Their quality sucks. Some pieces are gorgeous, some look tacky. I'd suggest people into the Goth, Punk, and Rock 'n Roll scenes seek independant stores or shop online. The sky is the limit. Even putting pieces together the right way from more "vanilla" stores can add originality and much better quality.

I buy the occasional t-shirt with anime on it and the gauged earrings or something but i don't go for the gloves or boots or gothic stuff. Not against gothic people or anything it's just not me. The employees at the Hot topic where I'm at are nice and i like their piercings. Pretty cool cause they have Invader Zim stuff and some cool posters.

Hot Topic is one of those stores set up to suck more money from preppy teens who claim they want to be different. The only reason I go there is for their clearance shirts with nasty sayings. Everything is over priced, mass produced, and geared towards those who want to pretend to be rebels...with mommy and daddy's credit card. Sorry dears...black nails and a Slipknot shirt doesn't make you goth/punk. What happened to all the vampire/gothic dresses they had ten years ago?

Though not discussed as such, this is a store that competes primarily with Pac Sun and Claires. The style of their clothing mimics that of stores that sell the same highschool demographic, which according to the company ends at about age 21. To be honest, I am glad there is a chain that sells some pre-packaged "darker" clothing (a lot of people like it), but the idea that this store is any more punk/goth than any other is where I think the mixup begins. They sell some slightly different things, but rarely any more do they deviate far from other comparable mall stores in price, style, or quality.

My advice is that people should treat it as any other store, because to be honest, stick around there for awhile and you'll notice while their employees might be dressed in black, their customers aren't... And won't be. It's the appeal of such lifestyle that makes their business successful, not that these subcultures actually shop there (the goth scene is small and often DIY, and punk was 80's -- not a profitable endeavor). Thus, they sell a lot of niche youth junk to geekier types.

Store that is geared toward the 20 years old and youngers crowd that has an identity crisis. The store sets off a vibe that in order to listen to nu-metal, rap-rock, rap, metalcore, early metal (all of which I think suck), then you have to buy an ugly ass black tee shirt and not be a conformists by conforming. If you have no self esteem, blare "smells like teen spirit" after a fight with your parents because they won't take you go to the skating rink on a friday night to hang out with your other mallrat friends 'till 10:30 and talk about how bad you need a cigarette even though your 16, or listen to slipknot, this store is for you though. By the way, god have eternal mercy on your soul if you even consider considering walking into Hot Topic with anything that is not black and/or is considered preppy, take my word for it, it's not pretty, but if your going to shop here anyway you probly don't care about things being pretty either way.

They have some interesting stuff...i guess.
i like their selection of knee socks, tights, etc and the guy shirts in XS.
The shoes are adorable but they only carry them in banal colors such as patent, black, and black.
Hot Topic is designed more for children or moody punkers stuck in the battle of peer expectations. meh, not bad.
Oh, and their Americanized version of a Gothic Lolita dress made me pee my pants from laughing too hard.

i like this store because its different from all the other gay preppy stores and its the only store that has the bands i like. every adult that rates this sais its just a teenager phase but its not because i know people that are 40 that still go there cause they like it better than all the other stores. and people that are christians that are reading this just because you go here doesnt mean your going to hell there are christian bands in there too and if you really are christian you wouldnt be saying that there gonna go to hell you would pray for them.

Hot Topic in my opinion has d=some ok things, i generally dont shop there, but occasionally i go in to amuse myself and end up buying a band t-shirt, some stickers or a magazine. I have always found the staff at my location to be friendly and helpful, but all in all i think that mostly Hot Topic is designed to help teenagers going through identity crisis' fit into something.

well i think the people ther look kind of scary but there all always really nice and friendly unlike those abercrombie b!tche$ but in most of the stores there super small and packed together so its hard to get around except the one i go to most often is big but anyway id say they have a lot of cool stuff and funny stuff but most of there tshirts are like iron on things iorned on to a hanes t-shirt and are expensive but considering so many people steal from there i understand why.... oh and as far as hot topic stuff being used to be different from everyone else is bull sh!t i mean the whole punk goth thing is like such a trend right now that its not really being different its being the same that whole different thing mighta worked like 3-4 years ago

People should stop hatin on Hot Topic. Isnt it good that kids who shop at HT are just victims of conformity. Cuz then, you can be one of the few that r truly different. So quit yer bi**in. If everyone stopped shoppin at these stores then what? We need people to follow mainstream so we can seperate ourselves from them. So shhh, u noe im right.

I'll go in this store for the occasional Happy Bunny item, but that's it! Their clothes are expensive...and they don't even look good! Everything is pretty much all black, with the exception of some of their t-shirts. At least at A&F, you come out looking good!! The reason Hot Topic is around is to cater to portions of teen popluations during their goth phase. They all claim to be non-conformist, yet they dress like each other! They'll get over it once high school's over!

I like Hot Topic, and I buy some of my clothes there, but not all. I'll admit some of the clothes are even a little scary for me. At the store near me, the salespeople are usually kind of pleasant and always ask if I need help with anything. I do not like how they're always watching what you're doing, and how if you're not punk or gothic and you enter the store, you get dirty looks from them. The prices are too high, and some of the clothing, accessories, and jewelry fall apart easy. Though I'll admit, I have 2 pairs of pants from there that I've had for ages, and they never fell apart or ripped. But I did buy a pair of earrings from there that were defective and shouldn't have been. So there are positive and negative things about this store.

