I don't buy into the 'WalMart is Evil' line of thinking, that they have set North America on a road to consumer ruin in their race to reach the lowest cost point. But I do subscribe to the 'WalMart is Crap' school - that even though you aren't spending much, you are generally getting what you pay for, or less, when you walk out of the store with a bag full of merchandise. We are all, or should be any way, reasonably smart enough to do the calculation on the cost/quality ratio of the money you spend there.

Wal-Mart is a pretty good store. The one in Morristown, Tennessee became better in 2001. They moved across the road from the College Square Mall. Their new store is bigger than the other one. When they moved to the new store, they started selling groceries too. Their employees seem to be friendly. But in late 1993 an old hag who worked at the Morristown Wal-Mart was rude. I hate to refer to a person as an old hag but in that woman's case, I'll make an exception.Wal-Mart will take returns without a receipt. All you have to show them is a Picture ID. They won't give a refund without a receipt but they will give store credit.I like Wal-Mart better than Kmart. I bought a one gallon gas can at Wal-Mart for about $2.66. Kmart was charging $8 for a one gallon gas can. I know which store I prefer.

Why can't Walmart be clean with professional employees. Why? The worst Walmarts I have ever been to were located at: 1300 Des Plaines Ave (at Roosevelt Rd) Forest Park, IL 60130(708) 366-3608 4650 W North Ave (at Kilpatrick Ave) Chicago, IL 60639 (773) 252-7465 I need to know why the Walmarts located in Chicago are filthy with unprofessional employees? It's not just one employee, it's all the employees and the overall condition of the store is terrible. This is what I have experienced: 1) Employees talking loudly about their personal lives, or gossiping about their co-workers. 2) Employees using their cell phones in the store and restroom (texting, taking pictures, talking, etc.) Isn't employees using a cell phone in the store against store policy? 3) Employees telling their personal lives to customers. (One employee told me about her diabetes. One talked about her kids at home. One felt compelled to tell me about her cheating boyfriend. I did not initiate these conversations and preferred to not hear about it. One told me about how frustrated and tired she was.) 4) Filthy products being stocked for sell. (Why are employees not cleaning off these products?) 5) Filthy restrooms. 6) The store is in constant disarray. 7) Regardless of how long the line is in customer service often there is only one person helping customers. If lines are long there should always be at least 2 people working in customer service. The excuse that someone is "on break or at lunch" is not justification to keep customers waiting. 8) The worst thing I have seen are customer service employees arguing with customers over a return when the customer has a receipt. This holds up the line. I have seen customer service employees talk to customers like dogs. Arguing with customers for 5 or 10 minutes and the customer has a receipt for the return. 9) The employees at these locations are extremely argumentative and if a customer ask them a question they become annoyed, impatient and angry, especially in customer service. 10) Employees using profanity (there was a time an employee would get fired for that). 11) Employees eating snacks and working at the same time. What will rectify this? Can Walmart change these problems? I prefer Walmart over Target because Walmart is cheaper, but at least Target is clean and usually the employees are not rude or obnoxious. Why can't Walmart be clean with professional employees?

Enjoy getting freebies from the store. :D

Should change their name to "Made in China Mart". They sell the lowest quality goods on the market. I do like to go inside just to cause trouble though.

ok, here's the deal! We all know WalMart is a mess most of the time in one way or another. But think back to no Walmart days! We went to small stores, who many times did not have what we needed and had to wait for whatever to get ordered and pay more and they wouldn't take stuff back to happily. I remember trying to exchange or get money back and it was hell, with a receipt. You gotta admit, you can take pretty much everything back to Walmart without any or much hassle. And with these gas prices, we need to go get it at one place as often as we can. And it must have been a good idea to have one stop shopping, because Target and Kmart got right on the band wagon! I bet if Dillard's, Penny's and Macy's could sell groceries and tires they would do it too! Anyone who wants to can run all over the place, but I'm gonna pull myself together, face the Walmart dragon and get it done! One stop!

It's a shame that the unions have organized against a law-abiding company and will stoop to the lowest levels to hurt a wonderful company that is stunningly successful due to hard work and intelligent management.I shop Wal-Mart weekly for groceries and any other items we need. My store is always clean, the cashiers are not gruff and mean and usually friendly and helpful. Most any item I shop for I find and always at a good price.Small stores cannot compete with Wal-Mart and many have closed as a result. The buggy makers did not survive Henry Ford's invention, either. Times change - quit sniveling! All the whining, false stories and other accusations made against this great company do not change the fact that millions of people spend billions of dollars world-wide at Wal-Mart because it really is a heck of a value!

