Worst customer service in the world because nobody has any idea what they're talking about!!! Everybody gives different answers to the same freakin question, and they have you still asking the same damn question after 2 hours on the phone! The connection sucks ever since AT&T took over, and they royally screw your arsenal on overcharges. The taxes are ridiculous too!

Ever since AT&T has taken over Cingular, the service has gotten aweful, reception is out the window, and their website just plain sucks. I live in the country and use to have great reception when Cingular owned it but shortly after AT&T took over my reception went from a 5 to a 1 or 2. If you call Customer service about it they are snide and rude and say well they are working on the towers for the DATA part and has been for the last 6 months if not longer. I'm sorry but my reception shouldn't be this bad just because they are trying to make the data users happy. And on top of that everytime I either try to add to my account or see my bill online at the att.com website I get I'm sorry for the inconvinience blah blah blah. I'm Seriously thinking about switching. Cricket was bad but not nearly as bad as this. I've been with CINGULAR since 2003 would hate to leave but will if they dont care about their ppl!

AT&T is the worst service in the world. You might as well go to Spencer's toy shop and get a trick shocking phone; you might be a little less irritated with that not-so-funny prank than you will be when you get arthritis from redialing endless times until you get mediocre service (at the most). Sometimes your phone might appear to have all bars or at least a good amount, but this doesn't mean you actually get to hear the person on the other end of the line. AT&T makes Keanu Reeves seem like a genius. There isn't much more I can say. Just don't make the stupid switch to this phone company like I did. Sincerely, a pissed off customer><

i get great service with at&t, no more and no less than i did with verizon. im happy with the customer service, weve had more than our fair share of spam charges on our bill and cingular removed them all. Cant say that for verizon. the only thing is their phones - i dont understand what it is with at&t - their phone selections suck. Its either one thing or another. Ive been looking for anohter phone and ive gone through so many reviews and finally decided on the samsung a737. I loved everything about it, every feature...and then we had a rain spell, and I couldnt even use it because no one could hear me. what crap. cingular better catch up to par or im going back to verizon.

AT&T has the worst phone and internet service in the planet. I think bellsouth were prettey good by themselves.
AT&T staff has no knowledge of service. They are very very very incompetent. You get different answers for the same questions from different reps. Their standard of service is very poor or I must say worst. When I had bellsouth, it was great until AT&T jumped in. I don't think their superviors know how inknowledgable their staff is. This would be the last company I would recommend someone. They are full of promises and discounts but not worth it!!!

AT&T is completely incompetent. I hesitantly upgraded to them from CellularOne because I needed a new phone. After 2 weeks I cancelled and was told i would only be billed for the service I used, about a week later I got my first bill for about $130, I figured the correct bill just didn't get sent out yet. The next day i recieved another bill for a little over $30, and the day after that one for $46, and the day after that one for around $65, and finally the next day a service shut-off notice. Finally I called them, told them what happened, got transfered to about 4 different people, which i might add were all completely incompetent, finally i told them to transfer me to a supervisor, when i finally got the supervisor on the phone I explained the situation, she was *suprise* unhelpfull, so i finally told her that they could shut off my service because i didn't have a phone or contract with them anymore so i didn't care, but if they wanted their money they would send me a correct bill otherwise i wasn't paying them a damn cent... So the next week I got a bill from them for about $130, and the next day one for a little over $30, and the day after that one for about $46, and the day after that one for around $65 then finally a call from the AT&T collections department saying I owed $76, I listen to him rudely yammer on and insult me for about 5 min. then finally told him that i had no problem paying the bill, however i would not be paying them anything until they sent me one bill for the correct amount and if they could not do that they would not receive any money from me what so ever. Of course he got ruder, not that that is a suprise to anyone that's ever dealt with this company. It has been about 2 weeks since that phone call, I never received another bill and I just got off the phone with another collection agency saying I owed $67 to AT&T, needless to say I payed that damn $67 because i wasn't letting some incompetent phone company screw up my credit. The plan I had was about $110 a month for 900 minutes with unlimited text and internet, I am currently paying the same amount for double the minutes, better service and much better customer care. Bottom line is, that AT&T doesn't care about it's customers or its service quality, they are a bunch of rude over-payed incompetent jackasses. They dont even deserve to get the one star rating it took to post this!!!

AT$T sucks with such a vacuum, it has forgotten that it is the consumer that has been paying the continuous rising rates that they have seemed to yet to stop. It has been the consumers that have built the empire they have become today and as their continuous crappy attidude is given to the consumers, that and thier ill ways to resolve conflict will just be a matter of time before their great empire falls unless they get a swift kick of attitude adjustment.
Cable unfortunately is starting to look very appealing at this point.

