This band is one of my favourites ... i've been listening it for 5 years ... i've changed a lot but i still like this band and i listen to it and know all their songs... i'm still waiting and searching online about their activity.. also their other band... i like them more as Green Day... the new album is amazing and i am glad that they still make music! i would like to see more Billie Joe playing guitar! i like him playing... more than singing... but he does it well with the both... their music is expressive... it involves feelings such as rebellion, liberation, rage somewhat, also love... also against authorities revolt... this is frenzy music... it is good making you feel good... it is good... you must listen to them. ... you will like ... from the first listening.

i think their song lyrics are very true even with all the language. boulevard of broken dreams and wake me up when september ends helped me get through i depressing time in my life.

This band used very good. They had two good songs, "When I Come Around" from the album Dookie in 1994, and "Time Of Your Life" from Nimrod in 1997. Unfortunately as of 2003-2004 this band is more punk/goth/emo and have really changed.

To be honest, earning several tens of millions of dollars for producing a couple of dozen songs which sound almost exactly the same without any musical talent whatsoever, and calling Bush a "moron" doesn't seem very hard to me... Look kids, they use naughty words like 'Dookie' and 'Nimrod', they must be cool! Hee hee hee...

from the beggining, Green Day came from the underground straight into the mainstream with an album with the all the teenage agression of any classic punk album, it was the best thing to happen to music since the sex pistols, but commertial success led them to become the band they are today.. unfortunately not as good as they were. a true Green Day fan will know there is more to them than "American Idiot" listen to thier old stuff. i love it, you may too

Dookie was a really good album, that's it though. American Idiot dropped them two whole stars.

I will rescind my original rating and say that I have grown to appreciate Green Day over the past year. They are really a very good band with some great recent releases (Holiday, Boulevard of Broken Dreams). Funny how quickly things can change, huh?

Everyone calling them emo and pop are only bringing up songs from American Idiot, one out of their several albums. Personally I like American Idiot (though it's hardly punk), but I also enjoy their older stuff.

im not gona say that people who dont like or hate green day have no taste in music cause everyones different but i love them more than anything cause their music is the best i've heard in a while. no-one should say they're rock or pop or whatever to try and put them in a box cause you cant. they are just green day and thats it, take it or leave it. they were three pot-smokin easy goin punks who rocked Gilman and got a record deal cause of their talent. AND THEY SO DIDN'T SELL OUT! they never changed their sound to sell more records. they had no idea that they would hit it that big with dookie and its not like they asked to become mainstream. i for one am happy cause if they didnt i never would have heard american idiot on mtv and discovered them. These guys are so overrated and overplayed! Plus they suck! They aren't punk! They are just another one of those poser-punk bands like Good Charolete, Fall Out Boy, and Simple Plan! THEY SUCK!!!

I personally love this band their songs have a message, and their music is rockin and makes you wan to get p, pick up a guitar or drum sticks and join the band! My favorite, I have to admit, and the one message I most understood was 'When September Ends". It was talking about the attacks on the World Trade Center and it really broke me down. These guys care, even though they're rebellious. Thats just my own opinion. I don't care what anyone thinks.

Green Day is the best. They are punk/rock. They stuck together though the good and the bad. They've come so far. They write good songs that make strong statements. They don't take any bull from anyone. They know they rock and they keep going. Go boys!

Green Day blows. They don't even sing, they just whine like little girls. They are NOT punk, they are pop. Not pop-punk, just pop. Pop-punk is an oxymoron, because pop and punk are both completely opposite.

I think that Green Day is a great band Im not saying the best I like there lookout records albums more but I dont see why people have to really put them down hard I mean damn if someone truly hates this band they really cant change anything cause well they been out since 89 and Green Day did what they did and theres really no point in complaining about them cause nothing is going to change.

Ah, yes, the moonbats! Or, should I say, NO! Their songs are more of that "emo" stuff that I just don't like at all. "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" is complete garbage--depressing and nihilistic. (And, tell me this, do these people--who make millions and are popular--really believe in their life is full of broken dreams?) "American Idiot" is a disguisting song as well--full of typical "popular" anti-american sentiments which aren't nearly as widespread as they would like to think. And, of course, they have the black hair and punched-in-the-eyes look that I'm sure Dracula and his cronies would approve of.

I'll classify Green Day as 'mainstream rock',thank you very much. And people who say that people who don't like them should go to h3ll and such are stupid.You can't say that to people just becaus they don't like the band. I'll admit that I couldn't get 'Holiday' out of my head when I first heard it,but I still strongly dislike the group. I'm a neopets user.Every time I go to the Fan Clubs chat on the neoboards,roughly 98% of the boards are 'greenday rocks' or something to that affect.They spam up the boards,and the hardcore fangirls (and fanboys,but mostly girls) get defensive (as in mother-protecting-child defensive) whenever someone comes along and says that they don't think that Green Day is the best band ever. And,as someone said before me,punk was never meant to go mainstream.In my opinion,that destroys the whole point of Punk.I thought Punks were /AGAINST/ the mainstream,not APART of it. Amazing band. Saw them live at Milton Keynes a few months ago. Billie Joe really knows how to work the crowd, and he's even hotter in real life than on TV :P (Can't beat Tre Cool though) A lot of the old stuff is better than their new stuff, but gotta love Homecoming.

Mr. Armstrong has about a one and a half to a two octave range, which is about the range of any average choir student in America. The instumentals are creative, I will grant you that. The chord progressions and melodies are catchy, if not innovative. Overall, all I can see is a three. It's an average band. Average.

Solid band. . .classic 3 chord garage band that write decent songs. The people on this list claiming Green Day 'isn't rock' know nothing or next to nothing about rock music. This is a good, not great, rock band with 2 terrific albums. I am surprised they've lasted this long - it is a testament to their talent and fan base.

Good Charlotte called, and they want their tubes of mascara back. Since Green Day released one of the most inspired rock CDs of 2004 with American Idiot, I guess they can get away with the raccoon look. I bet they put it on with spatulas, though.

who would've thought: bratty California boys take punk and dilute it to the point where it is radio friendly, help start a new genre of irritating music (pop punk)shake off the mold and become a punk rock WHO in the process w/American Idiot. I dont like pop punk. Blink-182, Good CHarlotte, Sum 41, i see that tripe as being no better than Brittney Spears. BUt there's something original and fun about the way Green Day present the genre that i just enjoy. the talent of mixing three chords and gloss like that obviously takes some talent and these guys have done it. they only get better. from the first two indie releases to the massive Dookie and beyond Green Day is a thrill band w/a point. When the genre dies down, as Grunge did, Green Day will stand w/Pearl Jam as being true artists to come out of it.

Well, they are pretty good. Their songs are hit or miss for me. Good Riddance (Time of your Life) is a fantastic song. Too bad it was overplayed on the radio. I hate it when radio stations do that to good songs! I thought American Idiot was a crappy song. If they don't like it here, they can leave can't they? Boulevard of Broken Dreams is by far the best song they have ever come out with. (Let's just hope the radio stations don't go into overkill mode.)
