 | augustwes31 (0) 09/29/2008 | I just bought 3 GAP "perfect t's" on-line at 12.50 each on sale from 16.50 and these are without a doubt the worst t-shirts I have ever purchased. They are sooo thin you can see through them, they have absolutely no shape, and one is already splitting at the neck after 2 washes.
I realize many of these sight are just for people to complain and I am doing that but my complaint is honest. Do not buy these shirts.

 | Jillstrainic (0) 01/12/2008 | I bought a cashmere sweater at gap.com and a pair of slacks at the Gap store in December. After wearing each twice, both turned out to be defective... the knit in the sweater started to unravel at a seam, and the hem of one leg of the pants came completely undone as I was wearing them.
Gap's return policy didn't give me enough options. I e-mailed customer service and they responded that I should take both items to the store. The manager at the store was rude and complained that I hadn't brought in the e-mail from the online customer service (it was not difficult to see that the clothing was falling apart!). The items were not in stock in the store, and she told me that Gap's policy doesn't allow them to ship me replacements unless I pay the shipping costs, nor do they allow me to have the items repaired at their expense.
I liked the design of both items, and didn't want to return them. Most stores will waive shipping costs if necessary. I was disappointed with both the quality of the clothes at Gap and the service.

 | Travolips (0) 12/03/2007 | As a former employee of Gap, I grew up loving Gap and wanting to be in the Gap where everything was cool. There would be George Michael playing and happy employees everywhere willing to help. Then there were the coolest holiday commercials saything everyone get together, love train and who could forget crazy stripes??. Then, they stopped listening to the customers, and even worse when I BECAME GAP (an employee) I felt like I didn't matter, that my GENERAL MANAGER never worked 40 hours, my Dm drove a nice car and fluffed sweaters and told me I had to open CREADIT CARDS, and oh yeah, still barely paid me 10.00 bucks an hour. THat's when I knew it was time to say goodbye!

 | hiphopdiscounts (0) 04/20/2007 | I have a bunch of GAP hoodies, (old school type), they are about 7 years old and they suffered great deal of torture, but still they look very good.
So I have to say that quality of GAP's products and fabrics they use, is quite solid (or it used to be 7 years ago:)).

 | minkey (40) 05/30/2006 | GAP's been hurting the past couple years. They were on top for a while and just got complacent. Their clothes are along the same lines as Old Navy - but at twice the price. They have get a whole new design team and start over or they're just going to keep slipping.

 | ArtificialGrape (0) 05/30/2006 | Gap was good before it went on the high design crusade and became "The Gap."
I grew up on Gap jeans, Gap sweaters, Gap t-shirts, and even their socks.
Stiff and starchy at first, but once broken in lasts a hella long time.
Now adays the way they cut the blouses is ridiculously low-quality, the materials aren't as durable, and the dyes seem to fade faster.
For their diminishing level of quality and taille research The Gap products are extremely overpriced.
But to save face, i have to give props to their scent line.
Their body sprays aren't too bubbly, nobbish, nor high-maintenance; they're just right.

 | IanV. (0) 03/27/2006 | I never find anything I like at Gap! Once, I got a gift card and it took me forever to find a few things I seldom ware. Besides that, the quality is pretty poor, 80% of the merchandise is made in China which is a number one human rights violator. When you are byuing your $9.99 pair of jeans on sale think of the poor chinese people who work in the Gap's sweatshops!

 | Biff_Pearl (0) 02/26/2006 | I have always appreciated everything San Francisco based GAP (Gay And Proud) has done for the gay community, but they need to get it together with their clothing. In the past, I have worn GAP clothing to flamboyantly display pride in my lifestyle, but the quality in the clothing has taken a nosedive in recent years. Quite simply, the quality is extremely low compared to what it was in GAP's heyday, the 90's. It's hard to wear the Gay And Proud acronym with pride when the fabric is cheap, especially compared to what it once was. Come on GAP, show a little pride yourselves and give us something we can all be proud of. The gay community takes a lot of pride in your brand of clothing. Make us proud once again.

 | Vudija (100) 02/26/2006 | Biff: Not that it matters that you're being fueled by a myth on the name, but you're whole comment about "Gay and Proud" isn't the acronym of the store. The Gap took it's name from the reference to "The Generation Gap". Gap and at least 6 urban myths site claim the same concept. It's a sheer coincedence and it was based in San Fran. because the owner is from the area, not to make some sort of statement. You can condemn the now poor quality of the material, but disliking it because it's not staying true to the homosexual lifesyle, when they didn't set out aiming at homosexual buyers in the first place, is pointless. Disliking the clothes is reason enough...Here's a link that sheds light on the very point I am trying to make, including why it would be silly to hide this so-called acronym when pride is supposed to be open, and not kept secret.

