An insane, racist religious fanatic. The perfect example (along with GWB) with what is wrong with the US. In any other country (except Iran and the like) he would be a laughingstock.

I like pat. The man knows his history. I see that rate it all is visited mainly by left wingers and that is fine. I would like to see pat as pres, I believe pat could solve a lot of mistakes bush made. Go to hell liberals.

Pat Buchanan is a big, loud, rude, arrogant, pompous ass. He is a pig face caucasian version of Al Sharpton. Buchanan is really more of a shock jock than a politician. His major claim to fame was being a member of Richard Nixons staff. Aside from being on the steering committee for the Titanic, I cant think of a worse credential.
GenghisTheHun 07/22/2005
Visionary. Much of what he has written about for the last twenty years is coming to pass. He is disliked for his stand on the Middle East more than anything he has done. He is for American's national interest first and others second. Many of our chattering class do not like this stance!
GOPmember76 07/14/2005
A GREAT writer. Sometimes goes over the top, but I think he does that to provoke deeper discourse. Wish he had one more White House run in him.
kar54 05/31/2005
Read his book Death of the West and you'll see first hand that he is indeed a visionary. Things we all know but are afraid to discuss.
Mr.Political 11/05/2004
This guy doesn't exactly put the wind in my conservative sails, if you know what I mean. His magazine is dedicated only to the Iraq war and he's been a little to nutty for my taste lately.
scarletfeather 11/02/2004
This guy has been on my Ignore List (along with folks like Rosie O'Donnell, Joan Rivers, and Jerry Springer) since 1992. I'll never forget the night I turned on the Republican Convention and I saw Pat Buchanan just absolutely spewing hatred. His hate-filled rant was certainly a far cry from George Bush Sr's. A Thousand Points of Light speech at the 1988 Republican Convention. Anyway, I turned off Buchanan in mid-rant and I have been ignoring him ever since.
sfalconer 11/02/2004
Put a small mustashe on him and a couple of Swasticas and you have a famous dictator from the late 30's early 40's. Can you say Nazi, I knew you could.
fierce_pajamas 09/11/2004
He's honest and classy, which is more than you can say about most of the political mutants you see these days.
the end 09/09/2004
If I were a dictator, he would not exist. No wrong that anyone could ever do to this man could ever be worse than the pain he has caused my people. If my people are sub-human, than Buchanan is not human at all.
truthordare 09/02/2004
Suspected of drinking tainted Kool-Aid, but it didn't quite do the job. I'm conservative, but the old irishman swims in the VERY deep end of the conservative pool.
blueblitzkrieg 08/28/2004
He's god-awful but I'm giving him 2 stars because he has a new book out called 'Where the Right Went Wrong' that criticizes the Bush administration, and it's always fun to see conservatives fight other conservatives. Kill eachother!!!
gangstassnigga 08/26/2004
An overall retard, but i like his hard line approach to seal off the southern border (to keep all the illegals outta here). Some people leave water in the desert for them. I say lace the water with strychnine. That will send the right message.
lbuchite 08/25/2004
they did not have a minus on here so i had to give him a one makes Richard Nixon look like a sunday school teacher its people like him is why they made murder against the law
DiamondDavid 04/25/2004
I wonder if Buchanan knows he's merely a tool for liberal media outlets. Far too often, I see Buchanan as the conservative representative in a left-right discussion. However, he is constantly criticizing President Bush and neo-conservatives (note: neo-conservatives is a code word by the liberal media and Buchanan for Jewish Conservatives, when in reality the actual term means new conservatives). The media's goal here is to say, See? Even conservatives like Buchanan are at odds with Bush's agenda! Sorry, we're not buying it, as most political observers are aware that the Bush Family and Buchanan were never the best of friends. I have no problem with Buchanan offering differing views to the current administration, but I'm sick of the media annointing him as the token conservative during political discussions.
abichara 03/20/2004
I think that Pat Buchanan is an individual who can communicate the issues well, however I disagree with him very deeply on many things. He is a strong advocate of protectionism, Buchanan ran on this issue three times. In short, this economic policy/philosophy simply does not work for us anymore, we are a different country than we were 200 years ago and in order to keep our economy healthy, we must continue lowering tariffs. I don't really agree with many of his nativist views either; he comes from the point of view that immigrants from Latin America are lowering our living standards and I really disagree with that coming from a family who immigrated from Latin America. It's easy to point out that immigrants take up jobs that should go to Americans whose families have been here longer, but most end up taking jobs that no one wants to do for cheap. He resorts to stereotyping and I don't like that. Surprisingly he's loosened up on culture war issues. He opposes the gay marriage amendment and really never talks those issues anymore. He focuses in more on taking on the neo-conservative wave currently overtaking the Republican party; unilateralism, interventionism that only weakens us in the long run. He's a fine spokesman on these issues.
buckey 01/30/2004
Occasional insightful remarks outweighed by his xenophobia and bigotry.
LadyShark4534 01/12/2004
Pat Buchanan.......Let's look at his so-called values. Pat thinks the morning after pill used for rape victums is a abomination before God. He says abortion is the greatest evil. He also says homosexuals get what they deserve from AIDS. He says they need to have no voice in our country. He wants to prevent them from having civil unions. He wants segregation. He wants to bring God back to the public schools and everyone to all be Christian. He wants to end bilingualism and states he is against multicultralism. He says celebrating Earth Day is blasphemous for worshipping dirt. Pat Buchanan is a nut!

The man who admires Hitler cannot be a good politician. Thank goodness he didn't get elected president. His views are worse than Bush's.

