Brilliant and enormously influential slide guitarist with a handful of classics of the genre like " The Sky is Crying," " Dust my Broom," " It Hurts Me Too," and " Shake Your Moneymaker", who unfortunately died in 1963 at the relatively young age of 45. A big influence on early Fleetwood Mac, Brian Jones, even George Harrison. Should be way up the guitarist list, but isn't even listed for some reason.

"Dust my Broom" "Shake your Moneymaker" and the rest of the playlist makes for an unforgettable performer. He may not be quite in the Hooker, Hurt, King class, but he's so close you can't shine a flashlight between them

Although he did write some great songs, and played a mean guitar, his music lacks variety.I would NOT compare him to giants such as Robert Johnson,John Lee Hooker,or Muddy Waters.

Truly great. I always prefered him to Muddy. Deserved a lot more recognition.

Elmore James' note placement was the best that I've ever heard. The tone that he achieved on his best recordings was one of the greatest of all time.

He's got to be the most underrated blues artist on this list. He's just as much a father of rock n roll as anybody who gets much more credit. A master of the slide guitar. I can never get enough of Shake Your Money Maker.