I buy a few things at WallyWorld because I don't see the point in spending about 30% more at some other corporate outfit, but I liked the place better when they had the banners that said, "MADE IN AMERICA", and hadn't yet sold out the USA for temporary profits.I believe Sam Walton would be appalled at what's happened to his dream.

Prices are good. But never enough open registers, and won't even open the self checkout registers . A much better place to shop than to work
amgrodski 02/24/2009
I think at one radical stage in my life I would've chanted "don't shop at Wal-Mart" because the company supposedly cut back employees' hours so they don't have to supply benefits, but after seeing Penn & Teller's Bullshit episode a while back, I've changed my tune. Wal-Mart was one of the first companies to go in and invest in New Orleans after Katrina; they provide jobs to workers in areas where no other businesses will go; they sell crap from China....hey, who doesn't?When it comes to shopping there...thanks, but no thanks. Every Walmart I've been in has been an oversized town dump. I'll go to Target, which is a tip-toe above K-mart.This is a free-market economy, if you don't like the pay and the bennies, go get a job somewhere else!!!

The pharmacy in the Austin Norwood Park deserves a -5 (minus 5). These people boss you around when you are asking how or when they will find medicines that were supposed to be ready a day before, and tell you to "Step aside", "Stand in line" and "Escort her to the Drop off" (after you already stood in a long line and are coming back to see if they found what they said they already had over the phone). These commands are given to you without giving you time to open your mouth and say anything at all.
OrangeCharlie 12/05/2008
I shop there for their prices. I certainly do not shop there for the friendliness of the other customers. We are fortunate to have 2 excellent Walmart stores in my town that are well-stocked with great prices.
LadyJesusFan77 7 12/04/2008
I shop at WalMart because of the great bargains. But it has its drawbacks, just like any other store. I wonder how many people say they don't shop at WalMart and they really do?
James76255 11/29/2008
Despite popular belief there are quite a few American made products available at Wal Mart. The main exceptions are the same as the exceptions anywhere else, those being clothes, toys, televisions, and shoes. I have a couple of utility carts from Wal Mart, as well as a small filing cabinet, most of my kitchen accessories, some automotive stuff, and various other things. All of it made in the USA and none of it has fallen apart. I did have a computer chair from Wal Mart that came apart. I don't remember where it was made and I'm pretty sure it fell apart after my 400 pound co-worker came over and leaned all his weight on the arm.
For someone with my schedule, the Wal Mart grocery is a godsend. I can do my shopping at 1am and don't have to run around like a chicken with my head cut off trying to get it all done before work. A nice selection too.
I've known some people that worked at Wal Mart and from what I can tell the people that complain about being "treated like dog feces" are the people who are going to complain no matter where they work or what they do. I don't think anybody goes to work at Wal Mart thinking of it as a career plan, but it's a job and there is a paycheck involved.
When I can I prefer to shop local, but it's always nice to know there is a place that is likely to have what I need when I need it right then. I also notice that a lot of people... not everybody, but a lot of people... that complain about Wal Mart hurting small businesses are the same people that advocate government regulations and bills that make it difficult for small businesses to stay open. This makes Wal Mart that much more attractive and, at times, necessary for the consumer. Reminds me of a dog barking at his reflection.
HondaRider91 11/29/2008
They are taking over the business industry, causing hundreds if not thousands of small caring companies to go under, all at the expense of cheap Chinese labor. They treat their workers like dog feces. Only Wal Mart could sink this low.
Then again, wal mart has great things for lowest of low prices, and nothing I have bought there has ever broken so far, Irish (I know amazing). They also seem to have "everything" you need. Which is just plain weird...
irishgit 11/28/2008
I'd rather pay a little extra and see it go to the hard working independent merchants who have made my home a good place to live. It is worth the extra cash than giving a cent to these soulless gravy sucking swine.
Besides, most of the stuff they sell is cheap, badly made junk. Buy cheap, you usually wind up buying twice.
lix 11/14/2008
Face it, this is not supposed to be a high end store people. It's cheap for a reason. The staff is usually too busy putting crap away that the neanderthal shoppers toss about without care, pushing around in cramped isles with screaming kids and large crowds.. you don't go there for the shopping experience, but the cheap products. I'm not sure I'd be all thta happy working there dealing with angry, abrupt, rude mobs... God help the workers at Christmas.. people are animals lol
johnflip12 11/01/2008
I work for Walmart, and yes they are cutting cost in places they shouldn't so somebody higher up gets a big huge check. It drives me nuts, i hate it. Worse though is the customers that bitch about it though. I know I'm the only cashier, I don't need your angry looks and hateful words directed at me. If I could pull 50 cashiers out of my ass to get you people out of the store I would. Still there are those few who know that it is not the cashiers fault and are civil humans. Thank you god for those people. one last thing to the high horsed bitchy ones cause i know your out there.... your not always right. Not even 95% of the time. Usually you are horribly ignorant about the merchandise. The associates laugh about you after you get your way and storm off swearing that you'll never be back, only to be back in a few days later to grace us with your snotty attitude and more stupidity. Take pleasure in knowing that yes when it comes to the fact that Walmart SUCKS you are right, but some of you suck just as much. maybe more.... BE NICE

