One of the few stores that carries individual electronic parts. I don't buy many of their retail products like stereos, etc. But the CD player and cassette tape player I bought over twenty years ago are still working. Not so with the computer monitor but it lasted as long as any other brand I've owned.

I just experienced the worst customer service ever at RadioShack in Canton, GA. Basically, they told me they did not have what I was looking for, i purchased something else close. As I was leaving, I saw in the corner exactly what I was looking for. I asked to return what I just purchased an purchase the item I desired. The manager became flustered, started yelling and cussing at me (completely unprovoked). I mean this kid was dropping the F-BOMB. I asked to speak with the district manager and got the toll free number instead. I got my money back and left, never to return to any RadioShack again. BTW, they lost a pretty good sized sale today. It is clear that this sales system is stressed, to the breaking point. Wake up RS management, your ship is sinking.

For all you people bashing Radio Shack, do some freaking research. Everything they have to offer I found to be cheap and useful, and trust me I looked elsewhere first. Every other store I went to was way to expensive and had crummy equipment. I for one work for Radio Shack and am proud to be an Employee.

I used to work in a radioshack and quit faster than I could answer any questions....that job was so lame. I still regard it 10 yrs later as my worst job ever not to mention the geezer of a manager I had trying to steal my sales just b/c I was new and it was a slow turtle store. Treating employees like slaves with minimum wage you work just to buy your lunch hopefully you can buy a happy meal and not to mention horrible ancient inventory methods where you had to handcount every damn battery. We also were not able to watch the Tv as the manager didn't like that. I was about to go mental so I quit!!

I got a radio shack brand infrared wireless headphone (#33-1025)for a present. The range was so bad that I could not move more than a few feet before it would make a loud hissing sound. After having it for a couple of weeks I gently bumped (and I mean gently) the transmitter where the plug to the wire which connects to the source plugs in and it just completely quit working. When my wife tried to return it to the store, they told her that she could only get store credit since she didn't have her receipt, even though they tracked her purchase by her credit card. She opted to get a replacement instead, but I really didn't want it so I tried to take it back. When I agreed to take store credit, they gave me $29.99 for them which is $10 less than the price listed on the internet which my wife paid. When she found out, she went and tried to get the rest of what she paid. The associate at the store at the time told her that he didn't know how to ring the transaction, so she got the headphones back. She's going to try to get store credit for what she paid when she can get back there and see a manager. This is not the first time I've had serious problems with radio shack brand or with their associates, but I hope it will be the last.

As a radioshack employee, i can tell you, yes, radioshack does rip you off, but asks yourself, who doesn't? In the real world and perfect world, we would tell you every little detail that would make you not wanna buy the product or the warranty, but it's not a perfect world. And i as an employee get paid on commission. It does not mean i will lie to you, it means i won't answer every little "stupid" question you have about a "5amp 250v" fuse. I work there for one reason only. To make money. And i make it. To those posting complaining that they make $6-9 hourly. Because you choose to. I make $13+ an hour. How? Very simple. OFFER! I use to be an ass with customers, because they frustated me with how stupid their questions were. Most customers treat us like shit, so how can we be so kind when we get treated like pure crap? I recently transferred stores after been fired from my store. Best that could have ever happened to me. I am now making even more money. How? Bigger store. More traffic. And, i'm changed. I no longer choose to argue with fuck heads. I kill them with kindness. I help people out. I don't do it for the money anymore. And they see that, so what do they do? They trust me, and buy the product. And they are making the right decision, because i really am been honest to them and i really do wanna help people and even though i may be one of the very few radioshack employees who who do this, i still wanna make change, even if it's a very small change. All i been reading is how we employees are the devil. Well i don't doubt you guys. Radioshack has 90% of employees like that because of the pay and because they don't train you. I learned as i went. Didn't know anything. Now i'm very knowledgeable about mostly everything. And about lying? Yes some employees lie. Because they like wasting their time. I don't lie. If it's one thing i hate the most. That's a return and wasting my time. So if i'm gonna bullshit a customer. I better prepare myself for an argument and of course, losing my commission. For those who say i don't shop at radioshack or will never go into a radioshack, let me tell you. Not every radioshack is the same. There are many, so look around. You will find one that has an employee like me who likes helping people and treats them like human beings. Once you find such an employee. Keep going back to him/her, we appreciate customers who come back to us and we then consider you more like a friend. If you start talking to an employee and he talks kinda rude or not looking like he wants to help. Walk away, ask someone else. First impression is big, do judge a book by its cover. And one more thing, if you're commiting to get into a 2 year contract with aTT or sprint. Choose an employee who knows WTF he is doing. You don't want a BUBBA helping you out. He/Her will make mistakes and fuck you over. Shop at Radioshack. Bottom line.

