten Urban Carnivore was extremely anemic and his white blood cell count was also extremely high even after being on two rounds of antibiotics. As an experiment,I cooked a patty from my daughter's cat's old shipment and there was not even one drop of fat to be rendered and the patty cooked up in big meaty chunks and when I cooked up a patty, one from each of the new shipments I rendered an ounce of fat off of each patty and was left with a pile of what looked like greasy bacon bits. I e-mailed Urban Carnivore a copy of my puppy's blood work and pictures of the color difference of the patties (old and new) and pictures of my experiment results and got zero response. The dealer returned home from holiday and I returned the 4 cases (32 boxes) from the latest shipment I had purchased. I am now feeding my puppy raw chicken breast (raw lean steak makes him sick), raw eggs, cottage cheese, vitamins and a small amount of low fat kibble and he is feeling better and is now very energetic. He will be having blood work done again next month to see where he is at with red blood cell count etc. We put our cats on Orijen Biologically Appropriate Real-food Kibble which they took to right away because our one cat didn`t want to eat the new patties and our 18yr old has a sensitive tummy and we didn`t want to risk the fatty patties on him. The dealer said that Urban Carnivore suggested I should be feeding my puppy beef patties as well as chicken but even very lean beef steak makes him sick so that is not an option. The dealer said that Urban Carnivore was going to phone me but they never did. She gave me their number and I called, received their voice mail, left a very cordial message but never heard back. The dealer said Urban carnivore would send me a free case of chicken patties and one of beef but I am not willing to experiment with my puppy`s health because he has suffered enough. There are other raw food diets out there like the Mountain Raw Food Diet, Pets for Life and Arusha and the healthy grain free Orijen kibble that I would suggest trying before ever going with Urban Carnivore. No response from them other than through the dealer rates as poor customer service. Ending up with a sick and anemic puppy because of their product has been a nightmare not to mention weeks of colitis is very messy on a Chow. I will give them one star as we had used their product in the past with no problem. I used to recommend Urban Carnivore to every one with pets and even considered becoming a dealer myself, now I say proceed with extreme caution if you are going to use this product and get blood work done to see how it is really affecting the health of your pet.

Urban Carnivore 5

We have been feeding their foods for over a year now to our 7 year old poodle mix, and to our 4 housecats. We feed them this as their evening meal normally (use grain free kibble in the morning when we are rushed). The animals love the taste, and their health has much improved. The company has several products including supplements, we normally only use their frozen whole animal patties so can only comment on them. We currently rotate between elk, quail, bison, rabbit, duck, lamb, goat, and beef. They also have a chicken one but chicken is in the kibble we feed so we dont want to be redundant.

When we transitioned over to these foods it did take a while to get our animals to get used to the taste, but now that they are they relish in their evening meals.