I don't like the style of clothes in this store, I will have to admit, I did see one shirt that was kinda cool then I really looked at it and it had some god awful looking design on the back of it. Yeah this place sucks, and I hear the clothes are very cheap quality, and that = falling apart.

I went to the one in Corpus Christi, TX. I totally hate the employees that work there. I went in to look for jewelry with my sisters. My sister takes a long time to decide what to buy. The employees thought we were stealing because they kept looking at us up and down. The weird thing was is that they never asked us if we needed any help. They didn't talk to us once! Hello! If you think someone is stealing you are supposed to give them customer service and ask them if they need help! The selection of stuff is great for punks/goths. The store is also too small. I will never will go into that store ever again because of the sucky employees. From now on I will only shop on their online website.

This is a store geared toward teens and young adults. There are some positive and negative things about the store. Negative: Small, Crowded and Loud, they like to play loud rock music. If you like to dress conservatively, this is not the store for you. Positive: Clothes are wild and edgy. Has some cute and funny stuff. They have some novelty stuff like Care Bears, The Simpsons, Strawberry Shortcake and others. They employee mostly young people who have been helpful in the Hot Topic's I've been in. Prices are kind of high though.

Personally, I don't shop there. The only thing I've ever bought there was a sticker I slapped on a guitar. Don't really have anything against the store, really. But I've got to admit... the concept of "punks" and "rebels" shopping at the mall is a bit incongruent. Especially since the store prices there aren't exactly cheap. Besides the fact that dressing like every other "goth" or "punk" is far from rebellious, people usually look goofy when they're dressed head to toe in Hot Topic gear. But hey... to each their own, I guess.

I bellive tha thot topic is a great store if you are unable to find a "hole in the wall". I would also like to say taht I am very christian and shop there all the time, yes I used to thnk it was evil as well but then i got a clue and realized that it is just stuff. I also realized that you should never judge people by what they are wearing espcialy if you say you are "christian". It's a contradiction of everthing you are taught and we can not have that now can we?

This store is just for posers who think that shopping here and listening to trendy rap-metal and pop-punk makes them punk or goth, but really this store and its customers are just as preppy as A&F and their customers. Also, the clothes here are, if anything, more overpriced and cheesy than the ones at A&F, and the selection and size range is just as limited. I think Old Navy actually offers you the most bang for the buck and the biggest selection out of the mall stores, but apparently people think that shopping there makes you a prep while shopping at this overpriced, trendy store makes you different and rebellious.

Hot topics is for poser crack headed preeps!!!no self respecting subculture-er would ever buy everyday wear from there!! being goth or punk or raver is about being different!!! Hot Topics is no different from GAP or Abbacrombie and Fitch !! Punk goth and all those others are about DIY fashion!! It's a unique way to express yourself!!! I love Hot Topic! I'm glad there is a finally a store that realizes that not everyone in the world wants to dress like preps. They actually sell clothing for people who are actually individuals and don't feel like they have to be like everyone else. Finally a store that sells PUNK clothing! I love it!

Hot topic is destroying what's left of the underground. A friend of a friend said he saw a Crass tshirt in one of these godforsaken abominations a year ago. If you don't know who Crass is you probably also think Hot topic is cool. Educate yourself. Wake up and smell the bitter coffee.

Although I've only been in Hot Topic two or three times, I've had very pleasant experiences. I don't usually go there for everyday clothes, it's usually for something specific. Like this Halloween I was looking for something specific to go with my costume and I went there to find it. The sales lady was VERY helpful and I found exactly what I was looking for. My visit was quick and I wasn't pressured into buying anything but what I was looking for. I'd definitely go there again.

I personally think that this pathetic store super sucks and that only poser kids shop there to only be "more punk" , "more goth" or more "raver"...People say that buying at this store makes you different when really your not cause they sell the same shirt to everyone else...they don't discontinue something just cause you bought something. I'm sure the non-posers in the world, even preps know that "true rockers" make their own clothing.

the obly reason I rated them 2 stars is because Hot Topic's not for me but its a great place for gothic people can get their stuff there are all different kinds of clothing stores for people with different opinions in clothes so hot topic is just one of them but if I was into the gothic I'd wanna shop there!

I am a teenage girl, but I am not a teeny-bopper, NSYNC-loving, Britney-wannabe like the majority of teenage girls. That is why I love shopping at Hot Topic so much...it sells clothes for those people who like to be different and unique. They offer a lot of punk and gothic clothing, which I think is terrific because before Hot Topic there were no big gothic/punk clothing retailers around, and you either had to resort to buying clothing that didn't suit your style, or you had to find a hole-in-the-wall store in your area that sells punk/gothic clothes, which was really inconvenient. I visit Hot Topic weekly. It is a place where I can converse with other people that like the same things I do. It is a place where I am not gawked at because I wear spikes and have piercings. I feel comfortable in there. The only thing that is bad about Hot Topic is their prices...they are way too expensive. But I love the fashion, the band merchandise they sell, and i love the punk accessories...it's a perfect place to find clothes for the rebel in all of us.

This store is perhaps a little bit gothic. It's definitely not a store for someone who's looking for preppy clothing. The store sells skull T-shirts, shiny pants, spike jewelry, and various frightening novelty items. *LoL* But, no, I bought a tank top there last summer that says "Princess" on it--A little expensive, but it was for a concert, and I bought some red, shiny, polyester pants for a really great price. Great store, a little scary. . .
