I have a Kenmore Elite side by side we purchased in Oct. 03. Three weeks ago the compressor died. This $2,000 refrigerator is less than six years old and I was told at best it would cost $750 to repair (and that was not Sear's quote which they could not give me over the phone but would be happy to quote me if I paid $70 for a technician to tell me what I already know). Buyers beware if you choose to buy this refrigerator make sure you buy an extended warranty. Kenmore had a five year warranty on the compressor and ours conveniently died months after the warranty expired. Additionally, our Kenmore Elite Washing machine is even younger and for the last two years I have had to manually turn the basket to get it to spin during the spin cycle. Both appliances were purchased at Sears. I now have no faith in Kenmore or Sears.Worst yet, we haven't bought a fridge yet because it seems NO refrigerator out there is worth buying.

Sears is a lousy company. I bought Kenmore Elite Refrigerator and have replaced air diffuser twice and it is again giving me problem. I paid more than $1600 for this product and have never been happy with it. Never buy anything from Sears.

the plastic is crap. If this was a childs toy it would be considered very dangerous. If you are considering buying this, just by for the looks cause if you actually use it for like storing food. you will go krazy. I think the inside is made of eggshell.

This low rating is for service not the appliance itself. Our fridge is still under warrenty. Last month it quit working. It took THREE WEEKS for a Sears repairman to come and look at it. He DIDN'T HAVE THE PART! He ordered the part and had it sent to our address and said to call him when it arrived. It arrived today, a week later. Now it will be another week before he returns to install the part! By the time repairs hopefully have been made we will have been without a refridgerator for FIVE WEEKS! No wonder Sears is about to go belly up.

I have been a Kenmore owner for over 34 years. I once owned a '71 avocado two-door top freezer that had to be manually defrosted, and that was such a watery mess! Their icemakers were iffy in the mid-to-late 1970s. When we moved to our present home, I purchased their Elite Side-by-Side. My only complaint is that my freezer side is too cramped and I have difficulty fitting in all of my frozen groceries. Several pizza brands are too wide to fit (Red Baron). Kenmores have a solid reputation, but I need more freezer space. Susie from Texas

Ice maker does not function properly and we heard from the service people that it will continue to have the same problem. Ice gets stuck in flip door and will break more often as time progresses. Additionally, they had to replace the mother board, electronices, just 2 months after we purchased the product. We decided to have the entire product replaced and had one delivered in late Oct of '02!!!!

Only had mine about 18 months. So far no problems except a terrible chemical taste in the water from the dispenser. If not for that, I probably would've rated it higher.
