We do need to work more seriously at things that matter, but we also need to stand on our own two feet and cut the umbilical cord. Magic doesn't make you successful. You make yourself successful (as you define it). The lust for money and power are not good.

I never could afford it although I wanted to go to the best local art school, here in Milwaukee, MIAD. Too bad... only rich kids apply. Marie

Oh yesssssss, the life of the carefree, filthy rich heir/ess artist. How grand, lovely, secure and charmed a life can one ever hope to lead? Yeah, that's probably happened at least a couple of times - in the entire history of mankind. There's a reason for the term "suffering artist"...few of the greats are ever recognized in their lifetime let alone the ones who struggle to make ends meet in a 9-5 real world job. Regardless of talent, it's a highly competitive and stressful line of work that can suck the life out of you. Whoever wrote that little synopsis has obviously never been near an art class or they would also know that they tend to include people of all hues.

Um. . .well. . .it has to merit at least a four on this list. I have met my share of arts-degrees recipients and can tell you it's like watching the racial demographic of Fenway Park.

I have never heard of anyone going anywhere with one of these except for maybe my high school art teacher.... well, that's what she did with it..she was an art teacher at a public high school.

If that's your thing go for it, but I don't get the appeal of this sort of job.
