None of these bands care what real music lovers think of them. They're either laughing all the way to the bank, or they have as bad taste as their fans.

Probably my favorite 80's band. Although, I don't like any of the albums after Adrenalize.

Their first three albums are really good and then it went downhill fast. They have made too many terrible albums for a high rating though a hard rock fan could do worse than owning the early stuff.

Love their early stuff through Pyromania. Hate everything after that including Hysteria.

There's nothing wrong with liking Def Leppard. Pour Some Sugar On Me got me into metal. No, its not that heavy but considering I was into Michael Jackson at the time, um, yeah. Pyromania and Hysteria, both great albums. I remember Pour Some Sugar On Me and Armageddon It both being #1 for the longest time. You can put down Def Leppard all you want but the chicks dug it and thats all a guy needed to know. Rick Allan was impressive on the drums.

How you guys can give Def Leppard such a low rating is beyond belief. How can you pick on their hair, that was all the rage in the 80's. They are excellent musicians and have some great old songs, hysteria being the best. They started out at the ripe old age of 17 and got better as the years went by. Their band has suffered tragedy and prevailed and still to this day put on a great show. The 80's would not have been the same without Def Leppard and pour some sugar on me is a great old song that sounds awesome even now.People who rate them low must be young and ignorant about heavy metal music!

One of the greatest bands of all time. All the people with negative comments about their hair, etc. are making me laugh with their ignorance. It just proves that those people are so arrogant (or possibly jealous?), that they can't see what a great, talented band Def Leppard truly is.

Hey.........what more can I say !!

The 2006 concert tour with Journey is awesome. The Charlotte, NC show on July 15th packed 18K plus. The bass was a little overpowersome and they must have had an underlying bass track playing which was slightly off otherwise, Joe, Rick, Sav, Phil and Vivian rocked on. Must see concert !!

I never know what to think of these guys. I hear "Armageddon It" on the radio and think "Pure candy-ass fluff" while I'm tapping my foot at the same time. Go figure. Kudos to them for sticking it out through all the hardships.

How can you not love this band they have so much heart. The only problem is that it takes them years to produce a CD. They have all so gone through a lot but they managed to keep Rocking.

Lep's early years were much stronger than their work in the 90's, and although that era had its share of highlights, the early 80's through to 87' were far superior. Leppard's first true "Breakthrough" came with the 'Mutt' Lange produced Pyromania in 1983 with the vary fameous single Photograph. Pyromania has sence sold over 10 million coppies in the U.S. Bigger things followed in 1987 ( theband took 4 years to release another album because of drummer Rick Allen's accident, in which he lost his left arm) when Hysteria was released many top 20 and 10 singles followed including "Pour some sugar" on me the chart topping "love bites" and "Woman". Def Leppard proved themselves to be one of the strogest bands in the 80's

As years have gone by, they have become more conemporary rock than hard rock/metal (as least not as much as Bon Jovi). However, their claasic run through the 80's (their first five albums) will forever certify Def Leppard as one of hard rock's strongest acts. Their stronger materal was definitely back in their young hay days (pretty good for teens and guys in their early twenties).

I'd have to give them ***1/2, really. But they don't quite get that 4 star rating. Why? Well, they've proven that they're strongly dependent on one producer who catapulted them into superstardom, (Robert "Mutt" Lange). Heck, the guy even captured lightning twice (Pyromania and Hysteria) but they can't seem to sound well without him.

Not that bad for a heavy-metal band. I suppose the fact that these guys are a few of the pickiest eaters on the planet ought not to affect my rating. "Hysteria" was one of the good things that came out of the 80s (it was the 80s, right?). Plus, their singer has an awesome taste in music. I probably couldn't tell you the name of a Def Leppard song if my life depended on it (I've heard assorted stuff off "Hysteria" - anyone got the titles?) but they are insanely good at what they do. Take care, everyone.

If imitation is the highest form of flattery, then Def Leppard should be rolling in the accolades: Starship took their shot at sounding Leppard-like on their 1989 album LOVE AMONG THE CANNIBALS, even going so far as to enlist the song-writing, production, and engineering services of long-time Def Lep helpers Robert John "Mutt" Lange & Mike Shipley (Starship's "We Dream In Color" is practically a Def Leppard song!); and Bryan Adams did it too on his 1991 album WAKING UP THE NIEGHBOURS. Few acts could lay claim to having such a huge influence on mid-80's/early 90's rock & roll as Def Leppard. I remember when a DJ in Lansing, Michigan started giving "Tear It Down" a few spins back in 1989... it was the B-side of "Women", the very first single off of their masterpiece HYSTERIA from two years earlier! I prayed for the day when I could get my hands on that song, and they finally put it on the album ADRENALIZE (it never actually appeared on a Def Lep album before then). "Promises," "Guilty," and "Day After Day" (all from 1999's EUPHORIA) are excellent as well!

it's shear sentimental loyalty that makes me give the leps this rating. i lament what they've become musically, but in junior high i was absolutely obsessed with them. my bedroom wall was plastered top to bottom with their pics, i had a scrapbook on them, and talked endlessly with my best bud about all things leppard. i actually cried like a baby when steve clark died (i was 16 and hormonal, what can i say?). i still spin "pyromania" at least once a week, but perhaps they should have taken their own advice: it's better to burn out, than fade away. anything post-adrenalize is pretty useless, unless you want to torture noriega again...

Why a 5 star rating? Just see any concert and you will agree. This band does not get the credit it deserves. They are loyal to their fans. They have continued to rock out for 20yrs. They do not get play on the local radio stations for whatever reason I do not know."Slang" was a great album, just mis-understood. If you listen more than once to most of the songs you will be "hooked" Get with it America.....DC

Hi, My younger brother and my mother both listen to these guys and I have listened to some of thier songs and I think they're ok. They write weird but cool songs. I remember going to Cape Cod with 2 great friends right after graduating high school in 1988 and this song was on every radio station about once an hour. I am not so sure I like the band all that much, but that trip was so great - and one of the things that remind me of it is that song ny this band. kind of like when you smell something and it brings you back to a certain place at a certain point of time. This song will always make me feel like an 18 year old kid again
