"Quiet" guard? the noisiest thing ever - was put by owner as part of the remodelling in the house I bought, I'll keep it until it breaks, but it's ridicously noisy (much noisier than the one I had in a rental apt), sometimes it doesn't rinse well objects in the top, and space design is a little odd. Haven't experienced a break down yet, but the design leaves a lot to desire. My old machine allowed me to put many more items in it. This one has a strange tong spacing problem so that glasses fall into each other and crack. You wind up spacing things extra far which means you run the machine half-full. You'd think tech advances would allow better design, but that's not the case. Oddly, many of my friends are experiencing the same types of problems with Kenmore and other brands, too. Some have gone lo-tech: wash as you go, let em dry in the side sink. If this one breaks soon, I'll do the same.

Worked well for a couple years then my control panel shorted out... A planned obsolescence part for Kenmore. Must be a timer on these to make them blow up just past my warranty. Nuts.

kenmore means sears contracts with someone else to make a cheap product that will not compete with their own lines and allow sears to sell competitively and still make a profit. Our dishwasher started malfunctioning just before the warranty expired and their lame-ass support/repair people were 'helping' me on the phone as it expired. When they ascertained it was a control panel likely and would be $150 to repair - lo and behold I had just crossed the out of warranty boundary....My experience with Insinkerator was the exact opposite: helpful free advice and free parts to repair things OUT of warranty....and they make their stuff in the US...

After 1.5 yrs, dishwasher is being replaced due to control panel gone haywire and thermostat broken. It will be just about as cheap to replace as repair so goodbye Kenmore. Never again. I will go with the Frigidaire Gallery like the rest of my kitchen.

Kenmore means Sears, Sears means Extended Warranty contracts for something they advertise as a well built product. Those contracts are a huge rip-off for consumers and a huge money-maker for the company. Been there! Replaced that!
