Over the Range style. Keypad started shorting out after 1 1/2 years. Door handle starting to crack. Would have cost almost as much as buying a new microwave to get fixed.

Not good quality for the price: On 05/07/2004 I installed JVM1490BH microwave ($650 +$45 shipping + $180 installation). About one year ago I saw first crack on the microwave control panel. Now there are a lot of cracks on control panel (both outside and inside), and on microwave door. I think this has happened because GE used non microwave-save plastics for this appliance. An estimate for installation of new door and control panel is $250.

Our oven broke after 6 months of ownership. We have a one year warranty and GE gave us the big run around. First they told use they'd repair it, then they told us the part was not available. Then, they told use we'd have to wait another 24 hours before they would decide if they would replace it. Now I am waiting on terminal hold to give them the information they need to send me a replacement. Who knows how long it will take to get that!

I have a new GE Profile Spacemaker model 1660 with the Sensor Cook feature. It reheats or cooks while automatically determining the length of time needed. I can put in a couple slices of pizza, push ONE button, and the microware will beep when it's done. No more testing the food and having to put it back multiple times. I really like this microwave.

Recently moved to a place with one of these already installed. It looks great and has tons of functions, but I'm finding more imbalanced cooking (need to keep roating the plate) than I have with other microwaves I've used.
