Yamaha YZF Series 5

Had an '01 R1, with some tuning by a reputable local race-engine builder. Incredible performance. I think somewhat underrated (!) due to somewhat negative reputation due to all the 'racer-boys'. Very solid handling - Feels carved from billet and stuck to the road when the suspension is properly setup. Virtually unshakeable. When really ridden in it's intended performance envelope it's simply awesome. More bike than most mortals will ever need, when ridden well. Very few (of us...) can really make it breathe hard. Had a lot of 'personality' as well. Like a happy pitbull - Likes to play rough and always seems to ask for more! Also very handsome!

The '98-'01 Yamaha YZF-RI is a great bike! It looks sexy! It handles great and has a very powerful engine.

The best bikes come from Yamaha. They have the newest technology with power to weight ratio. It smokes the competitors.

This is a really cool super bike that is fun and could last a long time. This is one of the many I would like to own.

For a four stroke MX bike, this YZF is the best. It uses the best suspension set up and has the best power to weight ratio on the market. Compared to two cycle MX bike, the price is within reason.

Very less expensive. Runs great. Very, very fast! It's great because the YZF is small with a lot of power.

These bikes are fast and the engineering on these bikes make them extra durable. Performance and style is also great.

I've really enjoyed my Yamaha, it's quick and nimble, 600cc with plenty of power. Weighing in at about 400 lbs. it's a solid ride but not a monster that you can't manuever around town at slow speeds. Stable on the highway (though I'm not a big highway fan) and a real pleasure to ride through the backroads. In a nut shell it's well engineered, runs well, low maitenance and more power and speed than I'll ever need. If you want a total crotch rocket then this probably isn't your bike but if you want a nice ride that's still faster than any car on the road then this is a good choice.