Damn employeekuan, could you go more indepth than this? That was a review and a half! Glad to see you made some changes in your way of talking to customers and loved the descriptive and honest outlook on what you and the customers have as a connection. Far as I'm concerned, Radio Shack may have higher prices but they seem expert. Oh, by the way, I might have been one of those annoying customers on more than one ocassion. I'm not skilled with electronics. That's why I go to this particular store. I do it just the way you suggest too. If an employee is rude with me, I move on to another who has more of a desire to help. The products are some of the best and you're right. Once you find someone willing to be helpfull, stick with them. It's worth it for the sheer knowledge. One more thing... it's not just this store I can find rude staff. Many places I go, there are people who I can listen to for less than a minute to find out they really don't like what they do for a living. I feel sorry for them. Maybe we should have a job trading bank people can use sort of like a bartering system so people could find jobs they can be happy with. This would make life so much more enjoyable for both employees and customers. :)

I was given wrong technical advice and sold a product that I did not need from Radio Shack. I returned it in perfect condition beyond the 30 day limit and told that I could only get store credit. It is easy to forget about or lose such a credit; meanwhile Radio Shack is accruing the interest on my money, which I spent based on their faulty advice.

"You've got questions, we've got answers!" What a lie. They can barely tell you where the fuses are anymore. These stores are useless, unless you know what you are looking for and can explain it to the sales clerk in 5th grade language.

I bought a Compaq Notebook. I filled out the rebate form and sent it in. I got an e-mail "we received your rebate application." Three weeks later I get a postcard that they need the UPC code. I call them and am told the only place I can get that is from the box. I threw the box out. The product was scanned in at the store, I believe the bar code appears on the receipt I mailed to them. I mailed them plenty of information. They won't take the serial number on the computer. Tough luck I am out of $60.00. I have a feeling if it wasn't one thing it would be another. I wonder how many rebate applications are rejected?

Bought the on-site service plan when I bought my 37" flat-panel TV. What they didn't tell me then was that 1) you'll get a REFURBISHED replacement if it can't be fixed, and 2) they may not anyone in your area to perform the repair (which is my case). My TV "died" a month ago and I still haven't received the replacement. The lame excuse for the insurance carrier was that they'd called and left a message to verify my ship-to address. So now I have to wait until 3 t 5 business days.

I purchased a Sprint Phone and service and only planned to try out the first 10 days and then cancel so that I didn't get billed another 2 years. I payed the deposit and first month and the service was turned on and I bought a phone. What happens? I come back 9 days later to cancel and I spent maybe 30 minutes there in the store. I was assured by the sales associate (same one who sold it to me) that I'd receive a complete refund by mail, my deposit that is, and then there would be no more billing. What happens? I get a nice bill in the mail and then I was forced to commit... Why? Pretty sure the sales associate was pulling my leg and didn't want to take the hit on his commission. Been getting billed since then.... Last time I ever walked into a RadioShack. Their image is no longer what it used to be, to me.

I haven't bought anything from RadioShack in many years except a very low-priced keyboard for my p.c. They were quite a good store 25 or 30 years ago when my Dad used to buy their brand of stereo equipment, phones, radio equipment etc. They used to sell good quality electronics, but not anymore. People want more selection and better prices these days than RS can possibly offer. I gave up on them about 18 yrs ago when their $60 clock radio failed after 3 months of use and they would not stand behind their product. They only care about selling you the extended warranties !

