A great small SUV. I used to drive a 1989 Blazer and it was like a tank. It was used as an emergency response vehicle and in 1994 we had a major snow storm. I pulled out of my driveway to respond to our Operations Center and the snow was up to my headlights. I put the truck in four wheel drive, backed up and then the vehicle went through the snow like a plow.

im currently on my second 85 s10 blazer. now, even tho i havent driven the later models ive had friends who've had them and i kno theyre all pretty similar. this is not a car for people who want a cute comfortable lil suv. this is a chevy and its meant to be run hard. sure its noisy and it has all sorts of rattles and lord knows the older models had a seious rust problem. not to mention the old 2.8 engines were turtles... but its a die hard truck plain and simple. i beat tha s#!t out of my first 85 and it never let me down, not to mention that since its a chevy whatever breaks on it will be an easy fix if u have 2 hands and a toolbox. dependability is 6 stars. the old 2.8 was a die hard engine, the 4.3 is not only die hard but powerfull (what do u expect from a circumsized 350?) comfort is only 2 stars and the handling isnt great on 2x4 or 4x4 but we all need to remember that this is an suv from the time before suv's. this is a truck plain and simple and if u want a pretty lil suv that will never require u to get ur hands dirty then ur lookin in the wrong place. for a small truck/suv blazer is #1 with the inline 6 cherokee a close 2nd and explorer a distant 3rd

we have a '91 blazer and a '93 blazer. never ever buy a Blazer from the 90's. Everything goes out quickly on them unless you're lucky. The breaks go quickly, the transmission has issues, the back window sqeaks and rattles, electronical things break, you're lucky if your A/C works for very long. Bad bad chevy! I don't know if the 2000 models are any better but save yourself a headache and some money and find something else.

A sweet looking ride that has good pickup, lots of cargo space and it was reasonably priced. Those are the good points. The bad outweigh the good. I had my 99 Blazer for 13 months and I had to put more than 2 grand into it. Buddy of mine is a mechanic and he says that the Blazers are notorious for being high maintenance money suckers. I couldn't agree more.

I've had my 98 blazer for 2 yrs. now with no problems. It has 91K on it and it still is going strong. I still get 16/21 mpg and no oil leaks or overheating problems.

I have a 94 chevy blazer... I have not been overly zealous on the maintenance, but I didn't expect the transmission to give out so that I can only drive in 3rd gear! My mechanic says it will cost 3500 to fix, so now I have to trade it in and buy a new car. It is a rather clunky car with several easily breakable parts. When buying an SUV, I recommend making sure the steering is tight and the internal parts durable... no lame plastic parts that snap off or wear out.

I see where one says it didn't stand up to her/his expectations when rented for a long trip. Did you ever think that one was already run to death from being rented & people going nuts driving it?? Another says the gas mileage isn't what they wanted. Well...why didn't you buy a smaller vehicle?? Also, it helps to keep them up (tune-up, etc.). The other one is upset because they didn't make it JUST for them. If you don't like it, don't buy it. I have an 93 Chevy Blazer SE /S10 w/ the Tahoe package & 4WD. It's SO Comfy & I feel safe in it. It's gotten me out of some jams & tows my 2-Horse trailer nicely.

Very outdated Chevy which was replaced by the new Trailblazer. 03 is its last year on the market.

I rented a 2002 for a 500 mile trip, loaded down with a dog, luggage and baby. The Blazer is a piece of total junk! Handling is off, the ride is hard, the interior noise is so loud that you can't talk to the person in the back seat, and for all the hype, it fits no more than a Volvo stationwagon. I'd walk before ever buying one of these things.

I'm terribly disappointed in my recent purchase of a used 1999 Blazer. I'm lucky if I get 14 mpg in the city and 16 on the city freeways. I have never been able to get over 19 mpg on long trips. Not only is the gas mileage terrible, but I find that when I go over bumps or railroad tracks over 4 doors and the hatch shake extremely bad and sound like they are slightly ajar, but they are not. I just put brand new Yokahma tires on it and was hoping to see improvement in the shakiness, but it does not appear to have helped. Other than the points mentioned above, my blazer has been an overall OK.

I just came off a terrible Rodeo and find the blazer to be a firm stable vehicle. What a difference. Extra weight and 15 hp less than the isuzu makes it tough on mountain roads but level it out and it seems pretty good. Heres hoping.
