Each pizza is totally different and a personal difference. Raised in Chicago, there's a reason and history to the thickness and toppings as I'm sure a history for NY pizza. I like Chicago deep dish over NYC thin crust. I actually like Chicago thin crust over NYC thin crust. The big reason for me is that the NYC pizza had so much grease on the top of the pizza and well it didn't take long for me to take a trip to the bathroom. Chicago thin crust that I grew up with was a more crisp crust pizza which to me is very tasty. Maybe we should compare similar pizzas. A deep dish pizza, it's a whole different food group. You can't compare the two in the same category and it's not fair to either city.

New York Pizza deffinetly wins this one. I like the thin crust, with the sauce and cheese spread on. Chicago pizza is has like a 3 inch layer of sauce that makes me gag. Chicago pizze isn't pizza, its like a sauce, cheece, and meat/vegetable cake, no thanks.

Chicago pizza is an art form. NY pizza is meant to be folded like a wet noodle. If you have any question try a sausage and mushroom pizza from Aurelios Pizza.

Gino's East in Chicago runs circles around any of the New York Greasy spoon joints. For that matter Lou Malnottis does too. Best in Denver is Aurelios in Happy Canyon on Hampton. Get the Sausage and onion or mushroom. Chicago takes pride in their Sausage something Ney York wouldn't know a thing about good sausage!!

Whenever I would visit family in NYC, which was only about 15 miles from my town anyway, I would get a slice of New York Pizza and most of the time it was pretty good. The best pizza's were at those family owned and operated for god knows how long places. I've been to Chicago, had there pizza, and threw it out. I guess I'm a creature of habit.

(1=not a huge rivalry) I like a nice, thick crust, when done properly. I have nothing against NY style, though, but out of the two, I'll go for thick crust, pan pizza, Chicago style, whatever you wanna call it.

Here's my Chicago Pizza story: There was a Chicago Pizza in Newport, RI some years ago. Well my friend was a company officer at Navy Cadet School and he invited me to join his graduating class over at Chicago Pizza. I was pretty hungry, but as pie after pie came out, each was more ghastly than the last. The dudes were ordering pizzas with disgusting combos like Double-Onions with anchovies, green peppers, pineapple, kielbasa, ham with no sauce...with extra onions. The dough was thick as a pillow and I ended up not even eating a single slice (in fact I spent the night suppressing a gag reflex). I took my friend to a seafood restaurant and had a real meal. This Pizza rivalry is about as much a comparison as World Series victories between the Yankees and Cubs. New York pizza (and its cousin from Philly) is far superior to the doughy and gross midwestern abonimation. Pizzeria Uno's Chicago Classic is about the only Chicago Pizza I'll even touch.

I worked at six different pizza joints, and, of couse, it depends on who makes the pizza.

I know this a big deal for New Yorkers and Chicagoans. But to me it's a no contest. New York Pizza by 1st round KO. Too much dough in Chicago Pizza.