AT&T was my last phone service carrier. When we moved we cancelled our phone service and requested a basic phone line with no extras and a wireless internet modem and card. We were told that our bill would be around 45.00 a month but that there would be a 300.00 charge for the modem and card that would be spread out over 3 months or charged right away. In addition we would recieve a rebate card for the modem in the amount of 100.00. I chose to pay the amount up front and requested a visa type card from them. My first bill was around 200.00 and I assumed that they had decided to charge me for half of the modem/card charges. The second month was the same. When I got the 3rd months bill for 198.00 I called and guess what? After speaking with 7-8 people I was told that they were still charging me for my old service, and that it had never been disconnected. I had been paying for my old service for 3 months and had NEVER received my rebate card. To make up for this they said they would credit me the amount I was over charged on my next bill and would give me high speed internet service for 3 months at no extra charge. My bill would be around 50.00 a month. I agreed and asked if at the end of 3 months I would be notified that the high speed promo was up and I could discontinue that service. I was assured that I could. The next months bill was for 120.00 and when I called there were no notes on the promo. I was not being charged for my old service BUT I was being charged for the high speed connection for the last 15 days of my last billing cycle and for that month's billing cycle. At the same time... my internet quit working and so I was being thrown between customer service , tech support and billing. It was pretty much a nightmare. They assured me that the problem was fixed and that I would not receive another bill for over 50.00 dollars. Well... I just opened my bill for 124.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AT&T really really sucks!
I installed AT&T DSL service last year and there is $100 rebate for the wireless modem, which supposedly should come in 10-12 weeks. It has been over 8 months, but never received. I called the rebate center 4-5 times, but never got an satisfying answer. Some On the 3rd time, a lady told me it should arrive very soon, but, I never see it!!! I called twice after that, no LUCK! Also, when the phone line was first connected, the phone line was messed up, somebody else within the apartment complex had the phone number. The person used the phone number and made some long distance calls, which was charged to as well. I argued, but they just forgot to take it from my bill! A third thing is that my phone line was disconnected one day without any reason. I called and it took them 3 days to fix it. What a bad choice, I will disconnect soon!

Horrible company! Will never do business with them again. Set up service and was charged $50 to my bank account that I was told would not be charged until I recieved my bill. This miscommunication almost caused me to be overdrawn on that account. Then, when I received the bill, which I was quoted at $78/month, the bill was $300!!!
I called the company about it, and they transferred me around to different people, none of which were helpful, for 3 HOURS. After I said I wanted to cancel they finally transferred me to a supervisor (which by the way, asking for a supervisor from the beginning didn't work, because they put me on hold for 10 min and told me the supervisor was "unavailable to come to the phone"). This woman asked me what could be done to keep me from cancelling. I told her I was never informed of the $200 worth of activation fees, and that I still hadn't recieved the $125 rebate card I was promised when signed up. She knocked $50 off the $300, and promised the bill would be $78 from then on as originally quoted, and that she would make sure the rebate card was sent.
A month passed, the service was terrible, the Dish TV worked sometimes, had several infomercial channels, and several duplicate channels, and the recording feature didn't work very well. It would miss recordings of some of our favorite shows and record duplicates of others. One which we never told it to record. Also the internet worked only 70% of the time. I can't say much about the phone, with the cost per minute to use the phone, I refused to even plug it in. By the way, did you know if your Dish reciever box is disconnected from the phone line at any time you get charged a penalty fee?
A month had passed and I still had not received the rebate card, however, I did receive the next bill, which was $96!
I called, and told them I was not happy and wanted to cancel. They transferred me around some more, and one guy even tried to argue with me over $4 of it. Outrageous. I had to just keep telling every person I was transferred to "I want to cancel. I want to cancel. I just want to cancel." They were rude, incompetent, the service was terrible, and now I am out $400 for this terrible experience. I will never do business with these people again.

ATT has been overbilling me. Contacting them results in different information every time I call, and I get routed to all sorts of departments. I wish I had recorded my conversations with them from the beginning. Right now, I've been on hold with ATT for 1 hour, waiting to pay my final bill for my long-terminated service (it had been ended 2 months ago, and I've taken reasonable actions to pay my final bill from the beginning).

