The lady has endured customer 'service' at the hands of this company that defies my ability to accurately describe the nightmare that ensues. Words really fail me. . .One time she was treated so terribly I envisioned how a prison inmate would be treated if he complained of a splinter in his pinky. Not. . .very. . .well. . .

AT&T wireless is awful and getting worse. You can say what you want about all the iPhones eating up the bandwidth, but its simply not true at 3am to 6am when I do a great deal of my calling (I work at night). When driving, the dead spots are the same as during peak time, both with my iPhone and my friends flip phone. There is an entire swath of lower Manhattan where AT&T has little or no service, and if you stand on 17th street a few feet from the AT&T store on the corner of 6th Avenue you'll find NO SERVICE there - standing outside of their store!I was trying to console a friend who called me during my drive home, something very bad had happened, and in a six mile drive the call dropped 12 times - TWELVE TIMES AT 5AM. This destroyed the last of my patience with AT&T and I'm deciding which company to move to. Probably Verizon, they have the best service. I love the iPhone but I just can't continue giving AT&T $120+ a month for their degrading service. As if this isn't bad enough, AT&T's MANDATORY internet barely works on a good day, and generally freezes even with full bars.Tomorrow I'm writing Apple. If Steve Jobs can lord over his employees he should have some clout with AT&T. He should open the iPhone to other carriers before AT&T hurts his business anymore.

I dont like this company at all....the customer service is the worst...my bill is consistently incorrect...I have many dropped calls...they certainly dont "raise the bars" because the reception sucks...the only reason I am with them is because of the Iphone and I am about to say the hell with that
Marie0909 03/31/2009
I think At&T Wireless has very good service. I had them for a three months now,and I get reception in my house as well in the building I work in. I live in Chicago and I think they coverage is solid here. I cant say for other states and that being the reason I dont travel often. But if I ever do get the chance to travel to another state I will be giving and update to let everyone know my experience. I had Verizon Wireless and I couldnt get reception in some places and they phones and service was terrible! Like when I made a couple of calls I got echos in the background had to stop my conversation and turn off my phone and turn it back on and that part was pissing me off! With AT & T I dont have that problem, I love they roll over minute plan because im true chatter box and those unused minutes really comes in handy, and they just keep adding up! and oh far as dropped calls I havent experienced any as of yet. Customer Service I really cant say anything bad about them that is because I havent had to call them with any issues. I see other people complaints that are bad on here but maybe because im a new customer, or im just lucky right now at this moment. Maybe in the near future I may have complaints and then again maybe I wont who knows time will tell.

AT&T MAKES ME WANT TO SHOOT MY SELF IN THE HEAD IT SOUNDs BAD BUT THE COMPANY TRULY SUCKS BIG **** The plans suck in my eyes I joined the service when it was cingular and it was by far way better. With way better service plans that let you customize the way you talk now with at&terrible I get to choose from a plan with 450 min for $50 something or the next plan above that which is $70 something for 900 min Thoes choices suck. When it was cingular you could have 700 min with text and pic message for $55. The whole company sucks in general bad customer services, bad services plans, bad insuranse plans. I mean come on you pay an extra $6 a month for insurance, use your phone for a whole year need a replacement and they want to charge you an additional $50 and they make you keep the same style phone you orginaly got, no switching phones for the newest modle they give you back your new outdated old A** version phone that looks like a F****** brick. I have 3 word for AT&T SUCK MY D***. Don't be like me and become a fool and get tricked into their fancy phones the company sucks!!!!!!

Horrible! That is the only way to describe AT&T.If you ever need help with something or want to talk with someone about your bill GOOD LUCK! Service is awful!

For the past year before Cingular became At&t Ive had pick your plan. Went with it for the no contract after being screwed and over charged with sprint. And here in Vegas I have had absolutely no problems with this phone, reception or cs. and has been fine when Ive went out of town to L.A. Only thing that would make this better for me is if they started to make plans that included text messages because I dont like having to pay $20 a mo. for unlimited text. They change that itd be perfect to me.

I've being complaining to att customer service for two years about thier bad service and dead zone. They have done nothing but try and blame it on my phone!!
mgt 11/19/2007
How about.0001 star if that! Ever since Att took over cingular the greedy bastards have milked 100s of millions of dollars off unsuspecting clueless customers. I have one line with T-mobile and they are great and they treat you like a real human not a pod sucker from the movie Matrix. As soon as the contract is up at ATT that number goes to t-mobile. Att is the scum of the earth, stay away!!!!!!!!!

