You really cannot help but like Willie Nelson. I remember he was just starting to get popular when I lived in San Angelo,Texas. By the time I moved, he was a household name. But, on the downside his politics is absolutely off the wall. I give Willie a 4 Star Rating.

WILLIE ROCKS

I saw him in concert a couple years ago, ol' Willie's still got it. No one else sings a song like Willie Nelson does. I don't even know if Willie even sings his own songs the same way twice. A unique style for a very unique person.

You know, I'm old enough to remember when rock stars where the potheads and country music fans pointed their fingers in harsh judgement at them. Merle Haggard sang "We don't smoke marijuana in Muskogee". But now it's cute old Willie, and he's a redneck, so that's different, right? Hypocrites!

How many hits has this guy written for himself AND other people? Crazy is one of the best songs of all time, country or pop.

too much pot. too long hanging out with the hippy-tards in austin. has developed a style of singing that makes him sound complacent. still one of the greatest country musicians ever. even liked the great divide. can never deny his talent.

I recently saw Willie Nelson in Concert-the Man is phenominal. Most of his band consists of members of his family. If you get the chance to see this Legend onstage-don't pass it up! Well worth the inflated cost of tickets these days.

Grizzled old fart who needs to descend back into his spider hole and smoke his dope until Gabriel blows his horn.

Good country singer, will give him a 4 for looking like he just crawled out of a cardboard box.....

Willie is a legend. He is and always will be one of America's finest entertainers and artists. A true original.
tvtator 11/05/2003
A singer with a unique voice and his own style. Great songwriter and guitar player. Wrote some of the best country songs. Some of my favorites are blue eys crying in the rain, angel flying too close to the ground, pancho and lefty, and seven spanish angels.

Love the music, written & sung. Don't see your ole buddy Waylon on this list. Goota be Wylon & Willie all the way!

Willie is definately in his own league. Everyone has to respect him for being original.
Molfan 01/31/2003
He has a nice singing voice. I have heard him sing not only country but some of the old standards and religious songs. I like that he does not go for the vocal gumnastics, he just plays his guitar and sings it nice and simple. He is also a good song writer.
brooke89 01/06/2003
His guitar playing is superb, awesome, unmatched. I don't think his voice should be labeled nasal; Willie's voice is still good-sounding even though it may be 'nasal'. He's an extraordinary songwriter too.

His Voice is Ugly!!! He sounds like a pig!!! He looks like a pig!!! His music SUCKS!!!
lukskywlkr. 12/19/2002
Another singer who is probably better at writing hits than singing them. Not that he's done badly at either one. He's had more than his fair share of big hits, but let's face it--his nasally singing can wear on you after a while.
finlore 03/09/2002
Willie Nelson is amazing. Although many don't appreciate his voice, I find that it has grown on me over the years until I don't enjoy anyone else singing his songs. The songs he has written and sung have covered such a tremendous range that it's hard to believe one person could be responsible for them all --Crazy, Seven Spanish Angels, On the Road Again. Along with his own songs, I find his rendition of Georgia On My Mind especially moving.

One of my fondest memories was seeing Willy's live show with my husband.

A real shame that radio won't give him any airplay these days.

Willie Nelson..Years ago I had the honor of being asked to work as what is refered too as an "Extra" in Willie Nelson's motion picture..: "Songwriter". I had always really wanted to see what he was like for myself. Sometimes the media either over or under rates a celeb. In that Austin Opry House where they did parts of the filming...that building was Packed...! And when Willie walked out on stage the audience went into a roar of applause like you'd never dream. This was all before the actual filming ever started. Those Texans showed me something...just how much they all loved Mr. Willie Nelson..! I believed them. I won't mention Kris Kristopherson and how kewl a dude he was here. And fer sure I won't say a word about what a complete "Jerk" Rip Torn acted like here...Blackie Buck's Agent... And what was that really pretty gal's name..?? Hummm...all I can say is she really sang 'Great Balls of Fire' awesomely wearin a solid red dress on stage. She was so kewl....I think her name was ummm...Ms. Leslie Ann Warren as best as I recall.

Who doesn't love "You Were Always on My Mind", "On the Road Again" & "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain"???? He also wrote "Crazy" another beautiful song. His voice & his songwriting speaks for itself.
kiwi8577 07/09/2001
Good songwriter, but looks as if he could use a bath and a shave.
CastleBee 03/09/2001
Willie is a talented song writer, has a very pleasant voice and easy going style. I like him because he doesn't appear to be trying to impress anyone - he just seems to want to have a good time playing his tunes!

Red Headed Stranger has got to be one of the greatest records to emerge from any genre.

His fame will never fade!

It was very interesting seeing Willie Nelson live last spring. Though considered country there's a real jazziness to his guitar playing. He really is the product of so many different American musics...

Little known fact: played at Bill Gates's wedding.
