 | SchadenfreudianSlip (18) 05/04/2007 | I used to play a 5-string fretless Ibanez bass (in another life, long, long ago). I've switched to guitar as a means to flesh out melodies which I later transpose by piano on sheet music. The Ibanez brand is so far superior for the $$$. I own a gorgeous transparent-cherry AS-73 hollowbody...I can make it sing like an opera star or git down 'n dirty like Janis Joplin w/Big Brother and the Holding Co. Prefer it over Gibson SG's, Epiphones and even compare it to Gretsch Nashville models. It's comes with great (no-name/Ibanez) pickups.

My Fender feels like a log around my neck now, and the neck seems waaay too chunky in comparison. Im sold for life!!!

 | drlove (0) 07/24/2005 | After long years of playing my strat i decided that it was time for a new guitar. So off i went to the guitar shop and came across an ibanez. The neck and fret length complimented the style of playing i had grown acoustomed to as they had a similar feel to my start, and ultimately i decided to buy it. However, 3 years have past since my purchase and i find myself dissapointed with the guitar. When i play...it lacks feeling, emotion and soul. Im constantly having to retune the strings after bending or use of the whammy bar and although the pick ups on it are better than those on my strat...the body of the guitar severly lacks solidity which is essential for resonance and sustain. With that said, i must point out that if anyone is looking for a guitar purely for detuned nu-metal/heavy metal style then the ibanez can provide you with that deep heavy raunchy two note power chord sound on overdrive. In addition, the fret length and width give you with the neck freedom for two hand tapping and to re-create that Joe Satriani sound.