I found this site while researching customer service for a marketing class I am taking. I certainly had quite a few laughs while reading about all these peoples experiences. I Googled "Wal-Mart Customer Service" and only one site had anything good to say about it; www.consumeraffairs.com. It stated that for discount stores, Wal-Mart holds the number one spot for customer service. I just figured since everyone else was writing funny $#it on here, I should too. I myself prefer to shop at Target for my "one-stop" shopping, though Id rather support my local small and independant businesses.

Three attempts at fulfillment resulted in an order being cancelled, a site to store item not being found, and a 6 AM call to wake me up and make an insulting offer. NEVER, EVER, EVER do business with these lying thieves.
bullockdog 09/24/2008
This Wal-Mart on RT.22 gives you nothing but a horrible shopping experience. I have gone there many times at different hours. They never have enough checkouts open and the lines go on forever. I have complained to managers and heard others complain as well, but nothing is ever done. One night about 10:00 we went in to Walmart (mind you it was block Friday), there was a line going back towards the food aisle because there was only one register open. Then one of the managers came and told us we could go check out at the cigarette counter and got smart-mouthed with us because we were all complaining because we had carts full of groceries. My advice, just don't go near the re run if you must.

Walmart is the store I love to hate. Reasons I hate it are: I'm the one that has to usually ask an employee for help. Alot of the employees they do have (at least in my city) are usually very unprofessional and sometimes rude. Everytime I go TONS of other customers are in my way! Long lines! I usually spend more then I plan on spending when I go there (NEVER fails)!
On the other hand, I'll never stop going there. It's a "one-stop-shop" which makes it VERY convenient, groceries to electronics to oil changes. You name it. It's prices are usually the same or a lil less then the competition. I just can't give it a full 5 star rating because of the shotty service.

The Three Basic Beliefs; respect for the individual, service to our customers, and strive for excellence.
What a joke!
There is never any help to be found. They sacrifice customer service to make sure to make their profit goals. There will literally not be a single associate(employee) on the sales floor during parts of the year. Also there are always long lines because there are no cashiers and there are not any associates on the floor to call up to run a register. Dirty, because its not in the budget to hire enough maintance. Always out of what you want. The associates always look like they are unhappy. Why should they be? They are the ones who hear it from the customers about no help on the floor and the long lines at the register. They are under paid, this includes assistant managers who work way to many hours. Assistant managers may have it the worst. Management has very little to no training. They have a short training class on policies but they don't teach any people skills. The small amout of people skills training they do receive is being told stuff by the store manager like "if i'm not getting complaints about you (the assistant manager) from your associates, your not doing you job. I should know I worked for that s**thole for 10 years, 2 as an assistant manager. Don't get me started.

