A nasty, uncultured, thoroughly vicious bastard, who until he died was the last of the bad-ass Mississippi hill bluesmen.
Raw, rough, and compelling, Burnside learned his trade in the razor-toting jukes of his home, and carried it as far as his hard-living will could do it.
Not exactly clean, and not for those expecting guitar pyro-technics, but hearing him is hearing blues at its roots

The greatest sound out of blues in a long time. Punky techno blues? how does this stuff work so well. "His album Come on in" is my favorite.

That record he did with the Blues Explosion (Jon Spencer) a couple years back -- *ss Pocket o' Whiskey -- is unbelievable! One of the last survivors of the 30s Mississippi Delta Blues scene roughs it up with white boy punks!