I wish I had known earlier that the service was so bad compared to my current carrier T-Mobil. After cancelling my account 5 months ago, they would never send me a final itemized bill. Despite being told by reps & supervisors that the problem was fixed, & late fees, etc. would be waived, got turned over to collections. At this point, cust. serv. became rude, telling me that I had lied about not receiving the bills and told me that to pull my acct. from collections, I would have to pay them an extra 18% on top of what I owed. Said that there was no one else I could speak to about the issue, & can't get an address to mail complaints ANYWHERE. What a way to treat a 5-year customer.

AT&T Wireless Services, they are the coolest company ever!! and i don't care if this comment doesn't help you
Tiffany1986 01/23/2006
A year ago I would have given five stars. I got my phone for free, and all I do is go to walmart and buy one of those cellphone cards for my minutes. It is kind of annoying that before every call connects it reads your cell minutes "based on where you are calling, your account has *** minutes of talk time available" THEN it rings. So it is annoying if you're in a hurry. I had no problems with this phone until a few days ago. It restarts by itself..weird. But it is three or four years old and I use it a lot so I guess its just worn out. I will see about getting a new phone...depending on their customer service and how accomidating they are I'll change my score accordingly.
texahoma 09/14/2005
All I can say I will never use AT&T or Cingular again. I have never had such bad reception and dropped calls.
CptnManguera 10/21/2004
Rate plans are reasonably priced. However, wait time to connect with customer service is horrible! There have been times when I have been on hold for almost 30 minutes and in one case over 30 minutes. The last couple of days, though, I have gotten through right away. Coverage is great. Went to to Tallahassee, Florida and extended area appeared on my phone, although I have a national plan. I called and asked about this and was told that there was roaming in that area. Called several more times was told the same. Last couple of times I called, guess what! No roaming! Confusing, is it not? What is aggravating is the fact the area in question is the state capitol! Overall, though, AT&T is an average service.
annie_belle123 07/19/2004
I have been on the phone all day with AT&T trying to resolve a problem. They transfered me to the Resolution Department and I talked to the biggest b***h in the world! I have never been able to call customer service and have a problem resolved. Never go AT&T. We are switching as soon as possible.
awheele1 07/11/2004
The coverage area was the best for me and they offere a comparable, or better, amount of minutes. While I like the coverage and plan, the cusomer service is not so great. There are usually long delays and then it takes a long time to actually speak to someone who can help you with your inquiries.
starange1 06/12/2004
GSM coverage sucks
joe530 05/27/2004
The service was so-so in the northern california area. The real problem i had was in the billing. AT&T would charge me for services i did not want/order/use and then when i called them on it they would not rescind the charges. The billing that they use is quite suspect and i reported them to the better business bureau.
migatitorojo 05/06/2004
I got my first cellphone in december '03. It was on the att digital one rate plan... meaning i could travel anywhere in the US and use my phone without roaming charges... it was good, i had service almost everywhere, but it was expensive ($60/mo for 450min, no nights/weekends) I decided to get the GSM america national a few weeks ago... I figured it was about the same plan, but with less coverage, lots cheaper ($40/month, unlimited N/W, 450min) I had to call customer service to get them to help me, cuz the att webpage kept telling me i was in an area not covered (i wasn't) the customer service picked up everytime i called within 2minutes, and they were nice, but couldn't get me set up. I had to buy a new plan, with a different phone # and another contract, but it's worked out alright... overall, they have a few issues with gsm migration as they called it, but other than that i always got pretty good service, really good deals, and i don't know of any billing errors. my friends with verizon do get better coverage, i think... on cape cod, MA, at least.
julie99 03/14/2004
At&t has the worst customer service, they leave you on hold so long. My best friend and I called and we were holding for a hour and then when they finally got on the phone it took a hour for them to help us. I can't use my cell phone in my own house or in my job at all, their reception sucks so bad. I wouldn't recommend anybody to switch to At&t. THEY SUCK!!!!!
frodo322 01/08/2004
AT&T Wireless really has horrific customer service by far the worst I have ever experienced anywhere. It is difficult for an outsider reader to properly comprehend how bad it actually is and before anyone considers obtaining a cell phone with AT&T, they should carefully read the many negative comments on this and other web sites. I went to an AT&T store, spent an hour with the salesman choosing a phone, a plan and trying to get it activated. Their computers were down that day and he said he couldnt activate it, so I asked them to ship me the phone. A week later it arrived. When I tried to get my new phone activated, I made four separate calls to customer service and waited a total of three hours and forty minutes on hold without success. Then, when I decided to cancel my contract and return the phone, I made seven calls totaling four hours and ten minutes to AT&Ts customer service department over a six week period before they actually sent the return paperwork. In comparison, I went to the Verizon store, chose my phone, chose my plan, had everything activated and was out the door in 15 minutes. When I called Verizon's customer service line with a technical question I had my answer in 5 minutes. Enough said?