I went to your store in Grapevine Texas. (Grapevine Mills Mall) I went in to find a usb adapter for my GPS unit. I handed it to the employee by the name of Trey. He then dropped it on the floor!!! His statement was "it will be okay, you can't get a signal in here anyway since we have a copper roof here." He did not find a adapter for my GPS, but then tried to sell me a card reader! I told him I didn't need one, I have one already. My husband and I left the mall at that point. I took my GPS out of my purse, connected it to the window/dash, plugged in the DC adapter, turned it on and it was on a screen showing the location of the mall....the words "Grapevine Mills" (Street/Lane/Road), which of course is where he dropped it!!! I thought that while driving it would change but it didn't. I turned it off to reset it. I left it off for 5-10 minutes several times while taking my 45 minute drive home and it still was stuck on that screen!!! I took the SD card out hoping that would help, it didn't. When we got home, I called the store back and spoke with the employee Trey. He told me that he was sorry he dropped it, but that I needed to call the manufacturer of the GPS for assistance since this was not a brand that Radio Shack carries and that he could not assist me. He made it seem that it was my fault!!! I advised him that I was not the one that dropped it and it had never been dropped and was working perfectly before I even entered the store!!! I just wanted the adapter so I could download the updated maps. He then said he could not help me and hung up. Seriously furious at this point, I called the Radio Shack Customer Service number 800-843-7422 and was told by that person that they could not help me and that I would have to call again tomorrow due to them being in Florida and that they could not assist me since they only handle web problems and this was very unfortunate and he knows that Radio Shack would make this right and replace my GPS. And, this was "customer service" not being able to help??? Anyway, I then called my local store here in Mansfield. (This is the store I normally go to and trust) I spoke with Aaron, the manager, and explained what had happened. He couldn't believe how I have been treated and gave me the phone number to a District Manager named Ken Bowers and a Tina Gustin at 972-399-8700. He also advised that Risk Management should be notified so this can be taken care of as soon as possible. Since this happened after business hours Thursday January 3, 2008, no one could do anything. I am very upset because this salesperson at your store basically blew me off and broke my GPS. HE DROPPED AND BROKE MY GPS, I didn't do it, he did and he is refusing to take any responsibility!!!

Purchased a GPS system at $110 off in their sale flyer over the phone. Was told that I would initially be billed $249 plus tax and once it shipped the $110 would be credited back to my card. In the last 30 days I have made 5 phone calls & spent over an hour trying to get the credit & the SUPERVISOR says "sorry, it was an in-store only promotion" even though (I still have) the ad stating that it is also available online & by phone. The current sale price is $149, but still are charging me $249. NEVER again will I buy from Raodio Shack - NEVER.

As a manager for radioshack, I am not shamed to say that this company is going through a trip in hell. Not to mention the fact that the pay scale is horrible for the employees, the pay for store managers are even worse. I kept on thinking sometimes that why am I working so far, putting over 60 hours a week at a store that only pays me little bit over poverty line (with no over time pay)? I find it really tough to manage a store volume store comparing to a big volume store, because they can afford hire people..... I often find myself losing my mind staying at the store due to lack of enough and focus, the reason? Because we are just too TIRED for this crap. The company recently just went through a manager change, taking out almost all the senior managers who were getting tenure pay (to cut down the cost). This includes my former manager. It is really unfair for us to work over 60 hours a week, I spent more time in the store then at home!!!!
The new pay scale for associates is just a joke. Newly promoted assistant managers are getting paid only 1 dollar and change more an hour. And they have the extra responsibilities.
This company also has the worst buyers out of all retail. Lack of focus on which product they want to carry is the main problem. Newly launched gaming category is just way too late when xbox 360 came out 2 years ago. Low margin items such as tvs, cameras are making it even harder to make them profitable. With all the accessories you sell, how many you can really push? on average, a customer may take 2 or 3? maybe the warrenty? If Radioshack is trying to compete with bestbuy or CC, they just simply do not have the space in the store to make an impact on the cusomters, it really requires the asscoiates to sell.
No wonder the company is doing bad, i know the economy is not so great , but Radioshack is doing even worse. These are just the few points.

