King George is still going strong. I don't think I've heard a bad George Strait song, possibly because there aren't any bad George Strait songs. Strait has consistantly stayed country, while many other big acts have let their sound stray too close to pop.

Strait has positioned himself as the bench-mark for male country performers. He is a competent singer and has an astounding sense of which songs to record. At this stage in his career he can pick and choose only the best, or whatever he wants - which is usually the best. His fame and prestige may surpass that of Cash, Jones, and Milsap by the time he retires.

In my opinion, George Strait is the best country artist there is today. He doesn't follow the trends, but relies on his own talent and integrity to put out good old traditional country music, the way it's suppose to be. While these new artist are flushing country down the tiolet, George keeps on the Strait and narrow. He is truly a legend!

I really don't care for his music but I just love "Amarillo By Morning" and I think he sings it well

George Strait is by far the best of the best country singers today. My favourites singers in the past include Kenny Rogers, Don Williams, and now George Strait. I highly recommend "The Chair", "You look so good in Love", and "Fool Hearted Memory", which I personally consider amazingly good, his voice and lyrics is soothing. I am not an american, so this is an international voice of recognition in favor of a true Country Musician.

A real country singer who hasn't been sucked into the top 40 market, he stays consistant and only plays country. You have to give him credit for that in today's market.

George Strait is the man. He consistently comes out with good songs. 50 number one hits is enough proof. What I like the most is that he doesn't put any pop music in his music; he keeps his country the way country is supposed to sound like.

George Strait is without question country music's living legend! 20-30 years ago up and coming artist would usually reference their influences as George Jones, Merle Haggard, Buck Owens or Johnny Cash; but George has hands down been the influence of the hottest current artists for the past 10 years! Every artist from Garth, Toby, Tim, Kenny and even Alan Jackson, a future legend in his own right, credit George Strait as one of their biggest influences in their career! It only takes one listen to ANY George Strait classic to see why fans and artists alike refer to him as King George, today's living legend!

Best country artist around by far. No one has ever made consistently good records over a long long span of time like George Strait has. He doesn't have to resort to lasers and fireworks to give a good concert. Another thing I love about him is that he has not gone out and recorded a bunch of these soldier songs and songs about the 9-11 terrorist attacks. Toby Keith and Alan Jackson showed a complete lack of shame by profiting off of that. George has too much class to do that kind of thing.

The best in country...wonderful music, beautiful voice and a true gentleman to boot!

As a country music fan, I tend to listen to the more recent generation of country music artists and steer away from what many old-school country music fans would call "pure country". However, I must say that even though that he is old school, "pure country", George Strait has always impressed me with his songs. I've never really heard of any bad songs that he has produced, and like win, he just seems to get better with age. "She'll Leave You With A Smile", "Go On", "Run", "The Best Day of My Life" and "The Road Less Travelled" were all great songs and I'm sure we can look forward to seeing more of George Strait in the future.

George is the reason I love men in Wranglers!!

He quite simply has the best voice of anyone in country. He also has class, intelligence, and doesn't record songs that deliberately suck up to the mass audience like Garth, Tim, etc. There are a great many artists today who should get down on their knees and thank him for what he's done for them (Garth, Clint, McGraw, Toby, Paisley, so on). When he came along in the early eighties, every record company he approached told him "lose the hat". He refused. MCA Records, his label for the last 20+ years, told him the same thing, but he told them that the hat was a part of him. He said he was from Texas, had worked on ranches, wore a hat all his life, and he wasn't about to change it. Also, after 3 albums with MCA he stood up for his artistic rights, even though it could have meant an end to his promising career. The three albums he had recorded for them had all been very successful and had given him 5 #1 singles, but he didn't get to pick the songs himself, and the production and arrangements weren't to his liking. He was about to record the fourth album for MCA when he made a bold move: he marched into his producer Jimmy Bowen's office and told him he wasn't about to put his voice on the ten songs they had picked out for him. This was a bold move for any artist, but as luck would have it, Bowen agreed wholeheartedly, and that album was scrapped. Then, George Strait put together the album that HE wanted to make, and guess what happened? The album, titled "Does Fort Worth Ever Cross Your Mind?", went on to win Album of the Year honors at the Country Music Association awards show that year. Over two dozen albums later, Strait has recorded 38 #1 singles and still counting. He's second only to Conway Twitty on that list. Also, he has had 25 albums go Platinum, and quite a few of those are double or triple platinum. No other country artist in history has done that. He also has the best selling boxed set in country music history, and it's second only to Bruce Springsteen's Live boxed set as the best selling in any music genre. He has won countless awards, millions of fans and he's done it with good music and a fair amount of integrity. I only wish more of today's artists would follow his example.

