What can I say? "King Bee" is one of my favorite songs.

Easily amongst the top five artists of the genre. Great singer, there simply would be no rock music as we know it without him, no Rolling Stones, no Cream, no Led Zeppelin, etc. A long list of great tunes and performances.

Hmm, what to say.. IM NOT WORTHIE! First thing I thought when I saw and heard him. He is by far the #1 Blues player. After seeing him play years ago is what got me into playing guitar. Can I play like him, check out the first line.. you may be able to copy the tone, but never ever the feeling and the emotion that he puts into it. I dont even try to copy, him, just carry on the banner of the blues.

Muddy Waters is arguably the King of Blues and Grandfather of Rock n' Roll.He had a powerful voice, unbeatable style, and played a mean, deep slide. He was also known to be a powerhouse performer. His music is as valid today as the day it was written.A true artist, who never sold out and always gave his ALL.He is the one who popularized Electric Blues-paving the way for such bands as Led Zeppelin & the Rolling Stones (who named themselves after one of his tunes).

A long time ago I was on the road in Montreal. I stopped by a club in the French Quarter and who showed up to play? Muddy and his band of course. It was like being back in sweet home Chicago. I saw Muddy Waters perform more than any other musician of any genre. I wish I could see and hear him again. He is truly missed. My favorite Muddy Waters song line: I wish I was a catfish, swimin' in the old deep blue sea. I'd have all you good lookin' women fishin, fishin after me. I can't continue or I'm going to get real misty eyed. Just let me close by reminding that Muddy made it possible for talent as diverse as Willie Dixon and Little Walter and Jimmy Rogers to have successful careers of their own.

Jaw dropping, awe inspiring, greatness. Mannish Boy has been one of my favourites since I first heard it.

A truly great bluesman. When he says I just wanna make love to you or Got my mojo working he sings it with such fervor that you believe him.

ATTENTION ALL MUDDY FANS!!!!!- at the Rock and Roll hall of fame in Cleveland (which is overrated) Muddy's shrine on the wall has a quote from Jimi Hendrix underneath. . .I will try to get it right- "The first time I heard him. . .I was scared." Muddy is a god. Easily one of the top 3 bluesmen of all time.

This is my favorite blues artist! But I had no idea he would be rated #1 on this list! Apperently I'm not alone!

A childhood favorite! Classics. Isn't it great that now all the blues greats have most of their classic stuff out on CDs...

Muddy Waters IS the blues. Just about any great blues song, he has played. "I'm A Man," "Got My Mojo Working," "Hoochie Koochie Man." Anyone looking to get into the blues, start with Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson, B.B. King, John Lee Hooker and Billie Holiday. Then move on to Buddy Guy, Albert Collins and Stevie Ray Vaughn.

This guy is really cool. I mean, the Stones liked him, and as we all should know, the Stones' word is the LAW. I've heard the song from which the Rolling Stones took their name, and it's pretty good! I have not been known to like the blues. But Muddy Waters---well, how could you not like the guy? He was funny and had a great personality, as well as the fact that he had good music! But because I've heard maybe four of his songs, I can't legitimately give him a five. Four stars. When I here some more of his stuff, I might change my mind and boost the rating. Take care, everyone!

Some things cannot be taught in school and singing the blues is one of them. Muddy Waters had the perfect combination of style and background and lifestyle and heritage and mojo that adds up to the perfect bluesman. It might not be pretty, but it's the blues.

The real mojo man

This guy is the real thing - an original. I am a huge fan of "Muddy Mississippi Waters Live," a CD that really gives you a sense of Waters' personality as well as his music. His interaction with the audience is great, and there's no question that this man can sing circles around 99% of the other blues musicians.

Check your local public TV listings for Muddy Waters biographies/specials. Several have aired recently in Virginia.