Ok, Are you ready for this? The reason I am looking up things like "radioshack sucks" LOL is the fact I fell into the idea of making money. The newest pay system SUCKS! For the last 3 months I held on to a job making $6.67 an hour. (Min Wage BTW) becouse my manager told me that black friday was the day to "make money". In the last 6 weeks I had to travel over 150 miles total to a sales meeting with out district manager. (BTW thats on the clock and eating into your sales per hour for the week) After being told over and over that making 10-16 an hour was possible during the week. Well you get the idea. Black friday comes. What fun it is to tell 150+ people the $99 zune we sold out of in 4 min of opening the door is gone. (we had TWO of them) So the day keeps going. Working from 5 in the morning to 8 at night is fun btw. Only to look at the numbers to see I sold more than anyone else at our store. And not only did I sell almost 7k worth of stuff. My profit margin is almost double anyone else. And what does all this kicking ass and taking names earn me when I do the math. Not even 9.50 an hour! for the week I sold 9k worth of radio shack in one store all by myself. Only to get told when I asked why I am getting screwed "you didn't sell any cell phones". Hard to sell a phone when you sell everything and anything in one store

My advice. Work at a radio shack for 3 months. Get trained and go some place else

Don't ever try to buy anything from Radio Shack online from Black Fridays sales papers. They advertised one thing but they put it online for something different, their stores don't have the product either. They give some store one and some stores didn't even get any. I called them and he told me if I would have put the product in the shopping cart they would have reimbursed me the difference later. How are you suppose to know that? Then when they conventiently became out of stock they were online for the sales price?? Something fishy with this vendor. Don't buy from them!!

hey, all you folks out there who bash Radio Shack, but have never worked in one... get a clue... the people you see running the store are not the ones to hate... we only do what we are told, which is to sell as much of our most profitable items as possible, or be terminated (employment at the shack is "at will"). If we don't hassle consumers, something a shy, laid back individual such as myself hates to do, we can be fired as well. As far as product knowledge goes... I challenge any man, woman or child on this planet to explain to me in detail the function, priciples behind function, composition, and origin of all of the hundreds of thousands of products we carry. It simply cannot be done, especially not while some teenage chick with her illigit kid is screaming in your ear, as you eyeball the strange man who keeps fidgeting in his pocket with soemthing that looks like a gun at 9 o clock at night! Why don't you go lock yourself in a tiny glass box full of millions of dollars in electronics and cash on a street corner in the ghetto, all the while wearing your little nametag which might as well say "I have the key to the register!". so no, don't complain to or about the store employees for anything that concerns lack of some obscure piece of information about your 1968 HAM radio setup... instead, please, please, please call corporate, and beg them, like i do, for help, support, and maybe, a little more than minimum wage for compensation... thank you for your time.

Radio Shack has become a bit of a relic. The transistor kits were great when I was a kid...geez, I must be getting old. It was great in the day and age when a curious and relatively inexperienced person could open up a computer and change its operation with a jumper, or install a new hard drive, or something like that. Now it'd be difficult to do that without consulting a company employee. A trip to Radio Shack won't help.

RadioShack used to be a good store, back when they still carried a lot of components like chips, resistors, switches, fuses, etc. But now all the do is try to force feed a new computer, cell phone, or remote control car down your throat when you walk in the door.

While they may have *some* individual components left in stock, I wouldn't necessarily rely on them for any hobby needs, the over-priced 3rd-party overstocks don't seem to be so prominent anymore, but neither does any support for them seem to be available any longer. Why would anyone want to buy some cheap piece of junk just 'cause it's cheap from some company known for leaving their customers holding the bag when it breaks down?

Radioshack.com is ridiculous- will not allow cancellation of an order until it is received. Also ordering item for store pickup- involves a shipping delay even tho the item already stocked in store and available immediately. Supposedly order can only be cancelled by going to store to do so. How totally backward. Would not order again online. If item in local store, it should be available immediately, even if ordered online.