for the most part this is close to a four. We had a new one built closer to us and I thought this would be great.I have found myself being more disappointed than pleased. They do not do a very good job keeping their shelves stocked. It is very crowded and very noisy. Maybe it may be just the one I shop at but I have never seen more unattended obnoxious children running around than i do at this store. The parents are either nowhere to be seen or are totally oblivious to what their children are doing.Yes I have found some pretty good deals but I could say that about other stores too. As I said maybe the problems I have at our Wal-Mart are just this one.All I know if you want to go to a store and leave with a headache, go to this Wal-Mart and put up with their chaotic atmosphere, and buy some aspirin on the way out. I will admit there are some good deals. we like to get movies and some are decently priced, the dog food is a tad cheaper. If you can put up with the crowds. we prefer to go as early on Saturday as possible or forget it.
baredd79 03/22/2008
Wal-Mart has failed in all aspects of customer service that there is. Unfriendly, underpaid, understaffed, and unmotivated employees support the fact that this company has become an over blown parody of it's former self. Wal-Mart has had years to improve the quality of their relationship with the consumer, but yet we still wait in long lines at the three out of thirty five checkouts that are open with our cheap imported Chinese garbage, as we wonder why we're waiting in line there to begian with. Wal-Mart just simply doesn't honner customer service. Shame on you Wal-Mart!

Walmart isn't even that cheap on a lot of stuff. They take advantage of their reputation for low prices and you can find a lot of stuff there cheaper at say Costco or Target. Besides that it's always really crowded and packed with poor people. Teachers shop there too, so beware if you're a student.

The Wal-Mart in Montrose, CO is the worst of the worst. Many items not priced. Items displayed for order only have no signs stating for order only. At 6:15 a.m., this morning, 3/1/08, I went to the deli to purchase deli meats and cheese for office employees. Woman behind the counter totally ignored me. She then went to the back. As I was leaving another woman employee came from the front of the store and asked if I needed help. Yes. She then went behind the counter and told me she would get someone. She looked at her watch and stated they did not open till 7. Where's the sign saying so? There is no sign. Less than a year ago I went to the same store to purchase a lap top. I selected the one I wanted and after 20 minutes, found a clerk. the clerk informed me I had to order it. "Where's the sign????" There was no sign stating it had to be ordered. I went to Office Depot and purchased a $1400 lap top. Will never set foot in another Wal-Mart, especially here in Colorado.
alfamaser 02/18/2008
As an interesting observation I notice the Pro Wal Mart people are always looking at thier own needs.........low income.............single with children...surely a situation of self focus and selfishness, and understandably so. And then wonder as they shop, to petpuate thier own situation by shopping there. And the Anti Wal Mart are usualy looking at a bigger picture of how this is effecting society itself, focusing on others.
eyebrowqueen23 02/17/2008
I don't see how Wal-Mart is any worse than Target or Meijer regarding how they treat their employees. When my husband was a teen he worked at these places and they all treated you like crap equally. A co-worker of mine said the same thing. Plus ALL of the stores have items mostly made in China. Don't believe me, go to their toy sections!
I admit some of their items are not as good quality but I only buy select things from Wal-Mart and am able to save a considerable amount of money. Plus they have a little of everything so if I don't know where to get something I go there, knowing pretty much they will have it.
My big beef is that after 10 pm they will close one set of doors so you can only go in and out one side...then they put their U-Scans at the opposite side! Grr!!
Jentra26 02/13/2008
I do all my food shopping at walmart i get alot for the money. I know walmart has a bad rep, but if i'm going to feed my family on my buget i need a place where i'm not paying an arm in a leg. The only thing i do not buy is hamburg at walmart. i buy it sams.
Twitchin' Monkey 02/08/2008
what's the purpose in putting in 50 check out counters if you never open more than 5 at one time?
Battery848 02/03/2008
I like the prices and expect to get junk made in China but what I really hate is when you figure out where everything is they change it. Whomever thought of that marketing idea is a real fool. I try to go to the stores whom do not do it that often. Walmart does not realize how much that irritates shoppers. The reason is most people go in for only a few item and will not pick up somthing else now adays because of budgeted incomes.
Courtneykaxlip 01/07/2008
Please don't buy from these corporate-monster-greedhogs. They underpay their employees and undercut the poor, mom&pop shops around town trying to make an honest living. You might be getting good prices, but at what cost? (pardon the pun)
X Factor Z 12/27/2007
Oh despite there many flaws the still have a huge selection of merchandise at the best prices, and is the only such retailer in many smaller communities. Mom & Pop shops had little variety and high prices, and should adapt and specialize in merchandize not seen in WalMart- (ie, become tourist traps!)
pissedoff96 12/27/2007
Do I have to give this chain of stoors a star? They do not deserve it. People working there have an IQ of 50 collectively. Horrible service. They cheat, on prices, volume, exporation date. They think if you do not notice they can get away with it, and if you do notice, they blame you. I will never shop at woolyworld again. I am sure there are a lot of other stores that would apresiate my hard earned money.

