I saw this kid play when he was sixteen. I couldn't believe anyone this young could play this well and with this kind of maturity. Lately though, he has drifted into a more eclectic blues style. I'm not a purist by any means, but I think he was better when he was more traditional

Not much of bluesman anymore. He had a lot of promise.

i'm not trying to be classist here, but this white boy can't play.

Better singer than guitar player. Guitar playing is highly derivative of SRV. Great blues voice though, sounds way beyond his years. Maybe the guitar playing will evolve.

Sounds like an old blues singer who's had hard times for 50 years. Real feeling in his music. Hope to see more of him soon.

he's got the skills, but i think what he lacks is a personalized style. and the feeling of laid-back yet innovative funness i get from the classics.

First of all...Jonny Lang is not "new." He has been around since I was about 16...3 to 4 years. And that's after I heard about him. His music can be compared with the greats. He's been on tour with B.B. King and the Rolling Stones, which is awesome for a boy his age. His voice and talent on the guitar is enough for anyone to want to here more.

While I think he's great. He is just too young yet to have the influence of others on this list. Maybe in time...

Jonny Lang is the brightest new star in the blues sky.