I work for this lame company and I agree with anyone who says that the pay scale is horrible. All of you people out there that say "Oh, well, you don't know how to sell if you don't make money.", are full of crap. I made money before Feb 07 when they changed the pay plan. Now, I make commission on batteries and accessories??? CRAP!!! I now have no motivation to sell a TV or any end item product. Our customers are all over the age of 95 and only come in looking for damn batteries....I want to give our CEO one hell of a piece of my mind. NEWB!!

RadioShack (it's actually one word) really isn't that comparable with any other service, and while they don't even get close to CNNs list of top companies to work for, they provide a lot of use for someone looking for a random electronic device/part and probably give better service with cellphone activations than any of the cellphone stores. If you have any problem with a product or a cellphone issue it can be nice to buy with them because with over 6,000 stores in the USA they are just far more convienient than anyone else period (comparitively, Best Buy has about 800 stores).
The problem is the wide variety of experiences one can have with each individual RadioShack store, and from working there, it seems like the company really struggles to keep inventory on even common items in stock, muchless organize all of the stores into doing, well, anything. Really RadioShack tries to act like a 'mom and pop' store at a massive and corporate scale, and unfortunately the large profitability of the company doesn't show in most of their stores (some stores are pretty slick, but most are fairly subject to the zeal of the manager, who is basically the treated as the owner of the store without the profit of actually owning a store). The employees are trained mostly in sales and very little in the products themselves. RadioShack is also a bit manipulative in their employee management since they essentially pay fast food wages but act as if they are paying you more (probably typical of most companies). A manager I once worked with actually told me once with a straight face: "I pay you (he paused a bit before he said 'a lot'). . . give you the opportunity to make a lot of 'potential' money, so you should work hard." A lot of people probably complain about the low commission rate (Best Buy doesn't give commission to their floor people FYI) because of how much the idea of making commission is hyped bv the company. Realistically, if you look at the numbers, unless you are quite good at selling (and if you are, you are wasting your time at RadioShack) and you have a naturally high selling store, the 'commission' is sparce and usually isn't enough pay to justify the often large expectations of a full-time associate. To further their expectations, the dess code is very formal compared to other electronic stores, and when I work there I often am perplexed by how over dressed I am for a bottom market job where I spend most of the day catering to daft elderly. Also, RadioShack has over 30,000 products (between the online store and the actual stores) and the sales associate is expected to be able to sell any of those.
To summarize: If you need a cable and don't want a 700% markup, shop online, but RadioShack is a good place to get cellphones and random electronics; especially if walking into giant Best Buy makes you dizzy. The chance of anyone actually being able to help you with your electronic issues is random. Working there is less miserable than working in fast food, but it pays the same and is a more demanding job.

As a Radio Shack employee of one year i have become more and more disatisfied with the company i work for. I would not recomend any one to purchase any product from Radio Shack. When i first started working there in January of 2006 the pay was fairly decent. We worked strctly on commision and incentives for cell phones. Since my year tenure, they have ajusted the pay plan three times, none of which to the benefit of the employee. As of now we no longer work on commision only pay. The employees works on a base salary, either 6.50 or 7.00 an hour, plus 2.75% on only Radio Shack products. It's not easy to sell a product over priced, which most Radio Shack products are. Come to find out, the reason for the pay cut involves the greed of the new CEO Julian Day. In Julian's contract it states that if the stock goes above 30 dollars per share he gets a whopping million dollar bonus. In summary Day is screwing his employees to make the company look more profitable. If you are looking for a job with R.S. prepared to make the same amount as a full timer at Mc Donalds. Please at all cost aviod this company. The products are not worth the money!

