Everything Passes 01/22/2009
When I saw Dick Cheney in a wheelchair at the inauguration on Tuesday, I couldn't help but think of Mr. Potter in the movie "Its a Wonderful Life". Like Potter, Cheney strikes me as a conniving old bastard who is out for his own best interests (and maybe those of a few of his cronies), to hell with everybody else. What a Dick! Thankfully, many of the policies that Cheney helped create, such as the Iraq War, Guantanamo Bay prison and acceptable torture will soon be dismantled by President Obama. Cheney can now crawl back under the rock from which he came. Like George Bailey, I have seen what life was like in Pottersville, and I am mighty glad to be back in Bedford Falls.

Most dangerous man in America
scarletfeather 12/24/2008
Sinister, evil, devious, corrupt man. He is supposedly the brains (if you could call it that) behind the Let's Get Them Before They Get Us foreign policy that has proved so disastrous. UPDATE: He has been all over the media lately, justifying his actions, even saying that he and Bush left the Executive branch in fine shape, and that Obama should approve. This man has no humility. At least Bush seems to realize how his actions may have tarnished his legacy, but Cheney is just an arrogant p@@@.

This man has about as much compassion for people as a snake. I have heard enough of his speeches, and that's all the proof anyone needs. He's one cold individual.

Everytime Cheney gets 5 stars an angel falls from heaven and is later eaten by Dick Cheney, or so I'm told...

Dangerous man. Should check into Gitmo and waterboard himself.

Lives in conspiricies and makes the world a worse place to live in by not making decisions to improve it. Like Bush, he lied, killed, and robbed. Has enough guts to say the US soldiers are still fighting Al-Qaeda in Iraq.

Update: Who put the "vice" in Vice President? That's right, ladies and gentlemen, it's the Supreme Warlord of the United States, the Mastah of Disastah, The Ayatollah of Steamrollah, it's DIIIIIIIIIIICK CHENEY!
Jabba the Hutt, but less jovial. The Supreme Emperor of Neoconservatism (read: unfettered corporatist greed) and Boss Tweed of The Sociopathic Plutocracy. A man with a one-trick-pony definition of what it means to be "successful." Serious anal-retentive control freak with a mean/cruel streak a neoconservative democracy wide. The man behind the curtains to the Great and Glorious Dubya. One-man Constitution-wrecking crew; white version of Idi Amin, especially with respect to corrupt dealings and conflicts of interest, using political office for manipulation and personal gain...other than that, he's a hell of a shot.
To all who thought he was an honorable man before getting to know him a little better, what do you think of him now? Let's ask anyone who's been slimed and stomped on by this reject as a human being. Scooter Libby; ask anyone who dared cross him...Valerie Plame, Joe Wilson...think Mafia Don with a WASP upbringing and you've NAILED Cheney and his existentialistic, the economy-is-more-important-than-the-Constitution cabal of thugs.
Why is it that guys who so wimpily avoided military service become the ones who sacrifice the youth of generations to the God of Greed. With evil this insidious and hidden from view, who needs Satan?

Getting beer-faced and Shooting an old man in the face is THE LEAST HORRIBLE THING that this quacking penguin (slash) weasel has ever done. It wasn't even the worst thing he did THAT DAY!!! I've got just two words for all the RNC protectionists still sucking publicly on Cheney's Di... uh, ...'GUN BARREL', and those two words are "War Criminal". If Dick Cheney isn't a war criminal, then that term has been un-defined downwardly - and intentionally dumbed-down till it LITERALLY means NOTHING.
ata1324 03/05/2007
This guy is so corrupt. Oh yeah, he was powerful and influencial. But not in a good way. Someone who was the former CEO of a large corporation should not be vice president because HE WONT BE REPRESENTING THE INTERESTS OF THE PEOPLE! He'll be representing Halliburton and will be giving them all the contracts. Of course, you can't mention Dick Cheney without mentioning the Valerie Plame affair. I mean, how stupid can you be to threaten a person's life and take away her job because her husband found out some truth that you don't like? You can't even trust this guy with a gun let alone trust him with a country! What a dick.
VirileVagabond 11/18/2006
I can see why average Joe Democrat would vilify Dick Cheney, being the target of so much nonsensical political rhetoric, but frankly Cheney has had a rather solid career in public service. In my opinion, Cheney is a straight shooter who is intellectually honest and usually makes strong arguments for his positions (even if I don't always agree). As Secretary of Defense under Bush, Sr., Cheney had to oversee the downsizing of the military due to the end of the Cold War and conduct the first Gulf War. Given the hesitation of Congress to cut defense contracts in their home states and the complex coalition in that conflict, he was rather successful on both fronts. Moreover, Cheney has probably been the most powerful and influential Vice President (at least in recent history). As for the criticisms, I don't understand why being successful in private business should be a liability for public office. Frankly, alleging fraud and bad faith due to his interest in Halliburton is akin to claiming that social workers want to increase poverty and suffering in order to keep their jobs.
williamb 05/12/2006
Let's face it all our politicians are in office to benefit themselves or their former company's. We don't even enter into the picture! He seems Cheney is doing that better then most!
rosemd 04/15/2006
Another corrupt piece of crap inflicted upon us by the extreme right. He's more intelligent than his boss, and probably more evil. He's done great things for Halliburton, ExxonMobile, ConocoPhilips, etc. Thanks DICK!

