De La Soul is amazing. They laid the groundwork for so much of what is good in Hip-Hop. By the way, last year (2005) they just released a new album called The Grind Date. This cd is up to par with all of their previous releases, and is one of the best albums to come out recently.

how can you not love these guys? they were one of the groups that has brought hip hop to where it is today.

A wonderful group of soft, unorthodox rap stylings. Their lyrics are either poignantly realistic, humorous or just plain out there. I've had Ring Ring, Hey Hey as my answering machine message for the last two years.

These guys were the psychedelic hippies of rap. De La Soul released one of the best rap albums ever recorded in 3 Feet High and Rising. Incredibly listenable songs including Me, Myself, and I, Potholes in My Lawn, and The Magic Number. This is what old-school rap was all about, having a good time to cool beats and thoughtful rhymes.

DE La Soul have consistantly come out with great albums, they have withstood the test of time and looked and sounded good doing it. I am stunned that Will Smith and other terrible acts are in the de la Soul neighborhood.

De La Soul is sic. Leaders in the Trip Hop movement of the late 80's coining the name for all followers as Native Tounges. Two of the most underrated hip-hop albums has to be "Stakes is High" and "De La Soul is Dead".

De La Soul does exist, they just didn't sell out their image to get airtime on BET or MTV. "Art Official Intelligence" just came out last year (right around the time Eminem released his second record.) Prior to that, Stakes Is High was released in 1997. Maybe they don't crank out a new album every six weeks, or push their mouth onto anyone elses records that will have them in the studio, like P. "My Name Changes Every Season" Diddy, but they have a strong, loyal fan base, who will stay true to Da Soul long after nobody remembers who the hell DMX and Outkast are.
