This is my first time trying EM. I was in the hospital 2 days ago with a migraine. They gave me an IV with Dilaudin. That drug took the edge off enough for me to be released from the hospital but didn't completely knock the headache out. They sent me home with Vicodin which did nothing. My best friend who is a nurse calls and tells me to try EM. I told her if Vicodin isn't working what is an over the counter going to do, she said just try it. So I tried it, and EM provided me with the best relief I had in 4 days. I guess everyone really is different. What works for some may not work for others and vice versa. I wish us all good health! Regards.

A normal headache is just a slight constriction of blood vessels in the head. A migraine is a spasm of the blood vessels in the brain.First the vessels will constrict (shrink down) reducing blood flow in certain parts of the brain. With reduced blood flow, the affected parts of the brain misfire causing the aura symptoms many migraine sufferers are familiar with (disorientation, visual flashing, blind spots, numbness in extremities). After this stage, the vessels dilate (get bigger) causing the brain to swell inside the skull. It's this pressure that causes the pain and nausea associated with a true migraine. Now along comes this maliciously named "medicine". Introduce caffeine and aspirin to the swelling stage of a migraine and watch the blood pressure rise. Higher blood pressure INCREASES the swelling in the skull and makes the pain and nausea much worse!I tried this 'insert expletive' during a migraine once. It turned a day of exquisite hell into a day and a half of utterly indescribable misery. It was immediately clear to me that this stuff is marketed to normal headache sufferers that think their headaches are bad. To somebody that really has migraines, this stuff is a sick twisted joke.To sum up; If this stuff helps your "migraine", you're not really having one. Buying this stuff is rewarding dishonesty. Don't do it. They are preying on people that don't know any better at the extreme expense of people that actually need something to help a migraine.

I try to teach everyone that I know that talks about pain medicine to read and research what they are taking. Excedrin Migraine, Excedrin Back and Body, Excedrin Extra Strength, and Excedrin Tension Headache all have the same ingredient. Acetaminophen (Tylenol). Extra Strength , Migraine and Back and Body have aspirin added, Tension headache, Migraine and Extra Strength add caffeine. All these items advertise that they work on different areas but it's nothing more then deceitful advertising to make people buy their product. You do need to worry about taking too much of this product because it does contain acetaminophen. Too much will damage your liver. Hope this helps.

I have had migraine attacks, and somehow I am a little scared of having one again, so I don't know why, my head scares me these past weeks, I'm afraid I'm having a migraine right now, so I take one excedrin migraine pill, every day. I fear it might be dangerous, but I also fear I get a migraine, so what should I do?? What does excedring does to your system, is it dangerous??

bloop is right! Exedrin Migraine is exactly the same as just Extra Strength Excedrin. Don't be fooled by these companies adding on new products, and simply changing the name

No other over the counter pain killers or Imitrex come close to what these pills do for me. I'm a moderate migraine sufferer. I get a severe migraine after every soccer match, which I play weekly, and then random ones, too. When I first tried E.M. - I took it when I felt the migraine coming on - right when I started to see halos. I went into my room and prepared for the usual 5 hours rolling around on the bed in agony until I can fall asleep. After about 20-30 minutes, the pain so sharply began to go away that I couldn't believe it. I think it's good to take it after you start to feel to pain because then you'll notice what a difference it makes. I always make sure to avoid taking them unless I really need it. I can suffer light headaches, you want the pill to be ready in full force when the worst comes. Give them a shot, make sure not to over do it (try to do less than 2 a week if you can) - and it just might be the ticket for you.

I've tried countless medications before now for my migraines. Nothing ever helped, and sometimes I swear certain things I tried made me feel even worse. I get really bad migraines. A friend of my mother's got Excedrin on a trip out of the country, and sent some pills my way. I was honestly not expecting these to work, but for now my migraine pain has gone from a 100 out of 10 to a 2 out of 10 on the pain scale. I also haven't thrown up, which is a relief. Normally I can't do a damn thing when having a migraine (and am reduced to a useless lump under my blanets), but right now (an hour and a half into my migraine) I'm able to a lot more than just lie around. Browse the internet, for example. A bit of the pain is still there, but only enough to be slightly annoying rather than debilitating. :) I guess the only bad thing is that I can't swallow pills, so I chewed two of them. I gagged a bit. That was unpleasant. Still, though, quite worth it.

These work for me. I get headaches in the middle of the day sometimes, and these knock them right out for me.

Obvously, it depends on your migraine. This works for me, but certainly not for my mother. My mom is one of those rare (like 5%) that have migraines so severe that painkillers prescribed at high doses don't even touch them. I'm glad that her migraines haven't came for awhile and that I have yet to inherit them. As a child, I would watch her spend all day in a dark and quiet room, complete solutude, and cry because moving her eyes hurt, or the small amount of sunlight glared in her vision etc. She'd remain that way for 6 months straight.

a lifesaver for many of us who have tried everything and nothing helps!

