As with all of the scarpetta novels by patricia cornwell this is a page turner. I'm hoping this won't be the last one of the scarpetta series.

I don't think I've written a review for a book in a long while, but this one drove me back. What the heck has happened to Cornwell's writing? Her first several novels were real page turners, but this one took me over 6 weeks to finally finish. I typically read one of her books in a few nights. I had the killer pegged early on, and toward the end I was wondering if lesbian escapades were added to help us heterosexuals (or morally opposed) relate? Enough with the sexual info...it sells, I'm sure, but that's not why most Cornwell readers buy her stuff, I presume. Sad to say, this'll be my last Cornwell purchase.

This latest one was just OK for me. Time to retire the characters and move on to new ones.

I really enjoyed this book. Cornwell does a good job of bringing all of the characters back together again. I like that Scarpetta and Benton got married. I like that Lucy is starting to grow up and doesn't go off in a rage so often. I particularly like that she has cleaned up Pete and he is back in the fold. They all work together in this one to solve the mystery. Cornwell manages to keep it interesting right to the end.

Disappointing, rambling on and on, gay and lesbian themed, lots of self-centered femminist characters and flawed male characters (Patricia must be a lesbian). I tried real hard to enjoy the story and was hoping the ending would save it but the ending was almost like a narration to explain the mystery of the story. The chapter endings did not make you want to read into the next chapter. Mostly boring, poorly written, lacking genius at the core. Did Patricia really write this? Also, after reading some of the 5-star reviews there is no way those reviewers are being honest. One even stated reading the whole book in one sitting it was so good, 500 pages - really!
