Very funny standup comic about twenty years ago. She went way past her talent years ago. The television show was good for the first few years too. She should avoid making movies for sure.

I saw her long ago at a comedy festival, just as her star was starting to rise, and well before TV. She was very funny, in a raucous fishwife sort of way that somehow managed to be self-deprecating at the same time. Like a lot of comics who have done sitcoms, she lost a lot when she changed mediums.

Not even a little funny

I remember her when she had a rather funny act, but she really stepped in it at San Diego and her other personal antics ruined it for most people.

Offensive and rude.

If Hollywood needs a fat woman trying to be funny, there is always a use for Roseanne.
CanadaSucks 06/26/2005
Not funny.

i agree with the last person about rosanne as a person, but her standup really was excellent. especially before she got her show.

Roseanne is the prototypical celebrity who lets all her success get to her head and then deems herself above everyone. Nevermore was this apparent than when she despicably (and intentionally) oinked her way through the national anthem at a San Diego Padres game in the early-1990s, spitting to the side disgustingly thereafter. But the reality about Roseanne is simply that she is nothing more than a FAT SWINE and a PATHETIC LOSER!

She's nothing but a former prostitute (self-admitted) with a loud foul mouth.
sfalconer 12/22/2004
When Roseanne first came on the scene she was a novelty, a funny house wife. Her show reflected those roots but she soon got carried away with the Hollywood life style and so did her sense of humor. John Goodman was the real star of the show and was always funny Roseanne got more preachy and depressing as the show went on. The world series deal just showed us how low she had gone. Tom Arnold did nothing for here carrier but she did do a lot for his. That may be a good or a bad thing depending on how you look at it.

This woman is the most apallingly revolting ANNOYING so called "comedian" i have ever seen. How can anyone think she is funny? I would rather trim my public hairs then watch this fat tub of sh!t!!!!
Redoedo 05/30/2003
I enjoyed her show, but she can keep her dirty laundry to herself.
Moosekarloff 05/30/2003
Never funny. Repulsive to look at. I bet she suffers severely from gas. Her humor reflects this. Remember: that other noteworthy no-talent, former hubby Tom Arnold, used to chow down on that. Really disgusting thought, don't you think?
getback 05/12/2003
A waste.
Sharon3802 03/01/2003
She should get zero stars. A really insult to women.
callmetootie 12/04/2002
Her first few years (1985-1987) were a bit too raunchy and racy, but when she got her own show, she became more likable and motherly.
bob falange 07/17/2001
She's a disgrace !!! Who can forget her disgusting behaviour at the Superbowl a few years ago?
CastleBee 04/23/2001
It's hard to recall now, but there was actually a time when I thought she was pretty funny. But, like so many who hit it big quickly in showbiz, she ruined it by slapping us with her unsolicited political and private views and an unnecessary look at her past and present ability to lead a dysfunctional life. Now I just associate her with the smell of all her dirty laundry.
kyes 02/08/2001
she's got a lot of personal issues that sometimes come out and annoy/offend/irk people. but everyone did appreciate her show for being so realistic. i gotta give that a little credit
cheymon 11/22/2000
I personally can't stand Roseanne. She is not funny, her jokes have no edge to them. They are also rather revolting. Her material is very old and will continue to stay old unless she does something.
nemonkey 11/17/2000
I have been watching her show for many years. Though not the ideal mother, her antics always rouse the audience into convulsions, stimulating me to join in. She never runs out of sarcastic remarks and knows how to keep the audience's stomachs churning with laughter.
init9859om 08/18/2000
sure she has an annoying voice, but Roseanne is truly one very funny, insightful and thought provoking comedian. Maybe she dabbles where she shouldn't sometimes, but hey, don't we all ! Maybe the people who bash her constantly sees a little of themselves in her & can't deal with it. Roseanne, you are one of the greatest !
PoorOldEdgarDe rby 05/01/2000
See the thing is I actually kinda like Roseanne. I mean I think she's annoying and all but at least, unlike Bernhard, and Degeneres, she actually can be quite witty and funny. I can at least respect (maybe too strong of a word) her ability to climb up out of the gutter and get to where she is today. I might not agree with her on a lot of things but she can be funny and she deserves to above those other two.

if stupidity was funny, she would make people laugh