Instead of sending me promotional material regarding your great
"services" and "promotions" and soliciting pleasant stories from your
clients, please allow me to share one of my horror stories with you.
About two weeks ago I took advantage of your AT&T promotion using the
Administaff promotional code provided. I ordered a cell phone and a
plan. There were no problems with the order until I activated the the
phone and made a billing inquiry. I was told that for the Administaff
discount I would need to provide "proof" that I was eligible for it.
This was the first time I had heard of this. To make matters worse I
talked to several reps that couldn't tell me exactly what I needed to
do. Even though I ordered the phone over the phone and received it in
the mail I was told to go to an AT&T store to "pick up a form" to mail
in. Eventually after several hours I talked to a "manager" named
Shirley that told me I was not eligible for the promotion at all since
I was not a direct Administaff employee. She told me I was required to
have an Administaff email account in order to receive the promotion. I told her Administaff does the payroll company for the company I work for and I am eligible for all their promotions including AT&T. She didn't seem to understand or listen. Ultimately she said they would honor the promotion for the first two years but after that I would need an Administaff "email account". I reluctantly agreed.
The next day I found that AT&T had maliciously reversed the porting of
my number back to my TracFone account. Apparently I had pissed some
people off there. When I inquired about this I was told the porting
had never taking place even though I had verified the successful port
myself the day before. They told me this wasn't in the records and I
didn't know what I was talking about. They were extremely rude. To
make matters worse when I canceled my account that day they
deactivated not only my temporary cell phone number but also the
TracFone number that all of my business contacts have. I then had to
run out and immediately buy another cell phone as I am away on
business and in need of a phone. I now have to forward my new number
to numerous business contacts.

I have a LONG story but I will make it simple. I have never dealt with such a disorganized company. Here it goes:

August-Ordered AT&T bundle (U-verse, high speed internet, land line)

Mid August-phone line activated, no modem arrives, person to set up U-verse no shows. I requested a specific phone number, was told it was available, but they changed it without me knowing. Because of this, everytime they asked for my account number I didn't know it, and they had a lot of trouble finding me in their system

Late August-was told modem will be coming, and "Dish" service wil be installed soon. (OOPS! There's no U-verse capabilities in my neighborhood yet nobody mentioned this to me) Once again, Dish Network No-shows twice. Modem finally shows up.

Early September-Fed up, we call and cancel Dish and Internet.

Between early September-late October:

4 different hour long phone calls to AT&T to remove charges for the Internet and Dish that we never used. The 49.99 dish charge is STILL showing up on my bill, when dish was never even installed in my home. I was finally told today that it takes 90 days to be removed..nobody else I've spoken to knew that?

I'm actually leaving MANY details out. This company is useless for everything but cell and land lines.

ATT promises one thing then when your bill arrives . .. surprise surprise . .. . unethical sales offering packages and specials that they are not willing to honor, I have a formal complaint in ATT that is still to be resolved if ever.
ABsolutely nightmerish customer service, unethical sales and promises fo services and rates "better than cable"i'm not talking speeds here jus $$ not true all lies and then they refuse to resolve the issue, they make a big deal out of it and stretch it out to give you an applology but not the servicers and rates they offered initially.
STAY WAY FORM DSL services go CABLE faster and more ethical. I'mad as heck and not taking it any more my guns are loaded now. .. .

God Bless;

Gonzalo

I would like to start by saying that I have never filed a formal complaint against anyone for anything and that I work in customer service myself, but I am FED UP! I have an at&t bundle package, this includes home phone, dsl internet and dish network. I have had nothing but problems since the beginning. The first months bill came (should be around $100 normally, but came to be $253) and I was more than overcharged for everything listed. Then I recieved a Dish Network bill. This means I was charged twice for dish network. OK, simple, I can have this fixed!... Not really. I spent 3 hours on the phone back and forth with AT&T and Dish, noone could help me. finally someone could "fix" the problem and told me not to worry about the dish bill. I believed this. STUPID. I then recieved the next AT&T bill, followed by another Dish Network bill. This time I had late charges. SO I wasted another day off trying to fix the problem only to discover that Dish had debundled me, a system gliche, and it would take up to 3 billing cycles to get back to normal. I have only had the service for 3 months and have been screwed up for all of those 3 months. AT&T assured me that they would pay the costs and have everything fixed right away. They even called Dish Network and explained the problem and solution. Fine. EXCEPT now my Dish Network has been shut off. soooo... not only have I had nothing but problems, bad service and two bills, I also have been paying for a service that I can not longer recieve because I "didn't pay"!!!