This man is not misunderstood, he is a racist, corrupt, inflammatory maniac. As a Canadian, I have special emnity towards this a$$hole, as he seems to think that his brand of psychotic bigotry should be extended across the border into our country. That will never happen. This man has no moral scruples, for all his bible-thumping prosletyzing. He was supportive of the president of Liberia, simply because the man was a baptist, forgetting that Charles Taylor was also a corrupt and genocidal lunatic. Buchanan also forgot to mention that he had financial interests in the current Liberian regime, which was the basis for his support rather than any ethical reasons. As long as Americans listen to this fanatic, I will continue to look down upon your country, because a country where even a fraction of the populace supports guys like this deserves everything that every happens to it.

twinmom101 05/08/2003
This guy is a real dillema for me. On one hand I can appriciate someone like Buchanan who encourages high moral standards, especially as our own seem to be eroding away in this country. However, good morals come in many packages and I have a real problem with a man who can condemn myself and my family as infidel heathens without even meeting us. Just because we are muslim does not make us evil. High morals come in many different packages and I'm tired of seeing muslims, gays and foreigners who are kind, compassionate people get trounced by someone like Buchanan who cannot open his eyes wide enough to see that moral values are not confined to white american christians. Until he can be more accepting of others, I can't help but see him as an intolerant bigot who really misses the point.
RebelYell1861 04/24/2003
To be quite honest, I think he's a great man.
GHWBushFDRReag an 04/24/2003
I don't like Buchanan. I have listened carefully to him, and I believe he is a bigot. I don't believe that Buchanan poses a political threat, however, some needs to keep a tight reign on this junkyard dog.

Solenoid DH 02/27/2002
Pat Buchanan was the most powerful columnist in America from the mid-1970s to the mid-1980s. He was the very reason I started reading the editorial page. And for several years, there was no prominent writer who expressed my views like he could. But in recent years, he has changed several of his positions and I don't really enjoy him like I used to. Still, I rate him "great" because he is a man of principle who will stand up for what he believes, no matter who likes or doesn't like it. It's hard to think of anyone else who is that courageous and independent.
Cynical Sam 02/20/2002
Those who refer to Pat Buchanan as a patriot have confused patriotism with jingoism. There's a big difference. And to refer to him as a Nazi sympathizer is hardly disingenuous, since Buchanan himself made the statement about Hitler being a great but misunderstood man. The similarities between Buchanan and Hitler are really scary when one considers that there are few policy differences between the two and the only cosmetic difference is a mustache.
Shukhevych 01/10/2002
One of America's misunderstood yet greatest men of our time. Not afaidd to face the lies of detractors and ell the truth!
TheFreak 09/07/2001
If I ever meet the chicken patty Buchanan, will one of you please remind me to pretend that I am George Bush Sr. and he is a Japanese statesman. This way, I will have a good excuse for throwing up on him. Is there a rating for "disgusting, religious fanatical, womanizing, racist, sexist, homophobic, escaped asylum patient, thinks-he's-God's-gift-to-mankind-but-is-really-Satan's-gift to-destruction-of-all-the-good-in-this-world, flat out STUPID jerk who thinks he can run for president"? If not, think of this one star as just that rating. I'd be willing to bet that he watches "Teletubbies" just like Jerry Falwell and watches for gay role models. Time for him to go away and leave me alone.
ellajedlicka21 08/23/2001
An A-rated bigot.
RonaldReagan00 7 07/17/2001
A great man... no one ca question that. And I believe that he would be a solid pesident as well. He's for putting America first and getting rid of such racist programs as affirmative action, which is unconstitutional. Not no mention hes pro-life or anti-murder (whichever you prefer).Sounds much like one of our Greatest presidents, Ronald Wilson Reagan. It's really too bad he didn't beat out Dole for the GOP nomination in '96. Then maybe we would't have suffered through 4 more years of Clinton-Gore and the disaster Billy boy put our country through. I'm proud to say I voted for him this year.
Reversal 06/28/2001
It is time for America to realize that reverse discrimination also exists. And that there needs to be laws to protect the majority race as well as the minority race. Much more enforcemnt is needed. Special government organizations need to be set up to check and enforce those rights. If we cannot come to terms on true equality, then separation is the only answer. Separate but equal; however, if the civil rights law was amended to include protection for the rights of the majority race, then maybe true equality or civil rights as it was intended to be can be more realized.
Rusty 06/14/2001
A great example for every insensitive, intolerant, jingoistic clod to come down the turnpike. Being a conservative is one thing. Being true to oneself is also one thing. But being patriotic and pro-American to the point of denigrating and deeming all alternative perspectives and viewpoints as subversive and worthy of whale waste is just plain bigoted, narrow-minded, tunnel-visioned, insouciant, anti-intellectual, and just about any additional adjective that can be applied to this esteemed Catholic "thinker." I read his autobiography, "Right From the Beginning," and I learned to appreciate that I live in a country where all viewpoints can be tolerated---not liked, necessarily, but tolerated. Pat is a by-product of a parochial, insular environment that venerated family, church, marriage, education, and so forth---all highly worthy, practical values. But when goofuses such as Pat Buchanan distort and misappropriate these values to reflect his ideal society: segregated schools, no acknowledgement of back-alley abortions, no social welfare net for the indigent, banishment of the mentally ill and the mentally retarded to out-of-the-way institutions, no acknowledgement of other religions' and cultures' contributions to the betterment of American society except white European males and females, lack of available higher education to blacks, Hispanics and other minorities----this is a nightmare! I can only hope that there are people in our country who can see Jack Boot-chanan for the right-wing wacko he is, and not be taken in with his beady-eyed intransigence and threats of communists and socialists and Shriners and Muslims and any other group he deems a threat to his seemingly fascist views. He would look pretty good with the little black mustache on his upper lip, wouldn't he, now?

The ONLY honest and moral man who's run for president lately. It's a shame that the American sheeple can't see through the media lies, or don't care whether we have a president with true virtues.