 | cwhite329 (1) 01/17/2006 | Alot of the clothing is pretty high priced and bland as some people put it. I never find anything for myself. I love GAPKIDS though. I only buy their stuff on sale. If you can find something on sale you end up paying Old Navy prices. I just got my daughter a pair of jeans for $9.99 and a long sleeve t for $4.97. I was pretty pleased.

 | veenat (0) 07/19/2005 | The Gap is great for the basics. I love their casual skirts, and the jeans fit great. I also like the fact that they have smaller sizes. But never buy anything here at full price, because everything goes on sale here eventually!

 | rateitgal7 (0) 06/30/2005 | I agree with Seraph, Old Navy does have more flare. But Gap has better sizes for smaller people than Old Navy. Old Navy's styles is all about funky and wild, while Gap is more preppy. I like both. Gap has good sizes, the stores are clean, but they're pricey. But I'm willing to spend more for a comfortable fit.

 | Seraph (10) 10/30/2004 | I don't like the Gap -- their clothes aren't terribly high quality and they're very plain. Old Navy is much cheaper and has some flare to it.

 | Bird808 (55) 09/08/2004 | I'm a sucker for Gap clothing as I usually love their Autumn/Winter range, their Summer line is ok, but at times it looks a bit too cheap. Like most have stated here they need to realise the variety of womens heights as they don't cater for petites or talls.
(0 voted this helpful, 0 funny and 0 agree) |
 | bibliophile (13) 09/08/2004 | I have often seen Gap window displays, gone inside to find the clothes that were displayed, then been told that they don't carry the clothing in petite sizes. What is worse, they try to talk me into settling for something that doesn't fit. I didn't take the bait, but I thought it was unethical. I have learned that Gap is a waste of my time. Their prices are very high for what you get, plus, they ignore a segment of the market (women 5'4 and under).

 | trem0lo (0) 04/19/2004 | Gap makes good quality clothing, but the retail prices are generally a bit pricey. Always check the sale rack and you might find something, especially when they put their seasonal stuff on clearance... Unfortunately their best jeans (for men anyway) rarely go on sale so you're stuck paying $50 if you really like them. They carry a huge selection of different fits for men and women, and the racks are logically organized and well labeled so you know exactly how the jeans will fit. Generally the trendier fits, like the low-rise boot fit, have better washes and colors, and look better on men who are skinny, but like I said Gap carries a good selection for just about all body types, and you can get extended sizes online.

 | Carla106 (0) 04/13/2004 | Their clothes cost WAY too much. It's just plain t-shirts and jeans. what so great about that? the quality of the clothes isnt so great either. seriously, im not going to pay $20 for a white t-shirt when i could easily buy one exactly like it for 5 bucks at another store.

 | kolby1973 (33) 11/28/2003 | I like to shop at the GAP when I am buying clothes for friends and family. An excellent gift store. As for me, I personally don't like most of their clothes on me. But I do not think it is bad quality. And I love the BABY GAP. It has such a cute name. :) I buy clothes for my nieces and nephews at Baby Gap all the time. Awesome stores.

 | tvtator (6) 11/28/2003 | If you want a good pair of jeans, a good decent pair of khakis, a good basic oxford to begin with then The Gap is a good store. Some of their stuff is a bit pricey, but it can be worth it.

 | IgnamtPenn (0) 10/19/2003 | Gap clothes are... well they're kinda bland. But sometimes, all you really want is a plain black sweater or a plain white oxford shirt. The Gap is pretty good about keeping their clothes simple and classic... atleast for their men's line. A little bit pricy? Yeah, a bit. Can you find the same kinds of items at cheaper stores? Of course. Are the cheaper, generic brands better? Usually not, but sometimes. I wouldn't advise anyone to fill their entire wardrobe with GAP stuff... hat would be one terribly DULL wardrobe. But it can't hurt to have a few Gap items in there (a pair of khakis, a sweater, some gray t-shirts, whatever).