I worked at RadioShack for over 10 years-- over 8 as a store manager. They truly are (now) an awful company to work for. There are reasons why you get terrible service in there. The employees and managers all have a right to be very pissed off. You can read the others' complaints from the associate's perspective, so here are some from a manager's. The company gave me no help with staffing my store. They expected me to do all my own recruiting, hiring, and developing myself. When I was supposed to do this during my 55-hour workweek I'm not sure. There was barely enough staff for me to cover the store and simply sell stuff, let alone go out and recruit. "Oh, just talk to the people in your store." You mean the helpless, rude, degrading 100-year-olds that are the only customers left? Or the shoplifting crystal-meth addicts that prey on the fact that there's often 1 person working in the whole store? Or the 18-year-old morons who have to be taught to say "thank you" to customers, and still don't comply? I constantly had to take the brunt of the poor quality and high prices of the sub-standard crap that's sold there. There's no point in becoming the slick salesman the company wants you to be, because anything you sell that way will be returned under their ridiculous return policy that begs people to abuse it. We used to call ourselves "rent-a-shack" because any major sale you made would come back, usually after 30 days, but if the customer bitched enough and went over your head, they got to return it anyway-- in bad condition, missing instruction manuals and/or accessories, etc. Anybody with a brain goes to Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Fry's Electronics, ANYWHERE BUT THIS PIECE-OF-CRAP-HAS-BEEN-STORE. Why did I stay so long? Everyone needs to pay the bills. And I think we all know it wasn't always like that. It's just gotten worse and worse over the years.

What you are about to read are all Facts about how bad Radio Shack treats there sales associates. The longer you work for this company the less you make ! Every year right before the holiday season Radio Shack cuts the sales associates pay. Associates are constantly harrased about cell phone sales. Ask the thousands of employees who have left Radio Shack and they will tell you how much better they are NOT working for the Shack any longer. Radio Shack likes to brainwash the new employees. A few years back there motto was "The best company in America to work for " Thats the biggest lie or shall i say joke of the century. All the losers in Texas care about is there millions of dollors they have in there stock options. They couldnt care less for the backbone of the company..the sales associate or there families. Another fact is the pay is so horrible that you cant live on your salery and if your married no way in the world can you support a family if your an associate.Thats why the bulk of the employess are students living at home with there parents,or someone retired just looking for a little pocket money. If the public really knew how bad the employee's are treated this company would be out of business. I would love to see a Union come into play and lets see what would happen then. Come on associates take what you deserve.

I went and bought a digtal camara....on 01-20-07 at about 2:00pm and the customer service there sucked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The sales man did'nt even pay attention to me, but I still went on and bought the camara....cuz wal-mart didn't have it...and I really wanted it. So then I take the camara home and take a few pics, and it seems to work fine but then later that night I tried to take a pic. it would just turn on and off.....so then I thought that it was the batteries and I change them....twice and it kept doing the same thing....so then today.....1-20-07 I took it back at around 1pm and the same sales guy took care of me asked me if he could help me, so I told him the problem...so then he told me if I had dropped it or what I did to it, so I told him I did nothing to it, so then he took the camara and did some experminting with it....and then he came back up to me and said that it was'nt working cuz I was using cheap batteries and I told him that I tried differnt brands and it did'nt work so he handed me I the camara back and told me to buy some better batteries so then I grabed the camara and I nocited that I was'nt my new camara...that it was the display camara not the one that I had bought....cuz the camara that I took in still had the protetive slip on the screen...so I told him that I it was'nt my new one and he said that was the best he could do....so I told him I wanted another new one in a box and he said he did'nt have one....so I told him I wanted my money back and he got mad and started asking me for my info. in a mean tone so then when he finished he threw the repciet on the counter and said that that a ck would be mailed to me in 2 wks. so then i said that "What it took me 2 min. to give u my money and it takes u 2wks!" and then he said it was company rules...so then I left the store very upset and mad! I will never ever shop at a RadioShack again...and I never refer them! It made me very mad that this sales person tried to cheat me out on my camara giving me a display....!!!!!!!!!!! I could'nt belive he tried to play that with me!!!!!!!!! This is such low customer service!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As a current Shack employee, i must say that the new pay plan for last year was horrible. We are basically making fast food wages now. The fact that the company reduces our commission during the busy time of the year infuriates me. I guarantee you they didnt reduce the pay for the higher-ups during that time. They are making a fortune on the backs of store employees.

