Although I could care less about Clinton or this fellow's affairs,I'd rather have had Henry Jekyll than this hypocritical behemoth.

Pro-life stalwart.

Clinton lovers don't like him because of the impeachment. He had a long a distinguished career and was good for the country.
blueblitzkrieg 08/28/2004
This man is an absolute pig.
Opie Onion 05/18/2004
I think he's a moron...but that's just a youthful indiscretion on my part.
abichara 03/17/2004
Henry Hyde is best known nationally as one of the House Managers during the Clinton impeachment. Ironic that the people who went after Clinton the most vigorously were also the ones who carried on their own affairs in private. Here's a guy who attributed an affair he had with a woman when he was in his forties to youthful indiscretions! I personally don't care much about a politicians personal sex life, but it says a lot about the guy that he would try to justify his actions in light of the fact that he was going after Clinton. Youthful indiscretion? How about a mid-life crisis! A few extra stars because he's actually a thoughtful Congressman who's reasonable and independent-minded. Hyde does a good job of representing his Chicago constituents, so at least he's effective.

Hippo-crite.

His voice reminds me of Marvin The Martian. Perhaps we can hire Henry to destroy the Democrats with his Uranium, P-38, anti-space modulatorrrr...

One of the biggest hypocrites in that City of Hypocrites. Assumed such a sanctimonious attitude during the Bill Clinton Impeachment Fiasco, yet was responsible for destroying some poor slob's marriage because he couldn't keep his hands off the guy's wife. Then tried to rationalize it by calling it a "youthful indiscetion," despite the fact that he was well in his 40s at the time. Just another phony like the other whores and whoremasters on the GOP side in recent years: Newt (used to sit in the pews reading the Bible while Calista was in choir practice, before going out to the Motel 6), Livingston ("The Speaker of the House Who Wasn't": a regular Romeo), Armey (denied tenure as a college professor, in large part, for being too familiar with the co-eds), Barr (married three times, speaks out constantly against abortion yet paid for the one his second wife had), Chenowith (carried on in an extra-marital affair for years: question is, Who could get aroused by a troll like that?), Burton (fathered a child out of wedlock and wasn't enough of a man to put his name on the kid's birth certificate: this guy's a real pile of crap), Bono (Sonny's widow supposedly likes rock and roll drummers who have pronounced cocaine problems), Bob Dole (in addition to being a womanizer in his pre-Viagra days, he also skipped out on paying two years of child support for his daughter: Great Guy), and the list goes on. Hyde is also one of the most repulsively overweight members of Congress, which is, generally speaking, an august body of noteworthy lardasses.

A great man. When it came time to step up to the plate, he did his job in spite of the Clinton attack barrage.

Is he still around?
benfergy 12/08/2001
He's mostly a partisan and worshiper of the electric chair. Still, he gets a point for authoring a bill on reforming the civil forfeiture laws.
swordo3174 06/15/2001
This is a man of character, who stands for what is right, not what is politically correct! My kind of man!

This is the same guy who, in a pique of unbridled American jingoism, declared that there should be a return to the draft, in response to the flag-burning bread-and-circus and the Persian Gulf "War." After Viet Nam and 1973, rhetorically speaking, why would I want to disband selective service (with which I haven't a problem) and be forced to partake in an action that would violate my own beliefs; namely, I would be a conscientious objector and would support my country on the home front? This guy professes to speak for America when he says this inflammatory verbiage. I'm sure he's a good man, but since he is a Re-smug-lican, I'd have to smile, shake his hand and be ready to bolt out the door if I see the National Guard coming my way.

Big crook. Check Chicago record.

I found his oratory to be fascinating & eloquent during the impeachment. He seems gentle, but firm. It's a shame that we hear so little from hin now.

Henry Hyde is terrible? What are you clowns talking about? I admit, he's got the biggest, most enormous ass I've ever seen on a man, but terrible? Clinton is terrible. The Grinch is terrible. Hudson Hawk was terrible. Henry Hyde is an old man who is set in his ways. His ways, by the way, are right. Oh, I get it...you guys are mad because the Stiff didn't win. Vent away.
anastasia 11/16/2000
Henry Hyde is a coward and a hypocrite. His affableness and amiableness are not signs not of virtue but of his hypocrisy and lack of principles. He's a pro-life fighter who Janet Reno loves, according to his own website. This is a sign not only of his hypocrisy but of his complete impotence. If he led the impeachment fight against Clinton, one should not wonder why that thug and his minions are still in office.

Displayes the needed guts to stand up to the Clinton Whitehouse coverups. Unfortunate that he is not a better communicator. Americans need better education on what it takes to be in the Senate.
aldems 11/27/1999
A sanctimonious old hypocrite -- that's what he is.
john430et 11/19/1999
I watched almost every second of the impeachment hearings this man chaired, and he's clearly a nutty partisan. And a hypocritical liar.
dhat942om 11/07/1999
Henry Hyde is a hypocritical liar interested only in his own political gains.
jkri642om 11/03/1999
Distinguished man given a difficult assignment.
Ruby 10/26/1999
Could anyone have been as amiable as Henry Hyde while being vilified for doing his constitutional duty? Anyone who buys the line that Hyde is a nutty partisan must never have watched a second of the Impeachment hearings he chaired.
