Controversial, some would say tastelessly graphic, account of a plane crash, an epic hard rock hit in 1971. Bloodrock were a hit or miss, largely forgotten early to mid 70's band: at their best they were sort of a cross between Black Sabbath, Grand Funk- who they often toured with and shared the same manager with, and the very early Southern rock of a band like The Allman Brothers, with lots of doomy, eerie songs about war, death, destruction of the environment, sociopolitical problems and other gloomy but common topics for hard rock bands of that era: often sung in an Old Testament kind of way. The song used to get quite a bit of play around Halloween on FM radio. The kind of song that a lot of folks hate, but bound to get a reaction of some kind. 4 stars might seem generous, but I'm a huge, huge fan of the late 60's early 70's hard rock/ proto- metal bands.