I'm a former employee of "The Shack". My pay was commission-based and I guess it would be accurate to say that YOU generate your success at Radio Shack. Sure cell phones sells are great for instant cash (Spiffs), but if you learn what those things are in the parts drawer and you know how everything in the store works, you are the only source of info to the many, many, and I mean many people that have absolutely no idea how to use or maintain the electronics they spend all that money on. You show, them how to use it, how to make it better, and show them a better one if there is one. Radio Shack is the last "Mom and Pop" store out there! A good associate gives good care to the customers and they come back and they buy and they bring and send friends. You make commission, you sell "family plans", and you become the local "Electronic Physician", and the training was all hands on.

I work at the Shack right now as a part-timer. It's alright for a full-time student but when you look around and go to the stores where they one guy doing 50 cell phone sales in a month, its bull.

I work at a relatively slow location, and because of that I think that I should be given a higher base-pay than someone who works at a busy location. I mean, at least twice a week there are times where we have gotten no customers in the store for 3+ hours and we are just sitting on the floor watching 40 Year Old Virgin or Wedding Crashers.

I don't know about the never getting to sit down, or the Friday-night, saturday-morning meetings, but around here I'm sitting watching TV and getting paid for it at least 1/5 of the time I am there.

I'm currently working at the corp location in ft worth tx, pay and benefits are great and the new CEO's turn around plan looks like a charm. Sure it will be tough in the beginning stages but in a few months with the introduction of many new products, RS will revive. As for those employees and former employees complaining about low pay and sweatshop conditions... get a damn education(it worked for me, GI Bill paid for mine), you have nobody to blame but yourselves.

For those hard-to-find accessories and parts, nobody beats RadioShack. Saved my ass a few times. But I don't buy anything more than that there. I don't really think of RadioShack when I need a TV or cell phone.

ok i am a radio shack employee of 1 year...i admit the product for the most part IS HORRIBLE the parts drawers most employees dont care to learn....but hey...when it comes down to it...its a result of poor management. managers must encourage their sales team to help customers w/ the parts drawers and low ticket items in general...i kno that i do it to hopefully convert it into a cell phone sale...hey i'm just being honest i have bills too. if the salesman is good enough most customers dont even realize that they are being pitched to (if the sales associate is good enough) but for the most part...EVERY ASSOCIATE I HAVE WORKED WITH...with maybe an exception of this one fat ass i worked with 'thinks customers first' i know its cheesy but we really do think customers first...i mean how do we expect to sell a damn phone unless u gain customer trust first. i try to develop a relationship with all my customers so i can have them return...if they dont need a cell phone that day hey when it is time for them to upgrade or get a phone for their son/daughter/father/mother they just might keep me in mind because i do make it a point to address every customers need and bend over backwards to do so...you dont see that kind of service at best buy (even tho i LOVE their products)

I am a musician, and also have education in electronics. That means I do most of my own repairs and build some of my own gear. In 1975, I bought a very expensive stereo system from Radio Shack, the speakers are in my living room right now, Optimus T 100s. The manager brought it to my house and set it up for me. He worked there for years, and knew the answer to any question I had. I have spent some big money at Radio Shack over the years. Once upon a time, I knew the managers in about 3 of the local radio shack stores. Those managers were at those stores for a long time. Now, I live in the boondocks, and am quite disabled, so driving is a chore for me. I call Radio Shack ahead of time to ask for components , and am always told " yeah, we have a few of those". I then hobble to my car, drive the half hour drive to the store, and hobble into the store to find out they don't have anything even remotely similar to what I asked for. If I cannot trust them to know about their small low dollar items, I sure as hell won't plunk down dollars for big pricey items. And, there are different guys working there every time I go there. Any time you shop at a place that has a constant turnover of help and the help that is there has very little knowlege of the product, it means the company is trying to get by on the backs of people it is not willing to pay reasonably. People just do not leave jobs where they are well paid and treated. I called Radio shack headquarters the last time I drove f