mommyof2 01/05/2004
The coverage is off and on...I can't depend on being able to be reached. They also gave me a long distance #! My phone didn't even work for the first 3 months, but it was impossible to get ahold of anyone. They insist they can't do anything about the phone #. Hopefully, I can get out of the contract. Either way, I would never go with AT&T no matter what great offer they have.
tabano 12/31/2003
I could not imagine a worse company for customer service. I have now been sold 2 service contracts with FRAUDULANT services and was made promises for all kinds of things that later I found out were completely false. I even got one in WRITING and AT&T still won't honor it. I've filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and will NOT renew my contract with them. CUSTOMERS BEWARE OF THEIR SALES PEOPLE AT THEIR 1-800 NUMBERS- YESTERDAY I WAS ON HOLD FOR OVER 2 HOURS- LITERALLY! It is unreal how awful their customer service operators are at resolving disputes, nice people, but they're favorite phrase is there's nothing I can do.
rogerstanton 12/28/2003
Decent coverage marred by the worst customer service in the business.
dadurunrun 12/10/2003
Agonizingly slow customer service Over a four-week period, I spent hours on hold listening to their badly distorted company jingle waiting for another of AT&Ts indecisive customer representatives trying to figure out how to solve one simple problem. I finally dumped them and am pleased to report that the service at Verizon is light years ahead of these dinosaurs
mikev 12/08/2003
Ridiculously incompetent customer service. Really unbecoming of a company of this stature. It has taken me four weeks and seven telephone calls to get them to resolve one simple problem. My contract is up soon and I will take my business elsewhere.
hugofela1 12/07/2003
I had AT&T Wireless for three years. My phone works fairly well in the greater New York area but anytime I had to call them with a problem I experienced terribly long waits and found their customer service staff to be surprisingly inept.
tvtator 11/29/2003
They aren't the best Wireless Service. Although my phones have worked pretty well. My complaint with AT&T Wireless is their customer service it is like Dr Jekyl and Mr Hyde, one moment they are friendly the next they are not. I know people where some they treated fine and the other they treated shabbily. One representative even hung up on someone. As a company that should not be done. Another thing is I wanted a new updated phone, and I had to fight, as a long time customer to get any kind of deal. Another person I know who is with a different company was offered an upgrade to the phone that I really wanted but AT&T said I'd have to go to a much higher monthly rate, my collegue did not and this person has a better phone. When I'm done with this contract with AT&T I think I'll look for another service
Charles Manning 11/29/2003
Truly awful customer service.
mtenkate 09/04/2003
I live in the heart of the Midwest. I have never experienced a dropped or a missed call with this company. However, what I do have frequently happen is billing errors! I have more than once had to call, and even go down to the office to get charges removed for calls that were supposed to be in my coverage area. Make sure you ask for detailed answers when inquiring about their plans!
Apple3 08/06/2003
AT&T has always worked for me in Florida. My wife has Sprint and it drops out all the time. When we are out together and want to make a call, we choose AT&T for solid clear service.
fresh 07/17/2003
i'm not sure what the service is like in other places, but as a resident of vancouver, canada and a rogers AT&T wireless subscriber, i would have to say that the service is extremely poor. perhaps this fault is attributed to my phone, but i know other subscribers who could agree with me on this one.
cyberdug 07/17/2003
The coverage isn't very good here in Indiana either. I live in Indianapolis, and I have no signal at my mothers house in Southbend, nor at my in-laws house in Ft Wayne. My wife has Sprint and is always ribbing me about how she can talk and I can't...:o(
jcoughlen 04/27/2003
WORST SERVICE EVER!!! I cringe everytime I hear there name!
RADIOMAN 04/10/2003
I have used AT&T wireless,Nextel, Cellular one and Sprint. And out of all of these AT@T is far the worst, there line of Nokia phones are built like garbage, there service is at best sporatic and there service department is the pitts. Last week I had a problem with my AT&T phone (we use them at work) it took them all day to troubleshoot the problem. There fix, take the phone back to the store from which it came. So I did, the woman there spent two hours on the phone with AT&T service before they deduced the problem was with my phone. So AT&T's fix was to give me a loaner while mine was scrutinized by there tech department. This phone is a real winner, every time you to use it or even if you just pick it up to use it, the damn battery falls out of it and hits the floor. This is only one of many AT&T horror stories I can tell you, beleive me there many others. You want good cellular service go with Sprint or Nextel..
goldensugar 03/23/2003
at@t have fairly good service for the nyc area. However,i noticed when i could not get service my friends with sprint pcs did..which was funny considering i left sprint for them. Now the bad part...i needed more day time minutes with at&t so the csr suggested i switch plans. It was a great idea until i got the $340 bill!when i went to complain i was told my free minutes NOW start at 9 pm no longer 8.Then i was informed my contrant was extended another 6 months!!! of course the rep did not inform me of that. Now the good side..the rep on the phone credited my account of the minutes i was not informed were no longer free..and i got my contract re-adjusted i just had to go back to my old plan..needless to say the day my contract was up i was out!