 | jred (0) 10/13/2003 | The Gap is a great place to shop if you have no sense of individuality or taste. They sell generic clothes for people who are afraid to be something other than what they see on television. The hard thing to believe, is that people don't care. "Everybody in vests". You mindless sheep, fashion should be an expression of self. Is that how you want to be seen? A generic cop-out lining the pockets of people who have designed you.

 | DeathRattle (1) 08/15/2003 | Myself, I never cared for any of their clothing line. Their style seems to be to preppy. Some of it looks decent, but not impressive. Also, their prices are ok. Some of their clothing line is a bit expensive though. I could find better prices at Dillards.

 | carfreak88 (0) 08/14/2003 | I love the Gap. A lot of my clothes are from the there. The only thing I will not buy from there are the jeans because the two pairs I have seemed to have expaned two or three sizes after just a few washings. Can uaually find good deals, and not everyone shops there so you are not wearing the same thing as 50 other people.

 | ellenruth (0) 05/24/2003 | Gap jeans are the only ones I wear, because they fit me well. They have enough styles that if one doesn't work for you, it seems unlikely that another won't. I think it's great that they've started expanding to include bright colors and fun prints in their lines. If you want basic and boring, go to J.C. Penny. And yeah, it's cookie cutter- how many things do you own that are actually one of a kind? If you need clothes to make you stand out, I'm sorry.

 | EMT20002 (0) 05/09/2003 | The Gap used to be cool a few years ago, and I even worked there part-time when I was in high school. But, now all of their clothes are... well, blah. They are so boring and dull now. They used to have some cool clothes, but now they have nothing! They have carried the same exact line of clothing for quite a while now (for about two and a half years now from what I have noticed), and they rarely change anything. The only t-shirts that they have now are the plain colored ones, or boring ones that just say "GAP" on them. The only thing that they are still good for are boxer shorts. Now I pretty much only shop at American Eagle and Abercrombie. At least their clothes have life to them. I haven't really bought anything at the Gap in about three years (since I worked there), and I don't intend to go into that store until they get their act together and get their cool clothes back!

 | The_Decockster (0) 04/21/2003 | I like Gap a lot. They sell LONG jeans, which are hard to find elsewhere, and their clothing generally has a timeless, classic, last-a-long-time look. My only problem with them is that they don't have enough low-rise jeans.

 | shopgirl1979 (0) 03/19/2003 | The Gap and the whole Gap Inc. which includes Old Navy and Banana Republic GREAT! I love everything that I have ever bought at the Gap. Most of their styles stay for quite awhile. Favorite product? Definetly their ribbed turtlenecks they bring each fall. I probably have 20! The only thing I do notice is that their black cotton fades very quickly. Otherwise, two very enthusiastic thumbs up!

If you're shopping for a gift they usually have pretty good suggestions. I'd say the Gap is pretty on top of things!

 | Teaseress (15) 05/14/2002 | Love the TV commercials, but not really that keen on the clothing. I don't wear jeans and I hate plain white T shirts. When I walk into one of their main stores (I live in London, UK) I'm bored. There is nothing that grabs my attention. There's only one redeeming thing. I went into one of my local charity shops and saw a lovely pair of dark grey trousers (very smart, work trousers) for four pounds and fifty pence, they were originally from Gap. bargin!

 | Some_Fantastic (0) 04/11/2002 | I can't seem to understand the fascination of boring clothes for insanely high prices. Is it just the "in" thing to do, pay $120 for a pair of jeans that you could get somewhere else for less than half the price? Or $44 for a short sleeve shirt? Even their sales racks seem to be overpriced, and all of the sizes that I wear are gone, leaving size ones and size eighteens. Definitely do NOT recommend to those who don't have money to burn.

 | Springsteen80sbaby (1) 11/25/2001 | Some of the styles in the Gap are just a little tacky (the 70s skirts were a bit hard on the eyes :)), but all in all, I like their store. I don't like the way their jeans fit, though, and I have yet to find anyone else who does. But aside from those few negative comments, they really do have some great conservative clothes I can wear to work. Yes, the clothes are pretty highly priced, but unless you shop at discount or department stores, you're going to overpay...it's a given. I really do like some of the basics in the Gap - khaki pants, ribbed turtlenecks, fitted tees, basic shirts that are just a step above average, nice smelling fragrances, cute kids pajamas (in Gap Kids and Baby Gap), (oh, and I found the cutest sheer cappuchino colored button-down shirt with only 2 buttons), things I have seen at the other stores, too, but somehow the Gap seems just a touch above average.