This rating concerns Walmart.com. Once again Im stuck in their never never land of telephone system. My first experience was with their pharmacy, I could not reach anybody for two months, no e-mails or telephone calls. I thought the problem was because of the part-D insurance rush. This time I just placed an order over the internet, received a confirmation, then an e-mail telling me the item is out of stock, will try to ship if item received within ten days if not the item will be cancelled. Try and reach them to cancell the order-good luck i was on the phone 1/2 hour and then got cut off. good luck if you use them!!!!!!!!

OK HERE IS MY REVIEW OF WALMART. I HAVE BEEN SHOPPING THERE SINCE THEY OPENED UP THE STORE IN MY AREA ABOUT 4 YEARS NOW. AND I HAVE WATCHED THE SERVICE AND QUALITY OF THE ITEMS GO WAY DOWN HILL. I FOUND A SET OF GLASSES THAT LOOKED NICE SO I BOUGHT THEM FOUND OUT I NEEDED ANOTHER SET WALMART WAS OUT OF THEM SO I WENT TO TARGET AND FOUND THE SAME SET. I COMPARED THE 2 SETS. THE ONE I BOUGHT FROM WALMART WHERE FACTORY SECONDS. YOU COULD SEE THE SEEM FROM WHERE THE GLASSES WERE MOLDED TOGETHER AND THE GLASS SEEMED TO BE THINNER THEN THE ONES I PAYED A COUPLE DOLLARS MORE FOR AT TARGET. THE ONES I BOUGHT FROM TARGET HAD NO SEEM AND WERE THICKER GLASS NOT FACTORY SECONDS. TODAY ALL BUT 2 OF THE WALMART GLASSES HAVE BROKE AND ALL THE ONES FROM TARGET ARE STILL IN GOOD SHAPE. THAT WAS THE FIRST ITEM. THE SECOND ITEMS WERE CLOTHES. I THOUGHT I WOULD SAVE SOME MONEY AND BUY MY KIDS SCHOOL CLOTHES FROM WALMART. AFTER ABOUT 3 MONTHS OF WASHING AND WEARING THE CLOTHES FELL APART. ALL THE CLOTHES AND SHOES ARE OF VERY POOR QUALITY. MY WIFE RUNS A VERY LARGE SEWING LINE FOR A COMPANY THAT DOES ALOT OF NIKE, HELLY HANSEN, MARMOT, AND OTHER BIG NAMED BRANDS AS WELL AS ALL THE NIKE STUFF FOR THE NBA, NFL, NCAA SPORTS TEAMS. SO SHE KNOWS ABOUT QUALITY WHEN IT COMES TO CLOTHES AND THEY DEFINETLY DO NOT HAVE ANY KIND OF QUALITY FOR CLOTHES. JUST CHEEP THIN STUFF. THIRD ITEM WAS AN AIRSOFT BB GUN MY SON SAVED UP HIS B-DAY MONEY TO GO GET ONE.RIGHT OFF THE SHELF IT WOULDN'T WORK TOOK IT BACK SAME THING 3 GUNS LATER I TOOK HIM TO A DIFFERENT STORE AND FOUND ONE RIGHT AWAY THAT WORKED. FORTH ITEMS SEVERAL DVD'S I'VE BOUGHTEN HAVE HAD TO BE TAKEN BACK BECAUSE OF POOR QUALITY IN THE RECORDINGS. I JUST BOUGHT TRANSFORMERS THE MOVIE AND I AM ON THE SECOND ONE THAT THE AUDIO RECORDING FORMAT IS ALL MESSED UP. THE ONLY THING I AM RESORTED TO BUYING AT WALMART IS NOW LAWN FERTILIZER. THE REST OF MY SHOPPING IS AT TARGET AND REAL FOOD STORES. (GOT TIRED OF GETTING OLD OUTDATED ROTTEN FOOD). WALMART HAS BULLIED THERE OUTSORCE COMPANIES TO SELL THEM GOOD PRODUCTS SO LOW THAT THEY CANT SURVIVE SELLING THERE PRODUCTS SO LOW THAT THEY ARE SELLING WALMART THERE FACTORY SECONDS AND BLEMS. JUST LOOK AT WHAT WALMART DID TO RUBBERMAID THEY PUSHED THEM INTO GOING OUT OF BUSINESS THEN BOUGHT THEM OUT TO KEEP THERE PRODUCTS IN THERE STORES. MY OPINION IS TO SHOP ELSEWHERE AND ALOT OF OTHER PEOPLE ARE DOING THE SAME. WALMART PROFITS HAVE DROPPED SIGNIFICANTLY IN THE PAST 2 YEARS TO ALMOST A SERIOUS LOSS IF WE ALL DO THE SAME THE SUPER GIANT WILL GO AWAY. AND WE WILL HAVE GOOD QUALITY AMERICAN MADE PRODUCTS BACK IN THE STORES SO THAT THEY DON'T HAVE TO COMPETE WITH WALMART ANYMORE. THERE WAS AN OLD SAYING K-MART FALL APART BUT I THINK THAT HAS CHANGED TO WALMART FALL APART.
Jamie McBain 09/17/2007

