I bet most of the good comments on this page are either BMW reps or people with less than 30K miles on thier vehicles. I have spoke to tons of owners, 24 hour road side assistant reps and all indications point ot the fact that the X-5 is junk. I will admit it is fun to drive and looks good but is depressingly unreliable for the price and BMW USA was a nightmare to deal with. I sold it today and bought an AUDI.

Anyone for some 'lemon'aid?? We certainly have the lemon! We have a 2002 X5 4.4, bought brand new, and had problems with it starting day one. We regret buying it. Lots of little problems with it, but since they are 'minor issues', nothing we should be upset about. It's an expensive vehicle to have several minor issues. A few examples: electronic seats, mirrors, climate control malfunctioning, one door slightly different color (already had it repainted), windows go down whenever they want, rust on running boards, doors don't lock all the time, rain sensors work when they want - this is just to name a few. By the way, did you know you are not supposed to take a BMW through a car wash? At least not ours - due to sensitivity to high water pressure. Have to admit, it is nice to drive, but so are alot of other vehicles. We expected a lot more from BMW and are extremely disappointed.

Its only for performance. What the BMW lacks (gas milegae, cargo room, interior) it makes up for in performance. Its awesome in the 4.6L but you be paying about as much as a Range Rover. Its fast, but you'll probably end up flipping over during tight turns.

if you want to go for size and seat 7 pasenger in your car go for the MDX,thats your car,but if you want a real family car in week ends and "the real machine" in week days go for the x5....is the beast and the best.

bmw x5, land rovers...who cares about these yuppy trucks...they are too nice to go off-road with the toyota landcruisers...landcruisers will recover all of them from the mud!

Had a close look at one I think it is unfair not to have a manual in this range for any vehicle. Very nice inside but they shold do a bit more with the console to bland.

This would probably be my favorite because of BMW quality.

BMW X5 is the best SUV for the price.

It has the most class and style and it has the most durability.

BMW makes the best vehicles and it is a real classy vehicle.
