The opening has been transferred onto organ for spooky effect many times, but the musical genius of possibly the greatest of the classical composers stands out. I walked home one cold and misty night whilst listening to this on my MP3 player, and it was one hell of an experience!

Its a magnificent piece of work, another of the times that Bach used an organ to argue mathematics with God.
Because its in public domain, and thus can be used for free it got overused in cheap Gothic horror movies in the fifties and sixties, and on cartoons like Scooby Doo, so children, or childish minds now associate it with Halloween.