AT&T has the absolute worst service and customer service of any "service" provider, period. I wanted to give them zero stars, but the webpage wouldn't let me. They made a billing error five months ago, I have spent over an hour on the phone with them every month trying to fix the problem. The whole problem occurred because I tried to combine my cell phone bill with my home phone bill. Now I'm out 6 hours of my life and the problem is still not fixed. Topping the whole thing off, every month I call and eventually I get someone who says "we have fixed the problem." But it never fails, the next month I have to call again. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, use AT&T. If you can use any other provider and you do not, you are an IDIOT!!

AT&T is a joke. Like the reviewer "ZippyThePinhead", I too became lodged in between two separate AT&T's with the exact same billing stationery only one using my telephone number and another using some unrelated account number. I pay through my bank online and, when my bank tried to investigate why my checks where being cashed by AT&T yet they kept sending delinquent notices, even my bank couldn't figure out what the hell was going on. Frankly, I don't know who the f___ I'm paying. For all I know, I'm paying the mob in Jersey somewhere. And, for additonal laughs, these douchebags' automated payment service called me to take care of god-knows-what and they put me on hold due to high-call volume and then proceded to tell me that Wednesdays thru Fridays are better times to call. YOU CALLED ME, YOU JACKASSES. Ah, I feel better now. I'm going back to using two soup cans and some kite string. I hope AT&T goes out of business. They've earned it.

While in the process of moving, we consulted with AT&T to see if we were able to get high speed intrernet where we were moving to, the middle of the woods some 17 miles to the west. They assured us "yes". About a month later, we are all moved in, AT&T calls and tells us they can't set up high speed internet out here. Instead we have to settle with their dial up service which is slower than snail turds. They were supposed to hook up the phone line on a staurday (didn't give a time) but we had to be home so he can set it up. they never showed up that Saturday and that was a wasted weekend. The same thing happened the next weekend. When we finally got our phone line hooked up, the stupid lady on the phone HAD THE BALLS to ask if we had any of their other services. I said "you are lucky You guys are the only ones we can afford at the moment". I can't wait for their 6 month contract to expire in september, we can finally get AOL again, a major step up from AT&T. PLEASE DON'T GET AT&T!!!!!! THEY WILL ONLY MAKE YOU STRESSED AND SAD.

-Terrible customer service, long holding times

- 50% of the time it is an automated voice.

-Don't Get AT&T, even if you have to find out for yourself to see how good they are, please don't!!! There are so many other carriers out there!!!

AT&T just merged with SBC here in California. I've been an AT&T shareholder and a faithful, happy customer for more years than I can remember. A couple of days ago, I got two bills from AT&T. One is apparently from the pre-merger AT&T, and one is apparently from the post-merger AT&T. I guess the new logo is supposed to be a major tip-off that significant things have changed, even though both bills require a check be made out to AT&T and sent to AT&T.
The main reason I'm here writing this slammin' review is because I just realized-- after reading both the bills-- that AT&T has kept me as a customer but they've done away with all my calling plans. Previously we were paying for domestic and international long distance (both plans were each about $3 per month, and gave me rates of $0.07/minute for domestic and $0.09/minute for international calls). Our average usage produced a bill that was around $75/month, including everything. This was year in, year out. Now the new AT&T-- if I go out of my way and get in contact with them, actually select new calling plans, etc.-- seems to be aiming to raise my bill by about $20-25/month, if we maintain the same level of usage as before. I did the math on this and everything... I went back and looked at six months of recent bills to get average usage figures, so I'm not pulling these numbers out of my a$$.
All of this has pretty much pi$$ed me off, so I wanted to come over here and share with you-all. Maybe in a few months I'll be able to tell you how it is being a Verizon customer.

Telephone service is excellent. Sadly that is where they fall off. Customer service, well they out sourced it, so that speaks for itself. I do have one major problem with their customer service. Their new service representatives are more concerned with telling you how sorry they are, than they are in fixing your problems.

Call notes? Well, it wouldn't be so bad if they took time to communicate with the customer regarding the call forward, busy line, don't answer feature instead of just arbitrarily setting it themselves. This feature still hasn't been adjusted to my satisfaction.

Internet service? They have oversold their service and have to scramble to realign resources every time you try to access the net. Their equipment isn't worth the trouble either, do yourself a favor and buy your own. You will save loads. Which I did. I purchased a business class router, (which they also sell at a high premium.) When I called for tech support I was told that "We do not offer tech support on equipment not purchased from us." Even though it was the same model number and manufacturer of the equipment they sell from their trucks.

As a retiree from AT&T, I am very sad to see such an icon of Americana, fallen so low.