I was in the second row when George came to Atlanta in 2001. I had the best time of my life. He is coming to my county of Gwinnett, Ga., in Feb. and I am so happy. I met another Strait fan through his fanclub and she lives in England. She is coming to Gwinnett to see the concert with me. I have a great new friend because of George. We love him!

i can't beleive that no one mentioned the unbeleiveable good looks that this man possesses, on top of being a REAL cowboy and a REAL gentleman. his songs are classics. when i heard the newest one, leaves you with a smile, at first i thought it was one of his old songs that had somehow passed me by. that is how classic and timeless his music is. and he is low-key, charming and down to earth, unlike a lot of current stars. he has class, his songs and music are classic, he has a GREAT band, he is from texas, what else could a gal ask for? amarillo by morning gives me goosebumps, especially the twin fiddles at the end

George Strait is the best male singer that has ever been and ever will be in country music. Not only does he have a wonderful voice and is able to sing many different styles of songs, he is also a respectable person. Being married to his wife for almost 30 years is something few, if any, people in any music industry can say. I have seen him in concert twice, once in the 4th row and it was the best show I have ever seen. He doesn't need all the fireworks, lasers, guitar smashing, etc. that some stars do. He just strictly performs a show using his and his band's talent. To reply to the comment as to why he is not a member of the Grand Ole Opry-in order to be a member you have to perform at least 18 times a year at the Opry, and since George is not in Nashville that often, it would be hard for him to do that. I also would like to know where some people (including this website) are getting the idea that he put out a CD prior to his 1981 release of "Strait Country"? George is truly the KING of country!!!

THE BEST COUNTRY SINGER EVER!!!Not only are his songs of the highest grade, but he is truely an act with class. The first country singer I really noticed was him in 1981, which opened my world to country for the first time.

George has several good songs, and one (maybe more) GREAT one (Lead On), but to me, he's like Frank Sinatra, a voice for someone else's material. He is a real "twang" country singer. But the people love him, he makes them feel good, and that counts for alot.

George was a great musican. I thought he was the greatest. He came to Little Rock and I was very dispointed. He just came out and sange and introduced his band. I saw his other concert and It was great. I learned from the dixon music company where my daughter takes guitar lessons that he refused to sign a guitar, said he didn't sign for charity. They were giving it for raising money for Cancer. I couldn't believe what I heard. I have always enjoyed his music. Also, I have felt close to him and his wife, My son was killed in a car wreck as his daughter was. I love the song baby blue, he wrote it for his daughter and my son had blue eyes also. I was hoping that he would sing it but he didn't. I won my tickets on the internet with kduck. My other daughters bought tickets so we could all go and see him. My baby daughter was very disappointed with his concert and she grew up admiring George Strait.

I really like his music, Canadians were wondering why every other country artist will tour in Canada but George Strait does not. We buy his cds,and watch his videos. The least he could do is acknowledge his neighbors to the north!

George Strait is my hero! He knows what ranching life is all about. He is a true cowboy! He isn't out there wearing the buckle and the clothes and not having any idea about the great impact that agriculture has on the world. He knows and it shows. George Strait is awesome! George Strait is one of the last few REAL country singers. Country has turned to pop while George Strait has remained country. He consistently sings hit after hit. This is probably why he has remained the best for 20 years.

I have seen George in concert 4 times, even had the thrill of being very close, within first 5 rows each time. I love him. He is super. This is the first time I have ever thought so much of a actor or singer. Why did I now? I believe because George exemplifies a true gentleman. He has been married to Norma for almost 30 years. He's not out there dating the women, going from one to another and cheating on his wife. I understand he would not even kiss his costar in Pure Country because of his love and respect for Norma. I think that is absolutely fantastic! Many country stars could take a lesson. He is a very private guy, does his stage thing, works hard at his music recording and then goes home to his family. One night he said "Hello Bubba" to his son on TV. If you notice the lyrics of his songs also, they are respectful of women. I believe he takes love seriously as men and women should do. I think George is terrific, Norma is lucky to have him, as George is lucky to have Norma. She must be a wonderful person if George loves her. Their anniversary is coming up on Dec 4th, my birthday.
