The Dodge Grand Caravan is a pretty good Vehicle except that they have been known to have Transmission Problems, I have yet to have a Transmission Problem with mines I have a 1996 Dodge Grand Caravan that I have had almost a year and I purchased it from a mechanic who sells used cars, if you are going to buy a used vehicle I reccomend that you buy one from a mechanic because he's very knowledgable about the vehicles that he sells because more than likely he worked on it, mechanics usually sell vehicles off of their lots because people don't pay the repair bill and after 60 days he can legally sell it, I know some people who couldn't even pay for a $100.00 car repair bill, and the mechanic sold their car after 60 days but some mechanics will give you up to 90 days before they sell your vehicle , so now when I buy a used car I try to buy it from a mechanic because he knows the history of the car because he's the one who did a previous repair on the car and he can tell you what else it's going to need sooner or later.Take care and God blessCarl

Chyrsler T/C van 3.8L. Engine is fine, but the brakes, emissions, alternator, transmission all have had issues. 2001 with 81,000 miles. It gets 23mpg at 65mph. Not bad.
I Will buy a toyota next time---period.

I'm on my 3rd Caravan, I've had a 1990, a 1999 and now a 2002 Grand Caravan and have had no problems with any of them. I've test-driven others before each purchase but keep coming back to the Caravan for price, safety and reliability. From a safety aspect the Caravan gives me more elbow room, we sit further away from the side windows and the doors feel much heavier and solid than the lighter doors on the Montana/Venture.

The Grand Caravan is one of the better minivans out there. In fact, all but a few minivans are worth the buy, which is extremely rare. Although older than the new Quest and Sienna, this van has the highest proven reliablity record, which is a big plus. And it still has enough amentities to make a minivan a buy.

just bought a 2005 Grand Caravan with the sto-and-go seats. I have owned the Sienna, 2001 and a Honda Odessey, 1999, and this Dodge beats them hands down for quality. This is the best yet.

Hello! I want to organize a class action lawsuit about the tranny problems with the Chysler Minivans! my parents have had alot fo problems with them. they have a '96 caravan and a 98 voyager and the caravan had this problem several times! and we just bought a 98 voyager off a dealer (I forget how many miles but I dont think that much) and the tranny gave up. These trannys are defective and Chrylser went downhill since Iococa left!!! their service is bad!!! they dont car about anyone!!! I hope that you join me!!!! thanks and please reply to the owners at dorothykowalsky@msn.com thanks alot!!!! Yours Sincerely, Liz Kowalsky Parents Not so proud owners of two chrysler minivans

I have a 1993 Caravan (not a "Grand," but they share a drivetrain and brake system...), with the 3.3 liter engine and the A-604 electronic ultradrive transmission, and an ABS system. WHAT A PIECE OF JUNK! I am on my FIFTH transmission, and my SECOND ABS system. When the ABS system failed (two weeks after the dealership told me it was "in perfect shape"), it almost dumped my wife, my son and myself out onto a bust road. The tranny was so bad that it would fail to engage in DRIVE, REVERSE, and PARK! Either that, or it would stall the engine out whenever I came to a stop sign. As of 1998, Chrysler had still not fixed the tranny problem, as a friend of mine who had an Intrepid (same engine/tranny) was having the exact same problems. DO NOT BUY ANY CHRYSLER VEHICLE WITH A 3.3 LITER ENGINE! THEY HAVE RELABELED THE A-604 TRANNY TO SOME OTHER NAME. BE WARNED! --Steve

Purchased our Grand Cravan a year ago, and it drives very smoothly. We shoped around and could not find another minivan that drove as well with all the features we were looking for. Built in child seat are real handy! Long Trips to cottage country are very comfortable, and with all the storage room no need to leave any extras behind. Also fits a 4x8 sheet of plywood nicely.

Can't go wrong with this industry standard! Great for me wife and three kids and plenty of luggage, easy enough to maneuver in town and comfortable enough for long hauls to Disneyland.

I have owned the 1999 Grand Caravan for 9 months and have found it to be very good. I am taking it in for service and have only one door that needs to be adjusted, the first thing I have found wrong since I bought it.
