What you have tom admire about Nas is he still got it after all these years. His album that he released last year was still just as good as ever. It is very rare for a rapper to maintain quality quite the way Nas does. Hip-hop has a lot of pitfalls that cause people to sell out and make subpar music.

Lyrically one of the top 3 artists in history. No other rapper in the game today can top this man, not 50 cent, not Jay-z, not Cameron, Jeezy, Mike Jones, Paul Wall, Nelly, nobody. Does not get the respect he deserves. Snoop Dogg gets more respect than Nas but they've been in the game about the same amount of time.

Maybe if he had been murdered in the middle of his career he would be as highly regarded as Pac, but since he lives on he doesn't get the respect he deserves. Better than Jay-Z, better than BIG, and better than Tupac. An excellent MC.

Nas is easily the best rapper alive. Many don't appreciate his verbal prowess and skill mostly because they dont rap. He is a poet and a thinker who has many different styles and techniques. If you truly love hip hop and not that commercial, radio bullsh*t than you love Nas. Yeah Nas has a couple radio bullsh*t hits but rappers only make those so "pop" culture will buy their albums. Listen to his albums and not to what other say. "Illmatic" is great, "It was Written" is so damn creative you just gotta listen to the song called "I gave you power". "I AM" was platinum for the last 8 songs, Natradamus is as creative as "it was written" with the song entitled "shootem up". Every loves "stillmatic" but my favorite is "the lost tapes". This album makes you think and helps you as a lyricist. Just listen

update: nas isn't what he once was. i think he has potential to come back but he seems to be lost in the shuffle w/street disciple old one: nas is one of my favorite rappers and easily one of the greatest lyricists in rap ever......'illmatic' is probably one of the best albums ever and if you haven't listened to it then you're obviously not a fan of rap.......watch out for 'street disciple' ....nas still keeps it real even in the day when rap has fallen w/novelty acts such as eminem

The absoloute best, every one of his cd was great. He may not match Jay-Z because Jay-Z raps about mainstream. Nas is not mainstream, but he has so many more dedicated fans out there. Nas is the realest, illest, and his lyrics are nothing short of brillant. His new stuff dont have it? Bull sh*t, i got Street's Disciple not to long ago and i love this cd.

I'll GIVE Nas five for TRYING to stay positive... The battle was close, but sad to say I think Jay won by a razor thin margin. All the GOD's SON stuff and the Puffy video with him on the cross, too much for me. Illmatic & Stillmatic are his best albums.

Illmatic was large but most of his stuff since has been a little too polished for my likings.
