I'm not a big fan of the blues genre, but Bonnie Raitt has some strong singles. Oddly enough, I much prefer the material during her years with Warner Brothers (e.g. "Under The Falling Sky", "I Feel The Same", "What Is Success", and her killer cover of "Runaway") than her much more commercially successful time with Capitol (e.g. "Thing Called Love" and "Something To Talk About"). This earlier work is well represented on "The Bonnie Raitt Collection" (1990).

Great underrated slide guitarist. Amazing voice.

If anyone thinks she is a blues person, then they might not have a clear understanding of what the blues actually is. As for her slide playing, no she is not the best, not even close actually. Talk to any of the major blues players around today and the name for slide will be Sonny Landreth. #1 slide player

Just another ugly liberal. Looks like a drunken piece of trailer trash. And she's a communist supporter. Loves Castro and Sandinistas. She's a sicko.

She's had a couple of decent songs in recent years, but to put her in the company of these legendary blues singers is warped to say the least.

this woman is too cool. i like her cause she has her own unique style that she built on her influences and doesn't just crank out formulaic blues-rock licks like some of the recent young blues guitarists have done. plus she isn't all high on herself being the most prominent female blues guitarist.

B.B. King and John Lee Hooker say shes the best slide guitarist playing today.

How cool is Bonnie Raitt? First of all, name one other female blues guitarist. It's almost impossible. Sure, there are other female blues singers, but Raitt is the only credible and popular blues guitar-playing woman out there - as she has been for something like three decades! From the start she was really good, if underappreciated, but her voice and songwriting have matured, making her even better in the 90s than she was in the 70s. If you only know her through recent CDs like "Nick of Time," it's definitely worth getting a hold of some of her earlier music.

From her earliest recordings to the present, she is a powerful blues musician. Her personal style comes through even on jams with other musicians.