It is a horrible that a company this big wants to take over the entire telephone industry. The purpose of splitting up ATT many years ago was to increase competition in the industy to help decrease rates and improve customer service and give people a choice. Now the government has allowed this company to merge with Bellsouth and other companies and again become too large and limits customer choice and freedom. I do not like this company at all.

Got suckered into an AT&T pkg deal that was supposed to cost $100/month for phone/DSL/Dish - so far it has cost me $250/month. I dropped my cable and Vonage - what a fool. I will go back as soon as I figure a way out of AT&Ts fraudulent contract. I strongly recommend that no one fall for any AT&T/Dish deals - they are not what they advertise.

Well let me say that I worked for ATT (also called Ma Bell) in the old days and it was a good place to work. That was back when we only had one phone co., and maybe we paid higher rates but look at the serivice you got. I can remember the telephone repair person fixing the phone for my parents. Nowdays they tell you they don't fix phones and they want to charge extra to fix the inside telephone wire if your not paying extra for the inside wire plan.

Unusually dishonest for such a large company.

Let me just start by saying AT&T is nothing but a bunch of greedy A-HOLES! I had phone service with sprint, local and long distance, and not only did ATT charge me for long distance, but they ILLEGALLY switched me to their long distance! I have been trying to get a matter of $616 resolved with them for over a year now, i even got the public utilities commission involved, and they actually lied to them too. i am 18 yrs old and barely starting to establish my credit, and because of ATT i have a debt on their already. i hate ATT with a passion...i think they should be sued and sued and sued till they have no more money left to run their greedy, money hungry corporation.

I had no problem with AT&T untill I tried to drop them. I swithed to Sprint. About three months later I started getting a bill from them again. I tried calling, but getting a real person on the phone is nearly impossible. I emailed them about the problem and recieved a reply back saying I wouldn't get billed again. About two months later it started all over again.

I used to really like AT&T until they began dropping all the rates and I had to leave cancel service just to hook it up again in order to benefit from the lower rates. Too much of a hassel just to use the phone.

I can't begin to tell you how horrible these people are! First, they lied to me about what my monthly local charges would be. when I discoverd that the charges would be greater than what they quoted me, I cancelled the service and switched back to SBC. I kept my long distance service with them, though. I continued to be charged for my local service for 8 more months! Every month I would call when I received the bill, and every month they would tell me that my case was "caught up in their computer" and not to worry about it. Then, every other month, I would get a disconnection notice for not paying my bill! It was only after I involved the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio that they finally took care of my bill. THEN...just last month, I was told that my long distance service with them had been terminated. I called and they told me that, in fact, they had terminated my service in error, but that I would have to reapply (i.e. do the credit check etc.) to have service reapplied. I told them they were out of their minds if they thought I was going to do that and promptly switched to another carrier. PLEASE DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE!!!

This service was "automatically" chosen for a computer line I added. WIthout any notification they assumed LD service for my phone and charged me for it for months. Everytime I put a block on the charge, they would change the price they charged me. Clever, huh. So if the charge was 14.03 and I blocked it, they charged 14.04. I never was able to recover all the money they charged me

I switched back to AT&T a little while back after a miserable experience with MCI and I have been largely satisfied. I have the $.07/minute plan with a $5 monthly fee. While I may be able to save a few bucks somewhere else, after my experience with MCI, I'd rather pay a little extra to avoid any headaches. Also, they have recently added a cool feature. When I make a long distance call, a voice comes on the line that thanks me for using AT&T and tells me what time it is in the area that I'm calling. While this may get old after a while, this is a nice feature for someone like me whose long distance calls are primarily to other time zones.

Good service, and a good company, but if you don't call long distance enough, the price is too high. The Pac Bell combined with the AT&T bill is $45 for $5 worth of talk time which is ridiculous.

My mother uses AT&T long distance service and I used to own an AT&T calling card. AT&T always has competively low rates, which is what I like about them.

I've tried Sprint and MCI, but I always come back to AT&T. Now with its takeovers, I believe AT&T will be one of the best for both long distance and internet service.

I did not like their services at all. I joined on a special plan which offered better rates, but that never happened. Because of them, I won't get a long distance carrier. I just dial the 10-10 numbers.

For a long time I have used this service. However, in the past I was not satisfied with the service. I contacted customer service, and I was not satisfied, so I eventually changed services. Whether my decision was their fault or mine, I decided to change services. Maybe in the future I will try this service again.

I think AT&T does a lot of false advertising. They tell you that you will save money, but you never see it on your phone bill.

The service is okay, but sometimes there are unclear lines on the services. Since there are some other providers that are much cheaper, I use those. In case of an emergency, AT&T can be relied on.
