Worst vehicle ever! I have nearly replaced every motor part I can think of and i only have 62,000 miles on the car. The service is expensive and there are rarely loaner cars available. I honestly think I have invested more money fixing the car than it is worth.

This car can handle anything but she's a thirsty girl...

My brother just got one and I borrow it every chance I get. We already posed it on some rocks for a fantastic suspension flex pic.

If I bought an SUV I'd go for the Discovery. Didn't like it at first but the look grew on me. I'm a big fan of the inside, the windows allow all kinds of light in. Start at $37K, not too bad for a higher end SUV.

Land Rover's original 4x4. Also, the original Luxury SUV. Land Rover has produced a great vehicle. As I have noted, I don't like the Luxury SUV's, but Land Rover's are my exception because they can preform well on 4x4 trails.

bought a 96 disco se7, with only 90,000 miles on it. two shops have now said that is leaking oil from every single orifice. just like that. land rover dealership wants nothing to do with it, wanted me to wait ten days to squeeze me in, mean while i have an oilfield in my driveway. my mechanic told me there was no way landrover could have missed when they did the oil change, however neglected to tell me anything. parts are incredibly expensive, and the dealerships, unless you are dropping 80,000 for a range rover, just plain dont care...DONT DO IT!

Sold my Land Rover Discovery 2002 yesterday, a very happy day!. Nearly rolled over twice. First time my salesman was driving it, entering the freeway from the ramp, went over on two wheels into the ditch, up over and down again into the ditch, finally back on the highway into traffic. Second, I was driving and just changing lanes on a dry highway and found myself on two wheels. Service is bad and expensive. Can only purchase wipers at Land Rover, got caught in a storm with bad wipers so learned my lesson on keeping spares. Unless you are driving over rocks and streams this is not your vehicle. I am a female and looked upon as an alien when entering the Land Rover service dept. Shouldn't need to wait 2 weeks for service when you have oil leaking all over the driveway from the transfer case (replaced twice) new water pump, etc.

Has one of the worst rollover rates. Reliability is horrendous.

Leased a 2001 Discovery. We are in our last year and WILL NOT get another one! We love the looks, room and utility, but, we had to have the car towed TWICE. The first time at about 800 miles when the fan belt came off. The second time was when the ignition switch failed. I have had many new cars, but NEVER have had to be towed in my life. The service is outstanding, but when you get to know your service rep by first name something is very wrong.

Even with its 03 redesign, its still bad. A starting price of $33k for a midsize SUV. It is a midsize, but it has the price of a full size as well as the gas mileage of a full size. A $30k Explorer has much more passenger and cargo room. Reliability has been average.