This never really worked very well for me, although I do keep it around. Because I used Vicodin for so long, it sometimes wouldn't work at relieving pain, and occasionally I would pop 2 of these in addition to the Vike. They sort of took the edge off the intensity of the pain so that I could function, but really weren't too efficacious on their own. Also probably not a healthy thing to combine these with Vicodin. Of course, migraine comes in a wide variety of intensities, so what works for one, may not work for another. One thing that has sort of worked for me is Imitrex, but I don't like taking needles or carrying the kit around with me. I had been told when the migraine began, inject myself in the fleshy part of my leg. One winter day, I was driving around Orange County in upstate NY when, sure enough, my migraine aura lights began flashing. The only place I could see where I could shoot myself up in private was a cemetery. So I drove to a far corner, pulled down my pants, fixed up my works, and shot myself. At the time, I thought to myself, If a cop pulls in here by chance, I'm going to have a tough time explaining why I'm sitting in a cemetery with my pants down and a needle in my leg. I think Imitrex is now available as a nasal spray and I'm going to try that in future.

Excedrin Migraine is exactly the same formulation as regular Excedrin. The migraine part is simply a marketing tool....check the ingredients yourself and you'll see.As for the person who feels these medications will kill them....not unless you take extremely excessive amounts repeatedly. The main danger in Excedrin is the aspirin which can cause digestive problems such as ulcers. Also the acetaminophen can be dangerous if combined with alcohol on a regular basis.

I have had migraines since I was a child, sometimes for seven days in a row and at least 1 - 2 times per month. The only medication that ever worked was Cafergot. But as I took this prescription drug year after year, I became convinced that it would eventually kill me. Yes, it worked most of the time, but I had to increase the dosage over time, and it started to work less often. This scared me. Then I discovered Excedrin Migraine. It worked when the headache was mild. This eliminated my need for Cafergot about 80% of the time. I felt that Excedrin Migraine had saved my life. However, now I have been taking Excedrin Migraine for over two years and am addicted, I believe, to the high dosage of caffeine. If I don't take the drug, I get a headache every day (a rebound). I take as many as 4 - 6 pills per day. Now I worry that Excedrin will eventually kill me. I rarely take Cafergot--only when I have a bad migraine; it probably works about 60%-70% of the time. I tried Imitrex once and thought I would die. I had every side effect and still had a headache. I am at a point where I don't know what to do. I am grateful for Excedrin Migraine, but recommend that no one take it too often. I think my daily addiction stems from my new mindset. When I was a child, I suffered all the time because I took no medication. From age 18 until my thirties, I took the Cafergot, but only when I had a severe headache. I did not take it at the first feeling of the headache coming. However, as I have gotten older, I have tried to avoid the migraine altogether by taking medication the second I feel it coming. Perhaps this is a mistake. This is how I have become addicted. Perhaps it is better to suffer with some pain and not be so fast to pop the pill. Despite the drawbacks, I am grateful for Excedrin Migraine; my quality of life has seriously increased since I discovered it.

I have been a migraine sufferer for 20 years. I have tried numerous prescriptions such as, Imitrex, midrin, muscle relaxers, etc. I have been to the emergency room more times than I care to count because the pain was so bad and the vomiting that came with it wouldn't stop. I can honestly say that Excedrin Migraine works better than anything I have taken. Being a wife, mother of two, and a business owner I would love the opportunity to say Thank You to the makers of Excedrin Migraine - you have no idea how many times you have helped me overcome a migraine. I've been getting migranes my whole life. I have never had a perscription, so i just usually load up on pain killers when it starts and wait it out, or sleep it off. This stuff is the best. Just 2 and the migrane starts to go away in less than 15 minutes. Seriously, i don't leave home without it. It has changed my life in a big way.

It doesn't do a damn thing for MY migraines!

I suffered from terrible migraines for months before I discovered Excedrin Migraine. I tried everything, but most things would just make the nausea worse. Excedrin Migraine helped the sickness, the blurred vision, and, most importantly, the throbbing pain. I definitely recommend it to anyone who is a migraine sufferer.

I hate migraines, sometimes I literally feel like I'm going to die. Excedrin released all of the pounding pressure. It also lets me drive my car.

Works very quickly to stop headaches. However, caffine tends to be a bit strong. Great in 1/2 doses.

This product advertises saying that it takes away the migraine pains...my sister gets migraines all the time and she has tried this product and she says it doesn't help at all.

I am a migraine sufferer and have found that Excedrin migraine relieves all of my symptoms within a very short amount of time. I recommend this product to any migraine sufferer.

Works very quickly on a bad headache, probably because of the high caffein content...
