I'd like to get some of those Eddie Van Halen/Motley Crue/etc, etc dumbasses, duct tape them to a chair and force them to listen to a couple hours of Lightnin'
Would be a waste of time though.
They're too dumb and deaf to appreciate greatness.

 | Djahuti (56) 11/11/2004 | Why this man isn't higher on this list I cant figure.Easily one of the greatest guitarists EVER:that's why he was also known as Mojo Hand.By himself he sounds like two or three people playing:WAY before you could fake that in a studio!

 | StevePI (0) 07/12/2004 | Lightnin' was different. His songs were often more like conversations. He could make up a song about anything right on the spot. I'm so glad I got to see him perform live. Texas is second only to Mississippi in producing all time blues greats and Lightnin' Hopkins is one of the reasons.

 | Sonny Boy (0) 03/20/2001 | A very mournful blues guitarist/singer. I'll never forget " gimme back that wig I bought you,baby....mama,let your god damn head go bald. " Classic!!

 | Ruby (15) 11/11/1999 | I'd don't know much about Lightnin Hopkins (except that REM named a terrible song after him), beyond one wonderful song my uncle taped for me once called "Trouble In Mind". There's a great lyric along the lines of: "I'm gonna lay my head down on that railroad tie/ Let the 5:19 satisfy this mind of mine..." Chilling!
