I came to this brand fairly late in life: I had been playing for 30 years before I bought my first Gibson. Now I have two: an early 2000s Les Paul Special and a 1953 ES125. The Les Paul Special is a heavy-duty, no frills model and truly delivers. It sounds better than it plays. The ES125 still plays well and those vintage P-90 pick-ups are screamers. I'd like to get my hands on a Melodymaker or a Les Paul Junior, because I love those deliberately throw-back guitars. And, although I'm not really a bassist, I have played a few Gibson models and found them to be quite good.

I own a Gibson Les Paul and I love it. It is a 1976 tobacco sunburst custom. It plays great and sounds great as well. The Les Paul is heavier than most electric guitars but considering the sound quality obtained the extra weight is worth it.
