I own a '98 Regal GS and I love it. Though, I might be a little biased, being a W-body fan and all. Premium fuel is recommended for ANY higher compression engine, and the L67 (3800 Supercharged) is running slightly higher compression than the normal L36 (3800 naturally aspirated). You may experience predetonation with 87 octane, and if you run any sort of modifications at all to the motor, I would strongly advise running a higher octane of fuel. Stock motors it shouldn't be much of a problem, but I still don't recommend it. Anyhow, back to the car. What can I say? It's a great car for the money. Luxurious, sunroof, decent gas milage, handles good, and even the stock ones aren't too much of a slouch. To the previous poster, there's no way in hell a 91-96 3800 HO TPI is keeping up with any V8 Mustang (MAYBE an older 302; old beaten 5.0's can be dogs). But, thanks to the magic of an intake, supercharger pulley, exhaust, and a good AutoTap scan, you can be walking some of the GT guys left and right. Ah, the looks you get when people hear the supercharger whine.. ;-)

Whats not to like, like that other dude said, great power, system, and overall quality. People don't know this but a 97-04 supercharged gran sport or a 93-96 TPI gran sport hold their own against a stock or litly customized stang. Check out my recent comments about stangs.

buy one, good value, great power, sweet sound systems, halfway decent fuel economy if you keep them well lubricated, this applies to the last two generations of regals, 1988-1996 and 1997-2004 its a shame they discontinued the regals.

I have a '99 Regal GS. Disagree with other commenter. Does NOT need premium. That is manufacturer hype. Runs fine on regular, never pings. Fastest car I've ever had. Can be rolling 10mph, punch it and still smoke the tires. Very comfortable leather interior, monster Monsoon 200w stereo system. Sucks gas pretty bad when you 'drive' it hard. Only downside. That's why I drive my 4-banger pickup to work every day and save the car for special around town trips.

smooth drive; powerful; GSE model does take premium gas And drains it somewhat frequently, otherwise a great 5-star car!
