Swann was a good receiver who had a fine career. However, he was helped immensely by playing on some amazing Steelers teams. His career numbers are not great, and he was never truly a dominant receiver.

Swann caught the ball and the Steelers won the games. That, more or less, defines the job.

The most overrated player ever. Look up the stats.

Lynn Swann wasn't even the best receiver on his own team so he definitely can't be the best ever. Yeah, he made some acrobatic and big catches, but he is definitely not the greatest receiver ever.

One thing to remember about Swanny was that he was still well in his prime when he retired. I hated the Steelers and still do, but Swann was just unbelieveable. He had great hands, ran precise routes, and had breakaway speed. He had a constant knack for making the big-play. Fans who remember the decade of the 70s well know that Bradshaw, Harris, and Swann were a fantastic trio that may rank the best of all-time. In his prime, Swann was every bit as good as Rice.
