An above average food, but since the reformulation about a year ago, this product isn't what it once was. Felidae now uses twice the rice they once did, and took away a portion of good meat based protein and replaced it with peas. Since the formula change, there have been numerous reports of cats (and dogs, fed Canidae) becoming ill on this food, and many cats no longer find it palateable.

I have a 5 year old cat, that did not like Felidae for years!
When they changed the ingredients to enclude more meat and flavor my cat Holly has not stoped eating!
The fact that Canidae uses Ocean Spray granberries in the food with only human grade meats, makes me feel much better about using this product.
I am happy to have found a food that is not only made in the USA, but is priced very well.

Recently reformulated, the newer formulation (with more barely, less rice) seems to be more palatable than the original. I have been using Felidae as a substitute for Nutro Max Cat and Eukanuba for years now, switching "grocery store" brand customers onto a higher quality of food. While I have never personally tried it (both of my cats have grain issues and therefore cannot tollerate the rice or barley), I have had many customers come back with positive reviews. The switch, I've been told, is quick and, as of yet, I haven't had any reports of digestive upset or diarhea (the most common issues when changing a cat's food). I am also very impressed with their willingness to stand behind their product.

  Felidae is a good food made by the same company that makes canidae for dogs.  The main reason why I don't personally feed it is that it contains less meat, and therefore less protein, than other foods....but the meat it does contain is high quality and all of the grains they include are also ones that we like to see (like rice and barley).

They use no fillers like corn, soy or wheat...and they use no animal by-products.  For the money, it's a very cost effective choice if you're looking for a quality cat food at an afforadable price.  It's actually cheaper per pound than foods like Nutro and Eukanuba, but it's MUCH better.

The main problem is that it isn't found in stores like Petsmart or Petco.  You'll need to go to a more locally owned pet store that actually cares...because I don't think the major ones do.  If they did, would they be selling Cat Chow?
