Volvo V70 4

Have had no problems with my wife's 1999 V70. It's bright red with a tan leather interior. It has the non turbo engine. In other words, it's reliable, handsome and slow.

Volvo V70 3

When I was 16 I let a friend drive my red convertible & she let me drive her Volvo wagon for a few days, and it's been my "dream car" ever since. To some people the ultimate "I made it" car is a Caddy, but to me it was a Volvo V70. (I must've "built" hundreds of V70's online just wishing I could actually get the real thing.) Only the cars I built on the Volvo website weren't in service more than they were in my garage. It's a lovely car. One of the most comfortable cars I've ever driven. The interior is so well thought out and convenient. Underneath the hood, however, it must be a mess, because in the 6 months I've had it it's been in service 5 times! If it was reliable, it would be the perfect car. The fuel economy is great for a car that seats 7, but if it doesn't run half of the time, the fuel economy becomes a bit irrelevant, does it not?

Volvo V70 2

I have a 2001 V-70 2.4T. This is the first time that I have spent a lot of money on the purchase of a car. This car has been in for maintenance more than any Japanese car that I have had. I can not leave the service department without spending less than $800.00. I am now trading in my Volvo for a car that allows me to spend my time driving the car rather than servicing it.

I have a 1999 V70. I am SOOOOO disappointed in this car. I have never spent this much(about 30k) on a car before but thought that it was a higher end car and the extra money would make pay off in the long run. I have averaged a trip to the dealer every 7 weeks for warrantly work in the past 1.5 years. Examples include door lock broke, heated seat didn't heat, wiring harness for light went bad, lights burning out prematurely, etc. I think that very cheap parts have been used. I called my dealer because I wanted to speak with the Volvo representative and was told that would do no good. Basically "tough luck". I will not recommend this car to anyone. BTW my 1994 Toyota Camry has had ZERO visits for warranty work.

Volvo V70 3

I own a 98 V70 with 40,000 miles. Here are my impression of the car. Positives: - Tank like feel (very solid), - Good fuel economy, - Very practical (especially with a Thule like box on top), - Absolutely rattle free (even the station wagon). Negatives - Tank like feel (drives like one. Mine is non-turbo), - Front wheels are ALWAYS dirty from dust coming from the brake pads, - Reliability is not what I expected from a Volvo. On top of some irritating visits to the dealer on a more than regular basis, I just learned this morning (reason I am writing this review) that I have to change all 4 disks and brake pads. I am a pretty tame driver. I go for fuel economy over performance and this shows in a very laid back driving style. To have to make the above change to me does not bode well for the long term. In summary, though I like the car and the way it drives, the annoying trips to the dealership, and the accompanied hastle and cost will soon have reason of me. I don't think I will buy another Volvo in the future. I will probably go for a sturdier means a transportation (ie. a truck or SUV). Truck like chassis, brakes and everything. Suddenly, my $3,000 on my GM card are starting to look very interesting...
