In the Land of Women 4

After breaking up with the love of his life, Carter (Adam Brody) who is a soft-porn movie writer goes from Los Angeles to Detroit to visit and take care of his grandmother, Phillis (Olympia Dukakis) who lives alone and is sadly senile. Walking around, he makes the acquaintance of the neighbour women who reside across from his gramdma's home. Sarah, (Meg Ryan) is the mother of two girls who has her own burden as wife and woman to deal with. They become friends and start walking together frequently, as Sarah takes her dog along. He also knows Lucy (Kristen Stewart), Sarah's teenage daughter and Page, the youngest sister. Each one of them has the typical age problems, the oldest worried about the guys who like her and the child wanting attention, affection and friendship. As Carter is a very nice guy, unwittingly he involves himself in the lives of these people. Everyone exchange experiences trying to alleviate their own quotidian problems. Carter, in a new environment, tries to resume his writing, but watching the movie, you will notice his doing something quite different. This is not an action or comedy movie. It is a story about people who talk about their lives and try to extract something good of it, even if some days are darker than others. If you like movies about different people's interactions, you'll like this one. I mainly appreciated the performances of Adam Brody (from O.C.) which I haven't watched yet, but will do now and Meg Ryan in a very interesting drama role.