One of the most dangerous men in the world.
frogger20190 03/14/2006
More dangerous to the American (and the planet's) people than Dubya (not to mention his hunting pals). So Cheney claims that "terrorist attacks have been avoided because of the wiretapping." But he can't give any more information about it "because of security." How convenient. That's like me boasting I've created a formula to make people invisible but I can't share it with anyone because our enemies may get their hands on the formula.

The Elmer Fudd of politicians.
JohnSpina 02/21/2006
I hear that the New York Knicks want to sign Cheney to a contract.I know they can use someone with a good outside shot. Seriously,folks...Well,he is a bright guy who works hard and has the personality of used mop water. The left villifies him and the right seems to love him.Me?I can take him or leave him. I just hope that when the Easter egg hunt comes to the White House that he does not shoot the Easter bunny.
Underspin 02/18/2006
Enough cheap shots at Cheney for the hunting accident; it just makes his opposition look opportunistic and infantile. Whether you agree with his politics or not, freak accidents are an unfortunate part of life; how can one take pleasure in such tragic misfortune??

if theres one thing ive learned, its not to go quail hunting with mr cheney..............

This opinion was brought to you by the NRA. I don't know that much about this guy. All I know about him is that he always has heart attacks and he shot his friend "by accident." He must have been really drunk, because humans don't look like animals unless they are wasted.

"Darth" Cheney definitely resides on the dark side.

Any chance we can go back in time and swap VP'S with some prior administration? ANY VP? I'd even take Aaron Burr over this mean, deceitful, scoundrel any day.

American Fascist. Cheney is amazingly corrupt.
LoDoMark 11/21/2005
Smug, arrogant, hypocritical, deceitful....ol' "5 deferments" Cheney is evil personified. If I ever see him in public, I'll start throwing Big Macs his way... He was closing a real estate deal on a mansion in Maryland while people in New Orleans were sill on their rooftops. If he had a soul I don't think he could sleep at night...but apparently he sleeps pretty well.

A great man. A good, kind-hearted, intelligent politician who with Bush has done a fine job in my view. I'm ashamed at the lot of you, saying such cruel things about Mr. Cheney. Long live Mr. Cheney, I hope you live a hundred years! I hang on to the thin hope of Mr. Cheney running in 2008 :) I would also like to thank Mr. Cheney for coming to my high school back in 2000. Four more years!

I have to vote for Edwards now. Here is Dick Cheney's true voting record: He opposed federal funding for abortions -- with no exceptions in the case of rape or incest. He voted against the Equal Rights Amendment for women, along with 146 other members of Congress in 1983. On Education, he consistently opposed funding of Head Start and voted against creating the Department of Education. Raised in Wyoming and opposes, as many Westerners do, gun control limits. He was one of just 21 members of Congress, in December of 1985, to vote against a ban on armor piercing bullets -- called cop killer bullets. Three years later he was one of only four members of the House voting against a ban on plastic guns that could slip through airport security machines undetected. The National Rifle Association did not oppose this ban. Also in 1988, he voted to scrap a proposed national seven-day waiting period on handgun purchases. In 1986, on the environment, he opposed refunding the Clean Water Act. He voted to postpone sanctions slapped on air polluters that failed to meet pollution standards. And he voted against legislation to require oil, chemical and other industries from making public records of emissions known to cause cancer, birth defects and other chronic diseases. He consistently voted to raise military spending. He also supported aid to the Nicaraguan rebels, even after a moratorium on funding was passed. During his 11 years in Congress,he was moderate only in his personal style, getting along with Democrats and Republicans. As for his votes, he consistently received very high marks from conservative groups ranking his record. He fought efforts to clean up hazardous waste and backed tax breaks for energy corporations. He repeatedly voted against funding for the Veterans Administration. He opposed extending the Civil Rights Act. He opposed the release of Nelson Mandela from jail in South Africa. He opposed Martin Luther King, Jr. as a holiday. Of course, not to mention Cheney tried to say that Edwards did something wrong and wasn't paying enough taxes by being an S-Corporation. This is preferred legal entity of most small businesses in America. Therefore, Cheney is basically saying all small businesses are not paying enough taxes. I'm changing my vote to Kerty/Edwards. Hard to do as a Republican, but I am!

cheney turns 64 in january, so i'm going to give mike tyson a call so he can deliver 64 birthday punches to cheney's face and nuts.....then i'm going to put a stamp on the vp and send him to antarctica

Dick Cheney is a shame to the office and to all Americans. During the debate in Cleveland last night, Cheney used much of his time defending Haliburton. Is he Vice President of the most powerful nation on earth, or CEO of Haliburton. Furthermore, even the appearance of impropriety is unbecoming of a man in his position. His allegiance to Haliburton belies his claim that he does not have a conflict of interest. The state of the economy, the high rate of employment, and the decapitations which infiltrate televisions all over this globe speak for themselves. It is time for a new administration, one which values the lives of the people of this nation and not oil. This adminsitration has been a travesty. I only hope that Americans can open their eyes and stop claiming allegiance to political parties. We are all Americans, and we should feel for the families who have had to bury their young.
duke7734 10/05/2004
He is not the CEO CFO or anything else to Haliburton...Clinton hired HALIBURTON during his term to rebuild various areas in Europe. They are the best at what they do and had the lowest bid...Count how many times Edwards says the word HALIBURTON tonight...the more he does the more it will hurt the DemocRATS....duke
