Aaliyah Dana Haughton was the ultimate singer, extremely beautiful and talented and it was a shame to lose her so early in her prime. She died on 25 August 2001. She would have been the best if she had been alive today still. She was not just a sex symbol, but also a singer and an actress. Her music touched a lot of people and she will be remembered forever. I loved the way she acted in Romeo Must Die 2000 The Queen of the Damned 2002. Her music videos were sexy and really good. She had six songs that became number one singles. i.e. 1994 Back and forth, 1996 - If your girl only knew , 1998 Are you that somebody, 2000 - Try again, 2002 - More that a women, 2003 Miss you. Even thou aaliyah has passed on; her legacy will forever live on.

Apart from "Four Page Letter", "One in a Million" and "At Your Best" and "Rock the Boat" Aaliyah unfortunately for me was not one of those female solo singers that left a lasting impression on me, I thought her music ranged from average to good with only a rare outstanding. I feel that after her death people definitely paid more attention to her music and it was definitely sad that she lost her life so young, but to me she didn't have the same musical magic of an Aretha Franklin, Mary J Blige or even Alicia Keys. Just being honest here folks.

Aaliyah was obviously a beloved performer, judging by theses comments. However its clear her death has caused people to idolize her rather than rating her fairly. She was a good entertainer, a few catchy songs, a talented dancer but she was not nearly up to par with other R&B female greats. She didn't have the pipes to compare to Aretha or the soul of Ella. I'm sure she would have continued to make hit records but she wouldn't have gone down in history as one of the greats either.

I liked her more the longer she was out. Her singing truly blossomed over time and her song "I Care 4 U" on her last cd displayed that. R.I.P. Aaliyah. I think if you had lived longer you would have proved what you really could do.

I LOVED Aaliyah. I will admit she didnt have a voice that sets one's heart askip but it was a unique sound. SHe was definitely the prettiest of RandB divas with a style all her own which was copied and no one ever talkes about that. This girl rocked and had did not have the big head syndrome so common among young music artist. SHe deserves her respect and its a shame we'll be missing her. Wow did this girl ever have talent! I bought her CD, and it helped me get through some very hard times! It also helped me deal with her death, as it happened shortly after I got her CD.She has an amazing voice, and she is an amazing person. It is such a tragedy that her life was cut short! She had talent and such an angelic voice!

It takes quite a lot ofr me to truely commit to an artist, but I found everything I was ever looking for in Aaliyah. I can't explain it, but her music hypnotizes me. She has a way and putting acrosss the most soulful performance whilst having this haunting, emotionless overtone in her voice. I think she was incredible.

Her music really touched her fans, always great lyrics about abuse, drugs, courage and of course love. She's been a source of inspiration for many over the years. Her style kept changing, but she wsa always classy, never nasty. *cough*christina aguilera*cough*. And she did not sell because of her death, did left-ye sell beacuse of her death? no. I love her! I once wrote her a "4 page Letter" about what a great singer she was" (sike!) But I loved everything from "at your best" to "are you that somebody". I also liked her videos nad watching her dance. I was saddened by her death as I don't think she realized her full potential.

I am sad to say that Aaliyah died today in a plane crash in Addaco, Bahamas! It occurred after she shot a video there. 9 others have died too.My heart goes out to her family and the other families too.Although I never really listened to her, I give my blessings to the family!=)