AT&T Wireless Services, they are the coolest company ever!! and i don't care if this comment doesn't help you.
andromeda731 01/29/2003
I have been with AT&T for 2 years and I have been horribly dissatisfied! They have ZERO coverage and when I do get a signal the calls are dropped before I can even say "hello." As a college student travelling back and forth between New York and San Francisco, I expected more reception, especially in an urban environment but no, I almost never get a signal and it never stays constant when I do get one. I have walked all over San Francisco trying to get a signal and the only place I could get one was the very top floor of a tall building. There have been countless times when I really needed to make a call and have been sorely dissopointed with AT&T's service. Suffice it to say I'm not going back when it comes time to sign a new contract.
consumergal 12/27/2002
Coverage in the Denver area is great, and I have had good experiences with customer service. They have responded immediately to my questions and issues. The one downside for me is the long-distance plans are a bit more expensive than with other carriers.
le-prof 12/07/2002
I've had service with Sprint PCS and T-Mobile in the past, and neither can compare with AT&T Wireless here in the DFW area. I have good sound reception everywhere I go, and nice customer service people to deal with... (Poor customer service and a lack of "right" answers were one of the main reasons I left Sprint & T-Mobile.) My friends also have AT&T and love it--unlike my father who does business work around DFW and uses Sprint--he gets dropped all the time.
meistre 11/19/2002
These are just a few examples of my experiences with AT&T: 1st, I upgraded my equipment to the new GSM service and through a series of blunders made by several AT&T employees, it took over 5 days to restore my service. 2nd, after being convinced over the phone by an AT&T rep that purchasing new equipment at a brick and mortar location would save me having to rely on telephone, shipping and/or internet repairs to the equipment, I went to great lengths and delays to seek out a retail outlet. I was lied to. 3rd, my phone dies after 6 weeks and I travel back to the place where I had made my purchase. I'm standing in the store, on the phone with the warranty center and AT&T is unable to help me on the spot. Instead, I'm sent home without a phone and promised that one will arrive at my office in two days - we'll see. Still, if customer's best interests were important to them, they could have sent me home with a replacement phone, restored my service with minimal delay, and replaced the phone for the store - y'know, sorta like any other retail business. My next phone will be from any other service!
CastleBee 11/11/2002
It's the only one I've ever tried and must say I have mixed feelings. The basic service has always been fairly reliable however...what I do not like is the mysterious way my bill keeps getting bigger and bigger with "additional fees". I also didn't really care too much for the one time in 20 months that I went about 3 minutes over my time and was socked for something in the neighborhood of $10 more. I seriously think they should consider the rollover minutes or use/pay as you go type plans. Unfortunately for me, when I contacted them recently, they told me they not only currently do not have this type feature but apparently also have no plans to add it in the near future. So, unfortunately for them, I'm planning to do some serious shopping around and when my contract is up in February it will more than likely be goodbye AT&T.
katk 10/09/2001
For San Francisco, I heard it had the best reception which is why I signed up. So far, I haven't had any issues and reception has been good. However, it is more expensive than other plans (Verizon, Sprint) and there isn't as much a variety in compatible phones.
MIKEH 04/16/2001
Good rate and good service
camaron 01/08/2001
This service is a little expensive, since it is a long distance service. It is good for long distance calls for people who travel a lot.
Care Bear 01/08/2001
They have free long distance within the state.
DinkyDoorknob 01/04/2001
Judging from the other comments, AT&T's service seems to vary widely depending on where you are. In the NY/NJ/CT area, I can tell you, service is horrible. I've got a Nokia 8260 phone through work, and it's downright embarrassing -- I'm hesitant to use it for any important call, it's so unreliable. My colleagues feel the same way (they call it 'AT&Terrible'), so it's not just my phone. My wife has much better service with SprintPCS, despite using a cheap outdated phone.
kathysays 12/31/2000
AT&T has truly disappointed. I hooked up with the Nokia 8260 phone as a X-mas present for myself. Well as soon as I dig myself out (its snowing big time in NY) I'm returning it. Every call I've made either the connection has broken down or the reception sucks!!! I refuse to stick it out for a year. Thank God there is a 30 day money back guarantee!!!
darrylb 12/22/2000
Best services in Orlando Florida! I get reception even outside of the areas they said it wont work in! Airports, school buildings, perfectly fine, when all my other school mates get zero reception. Even my friends Sprint PCS sometimes doesnt work as good as my AT&T! And for the price they are amazing!
