Like NYC, the Frisco of bohemian/beat/hippie progress is just a faded memory.Still, there are some remnants of living culture left in those archaeological sites.

There are a lot of nice sites, especially the Japanese Tea Garden. A good place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there.

Well, I've never been there--but the signature San Francisco houses would be a cool site to see! Also, I grew up watching Full House, so yea.. LOL That being said, I have heard that there are areas of the city that are not so safe to go into, so I don't know if I'd travel there specifically, maybe if I was in California for vacation I would swing up there for the day to take pictures.

I love it, but is it really a white thing? I doubt it. The city isn't even a majority white. One third consists of Asians, and back in the '70s, they were protesting busing so that they wouldn't have to be in school districts with all the dumb white kids. People in SF, as always, brushed history against the grain.

It's a U.S. city. It has good aspects and bad aspects, just like any other. I can't say I understand the obsession that some people have with San Francisco, or other California cities for that matter.

I love the place, and I'm white, so I guess this is true. I'm also unrelentingly straight, and I've had some interesting times with SF women, so you can cross the other stereotype off your list.
