For many years the CPUSA were indeed communist. But by the mid-'60's they began transforming into a social-democratic group; today, they exist merely to adore the Democratic party. Senseless and irrelevant, the only thing communist about this party is their name. Avoid.

I can only tell you about the headquarters in Central Square in Cambridge Mass,  back in the late 90's I was, (Thank God briefly) seeing a freaky alternative chick who used to read poetry - open mike  poetry people are totally f'ed up the whole lot- and- it's a long story... Essentially Six fat sixty- something white guys with ponytails and a few with Karl Marx beards...Comic Book Guy from The Simpsons ripoffs-  the type who'd say The Revolution's Coming, the proletariat's rising...  but first I gotta get a Big Mac...

The CPUSA has never been anything more than a lie. While many joined their ranks over the years due to idealism, this party was funded by the USSR and never really developed any coherent American socialist views of their own; hell, very few members even knew about the Soviet funding. Today the CPUSA is nothing more than a ridiculous haven for the people too over-the-top for the Democratic Party. They bash the Republicans constantly, which appears to be enough for their members to concentrate on, while never realising the CPUSA is completely bereft of their own ideas. By the way, the CPUSA orders it's members to vote straight Democrat, thus becoming another capitalist tool.
Laughable at best, but it shouldn't be forgotten that for years they were acting as Soviet spies (albeit incompetent buffoonish ones).

Communism is much like the U.N. - Looks decent on paper, but actually sucks in reality. The scenario with Russia only validates the uselessness of the communist ideals.

Communist or not (and as ridiculous as they definitely are), the Communist USA Party is entitled to also participate in the very political system they loathe and hope to destroy. Seriously, no one of any real common sense would ever vote these clowns into office. However, to stifle their right to regularly embarrass and humiliate themselves would be to compromise the very ideals America has always stood for.

I believe that Communist party USAs beliefs could make this country better if they were strictly followed (that means no adding capitalism or corporatism to the country if it came to power). I like the party more than other communist parties because of their views on how to take over the country, which is peacefully instead of violently. Communism, like other ideologies, in my opinion, would only work if it was strictly followed and not mixed with other ideologies which is the case with the views of the republicans and democrats. I am a fascist in reality but I view communism as a different system, not a bad system. This party views capitalism as bad but a lot of the things that they claim makes capitalism bad are probably caused by the socialism in our economy which makes it harder for new companies to compete against large corporations while also causing public schools and similar things to be inefficient.

Niet. Communism does'nt work. It basicly denies human nature, and assumes that no one will take advantage of the revolution of the proletariat to advance their power (which is what has happened in EVERY single communist revolution in history). Heck, technicaly communism has never even existed, as Marx characterized communism as being the final stage of a historic struggle between rich and poor, a classless society. Sounds nice, but consider that this follows the dictatorship of the proletariat, which is what the like of Mao to Stalin used to justify their own dictatorships.

I sincerely wish people would look at actual Marxist thought and not just automatically assuming that a country that calls itself communist is. All communist countries have actually been brutal, fascist dictatorships, and were not actually represented by the common worker. Stalin was a dictator, not someone who actually represented the interests of the masses. Hell, in communism, there shouldn't even be a leader. America is supposedly democratic, but your last president was elected in a courtroom. And what about the internment camps during WWII? Don't tell me those advocated freedom of the world. One more thing. Capitalism and communism are opposites, not communism and democracy.

Why does everyone say that Communism failed because the USSR fell? If anything, the USSR was an example of how much a success Communism is. In 1917, Russia was a backwards third-world nation at the level Brazil is today. By 1950, Russia was a world superpower complete with a space program, heavy industry, and nuclear weapons (I'll admit the latter isn't such a great thing, though.) Hell, it's debatable that Russia even was communistic. They not only called themselves Communist, but they called themselves Democracies. Not only Democracy, but People's Democratic republics. If Communism failed because communist nations labeled themselves so, then didn't Democracy fail too? And please refrain from the evil human nature argument. That's an excuse, not a reason.

On paper Communism looks ideal. Every one works hard and gets treated equally. How utopian is that? However, in pratice it destroys and the only one who benefit are the ones controlling the political machine.

These people do not understand real communism. It is easy to be a so called communist in a free society. Move to China and tell me how great it is.

Ever actually read Marx? His entire system is based on the labor theory of value, which states that the value of a good is equal to the amount of labor that went into making it. This is utter nonsense, as two seconds thoughts will show: if Joe spends 40 hours baking an awful cake that tastes like garbage, and Bill spends 1 hour baking a cake that's absolutely delicious, according to the labor theory of value, Joe's cake is worth more because it took more labor to make. In actual fact, the value of a good is exactly equal to how useful or desireable someone finds it. Bill's cake is worth much more because people *want* it, and it has *nothing* to do with the labor that went into it. The labour theory of value has been dismissed for a century, but communism is still forced to cling to it, because you can't claim that capitalists are parasites without the notion that the only value of things is in their labor.

Communism has been proven to not work. Any form of government will become corrupt, but at least our current corrupt government can economically stay alive when we follow capitalism. The person who earns money is the one who deserves it. Even a person who steals did something to get the money. Begging is for the weak, and it is the weak that hold our country back if we allow them to.

Pure Communism is the ideal way of life. All else (including pseudo-Communist/Socialist ideologies) breeds greed and hatred. With that out of the way, the CPUSA is a respectable organization that has had to endure quite a few difficulties in its existence (Red Scares of the '20s and '50's, McCarthyism, Palmer Raids, ETC) and hasn't done anything to anyone. Its aims are not to destroy the US, only to bring about awareness for the labor and progressive movements. During the elections, they primarily support the Democrats or Greens. It is NOT a violent or terroristic organization.

Sorry, but I don't think they'll have any chance in hell of winning.

First of all, why does this group of losers put USA in thier name? The US stands for freedom the last time I checked, which goes against everything Communism stands for. Also, Communism is completely dead. North Korea and Cuba are communist, but thier economies are terrible. China is moving slowly to becoming democratic.

Well intended. Equality is a good thing, but the government is too inefficient and too bureaucratic to adequately help the people. Communism has only worked in two places: The family unit, and monestaries. China is not a communist nation anymore. They have free trade now and are now merely oppressive capitalists.

Communism is a perfect theory, of course theory is not going to work perfectly in any system. If there is a communist party, then i am all for them trying to represent themselves. How much difference is there between someone with a communist ideology, and a far left democrat not much. Communists wont overthrow this country like it did in others, so i am not worried about a huge red scare.