hello my name is Jessica Nicholson, I recently went to the walmart in saratoga shopping I went to the service to ask for a remote cart because I just had two back surgerys, when I asked one one of the managers said to me theres 20 of them if you can find one you can use it,not helping me at all. I was so disappoited. I was standing there with a cain and leaning on a shopping cart for sapport. So I went to another manager and asked again and he said if you dont see than I guess we dont have any. Thats rude what happens to these peaple that can never shop without one. Im so disappointed I shop here weekly and I think its time to shop somewhere were you get better respect. I never got all my shopping done but when I got to the register your employee, dee helped me with food and said sorry we could not help with a cart. That was the only nice exsperience I had there thank you dee. Jessica Nicholson

Let me begin by saying that I am not involved in the retail industry and that my opinions are based on both my education and experience as an educator. The Cold Hard Truth--Walmart is only as good as the neighborhood it is located in. Think about it, its true. Who does Walmart hire? People who apply...Who applies to work at Walmart? People who live in close proximity to the store. Who shops at Walmart...people who live near the store...why? convenience. Lets compare two Walmart stores close to me (my town does not have one so we must drive 20 miles to either of these 2 stores) one in a more affluent neighborhood and one in a....well the slums.....Affluent Walmart--moderate lines, moderate customer service, moderately clean. Not-so-affluent Walmart--long lines, unfriendly customer service and dirty. Why? I think customer base has a large part to do with this. The cleaner that customers keep a store, the less frustration that employees will feel thus more likely to provide me with quality assistance when I need it. It is the whole treat others as you would like to be treated idea. The fact of the matter is that these 2 stores carry the exact same merchandise. Same quality...same product! We as customers do make some of the difference. I have seen behavior from both children and adults that is deplorable and would not be tolerated in any school in America. Why is it that people think they lose all self-respect when they walk through the sliding doors of a Walmart. Is it appropriate for a 2 year old to pitch a fit when she doesn't get her way? No, then why is it appropriate for her mother to yell at a cashier when she has had to wait 15 minutes in a line that the cashier has no control over? Is it appropriate for a father to dwaddle in the electronics department while his pre-teen children play basketball in the sporting goods department? I hate Walmart, not because of the big bulky pallets of merchandise that are in my way as I shop or because of the question I have to answer as I check out "Did your cashier greet you today?" I detest shopping at Walmart because it embodies the wretchedness that our society has become....Capitalism and entertainment! I rate this store a 3....because I will probably shop there again....as I too am trapped in our indecent society!
Debradell 06/06/2007
I love Wal-mart! I don't have a lot of money, and I'm kind of a night owl. So, when I can buy something the same for a lot cheaper then I go for it. It's a benefit that I can go at 3am if I want to, as well. I've worked for Sam's Club for 10 years, so I understand the hatred of company rules, but so what if you don't work there. What do you care? So, they are bitchy to you when you check out. I know it's annoying, but there are the self checkouts now. I find that to be quite wonderful. Try it out sometime, if you feel the need to get quality merchandise for a cheaper price. Hey, just an idea.
